I had my first remicade infusion on 9/7 and 9/13 I started out the day having pains in my back, stomach and continually felt worse all day. By the time I got home from work, I started with bad flu like symptoms and fever and every inch of my body hurt. I was taken to the hospital and things went down hill from there. At some point in the ER, I became tachycardic, my blood pressue bottomed out and I stop breathing. I spent the next 10 days in the hospital, 6 of them in the ICU. According to all of the docs. that worked with me, they found no infection or any other reason other than a Remicade reaction to explain what happened. Has anyone else experienced a similar reaction?
My daughter had a treatment on Dec. 3 2007 she recieved about 1.5 hours of the treatment this time because her blood pressure droped and she became incoherent, her back ached so bad she couldn't walk, (demerol was given to her) she was sick to her stomach, this continured into the evening were she developed 102.5 temp, next morning she was ok, she went to work on 12-6-07 and became dizzy speech was impeded (studdering) couldn't remeber where she was, her employees to her to hospital where upon many test where taking and a condesending Dr. from Kishwaukee told her there was nothoing wrong and to contact her Dr. on Monday . She saw her DR. and couln't believe her studder, the ER Dr wasn't concerned and let the arthritis Dr. know that, We now have to find a nuerosurgeon that will take her public aid card!

i had a scary incident today. it was my 4th remicade infusion so i thought nothing of it since i have had NO side effects. i had to bring my kids (4 and 6) bc they were sick home from school. rite after it started i started itching all over and they gave me a benedryl shot in the iv. they said they would wait on some other shot. the next thing i knew my blood pressure dropped, i started sweating, thought i would vomit and couldn;t talk or move. my kids noticed and got help. they gave me some shot and thank god my husband arrived to get the kids and i layed there until i could sit up and talk. they have discontinued the remicade but now i am scared of all the drugs. any advice?
