We must trust God for He is the real healer ....
A dear one in 2002 got sick and was hospitalized, (still is). There was progress but kind of slow and with same simptoms. Once I learned this illnes can be controled but seldom cured, I made the decision that God was the only one able to cure this dretful illness, so I prayed and prayed and gone to church every Sunday and asked God for her cure. Not to long after this I got an answerd and she tells me that " the voices have stopped", 100% improvement but still under medication. My question to all is if you know any cases where the voices have stopped and later returned? Also, if you know anyone completely cured. All I know now, is that the Hand of God has touched my daugther. And, keep praying for her complety recovery, which I believe can happen. This message has been edited. Last edited by: jaireb, |

Since I'm officially blogging for SZConnection now, I wanted to respond to your query.
The symptoms of schizophrenia can be controlled enough for the voices to stop. They could return, however, under moments of stress or if the person discontinues her medication. My experience has been that if someone goes off her meds, she will relapse. A lot of anti-psychiatry folks, including one well-known "guru," suggest weaning a person off the meds slowly until she doesn't need them any more. This simply doesn't work. One of my dearest friends has recently been a casualty of this approach. I think of her everyday and she is always in my mind. Please, I urge you to accept that taking medication is a necessary part of recovery. I can honestly say it was the reason I recovered and have as active and healthy a life as I do now. To be "cured," or spend your energy wishing you were "cured" isn't helpful. Living with SZ has given me tools: sensitivity and compassion, for example, that I wouldn't have if I weren't living with the challenges of SZ. One can recover, without a doubt. However, to go without medication doesn't mean one has recovered. The chances are, a person won't recover fully if she goes off her meds. I stress this because I feel I have an obligation to. As someone who has lived 20 years with SZ, has numerous friends with SZ, and reads blogs and memoirs by people with SZ, I know that "going natural" is not the way to go. I wish your daughter the best, jaireb. Recovery is indeed possible. Keep hopeful. |
