My first sx was in April 2008 with abrupt onset Raynaud's. No previous sx or hx. Work up all negative except RF 105. ANCA panel neg, ESR, CRP, CCP, Hep B & C, anticardiolipin , cryoglobulin all negative. Most pain in fingertips, esp pads of fingers and toes - Rheumatologist wants to start me on Plaquenil.
Age 58, hx breast ca 1997 with excellent prognosis. Aleve essentially ineffective and short 6 day course prednisone minimal effect.
Concerned with all these drugs, DMRA, TNF, biologics etc, however want to start tx as early as possible to prevent permanent damage.
Most of what I read and hear does not include Plaquenil alone as initial tx. Realize I am not a candidate for biologics with hx breast ca but targeted B cell tx is a possibility. How soon would I be eligible for that and what type of side effects are you hearing???
