Hello. My grandfather suffered from schizophrenia. Growing up, I never knew exactly what that meant. After taking a psychology class in college, I realized that my father showed many symptoms of the disease as well, although he was never diagnosed. After his death, I went through his old notebooks (he wrote down his thoughts constantly), and found pages of words that he had rearranged the letters trying to find messages in them. I was wondering if this can be attributed to the schizophrenia, or if it was just one of his personal eccentricities. Thank you.

Hi Lara,

This could be part of the SZ, as I'm reminded of the scene in A Beautiful Mind [the movie] where John Nash is interpreting a life-size map in front of him.

When I was sick, I wrote pages and pages of insight that I felt had deep meaning, and in actuality it was the strangest writing.

So there's a possibility that rearranging letters was something he did that was part of the SZ.

Regards,
Christina
