Hi - I was diagnosed about 2 months ago with RA. I am an emergency room nurse and am having difficulty with my hands. I started on Methotrexate just this week. I am wondering what experiences others have had with this medicine. I am feeling exhausted and nauseaus at this point - was wondering if this passes? I am also doing a tapered prednisone burst -to hopefully keep me going while the methotrexate kicks in. I am trying to stay positive because I really love my job and don't want to have to give up working directly with patients. Any comments would be appreciated!
I have RA as well. I found an additional form of help that I would like to share with you. It has made a tremendous difference in my life. I like you was exhausted all of the time. Now I have my life back again.
Feel free to contact me at esbest@sbcglobal.net and we can talk.

My aunt has RA and has really been struggling with it. She is exhausted all the time and experiences flu like symptoms because of the methotrexate. If you wouldn't mind sharing your knowledge with my other aunt (who's account I am writing from), I would greatly appreciate it!
Hello, I too am taking Methotrexate for Ra. I started out on pills, but I am now using injections. I have been in "a flare up"for six months. I am also using relafin, and prednisone. I am completely exhausted and nausea comes and goes. Pain is not quite under control as of yet.(at this point it seems that my patience is being put to the test.) Other than vitamins, does anyone have any suggestions for the fatigue and tiredness? Also does anyone know if there is any environmental factors that may increase our odds of getting this?
I have been on MTX with folic acid since February. No side effects, thank God! It is to suppress my immune system due to my systemic scleroderma I was diagnosed with in January. My fatigue is due to the disease, not the MTX. It does take a few months to kick in, I understand. I am also taking prednisone (since January), and neutronin for the nerve pain in my feet.
I think my symptoms are just due to RA. Today was a horrible day. I am swollen like crazy, fingers especially. Hope to see improvement soon! I am open to suggestions if anyone has any.
