Firstly Hello, newbie here
My names James, I'm 24 yrs old and was diagnosed with paranoid scitzophrenia back in 2005, although i felt i should have been diagnosed when i first went to the doctors in 2001. I'm taking 800mg of Ami-sulphride a day and just don't feel right. I stopped taking my pills for 5 days and became very suicidal, then after taking 1 pill i was happy as larry, but i havn't been happy on these pills at all, i feel very up and down and just don't feel quite right! On my pills i have very strong voices, my paranoia is minimal, my depression is like i said very up and down.. I've been asking to change the medication for over a yr, but nobody listened. my doctor definatly takes everything I say with a pinch of salt as he recently turned me down for disability allowance. UI havn't worked in 3 yrs, and frankly im shit scared to do normal things. i havn't enjoyed life since i was an adolocent. suicide is something in my mind that i want to do, but no quite yet (don't worry to much) also i sleep for about 3 hours average a night(5hours less than i would like too) and when i goto sleep i have nightmare hullcinations before sleeping, like im in a trans lucid state.. and as this happens i find it hard to sleep. the way im feeling my doctor is at risk from me, because he's IMO very poor at what he does... so i guess what pills could i try? (i've tried elazpium, risperidol & ami aulphride so far and ami-sulphride has had the best results) and what can i do to make a doctor believe me im ill (other than the obvious beat him and the rest of the world up) any help is much appreciated, as hopefully it will save my life ;-) cheers jimmy the happy unhappy person who doesn't know if he's coming or going.. |

Jimmy,
I am not a professional, you need professional help. However, I can suggest that if your doctor genuinely isn't working out, find a new one. You may need an anti-depressant, as I've said, discuss this with a healthcare professional to see what drug options you have. My depression comes and goes, and it is manageable. You have expressed that yours isn't, so you may want to call 1 (800) 273-TALK (8255) to speak with a trained and caring person on a hotline. I have symptoms of the illness, and they are manageable because the drug I'm on for the most part works. Is your doctor part of a clinic where you can change doctors and see someone else? I suggest you read other people's SharePosts here to get inspiration. There is hope. Regards, Christina |

Hello Jimmy,
Just a short reply again. I'm on Geodon, the maintenance dose, and I take it as prescribed, every day. I was on Stelazine for 20 years, and it stopped working. I've never heard of ami-sulphride, is that an antipsychotic? Other drugs include Abilify and Zyprexa, you may be a candidate for Zyprexa or Clozaril, which sometimes help people whose symptoms are resistant to other drugs. The Geodon helps me to sleep better, too. Not all drugs will eliminate all symptoms at all times, a lot of people have what's called "residual symptoms." Again, I suggest you read other people's SharePosts to see how they deal with it. Best, Christina |
