I have both RA and diabetes. I'm having a difficult time finding a way to control the two together. I can take medicine for the arthritis pain but it shoots my blood sugar count out of control so I cut back. I can exercise to control the blood sugar levels, but the RA makes exercise impossible sometimes. Anyone have suggestions on coping with these 2 diseases at the same time?

My boyfriend also has DM and RA, a difficult combination since each alone is difficult enough. He has avoided taking steroids due to the fact his blood sugars were off the charts too after 2 days of taking them, so i think it's harder to find relief for the pain, as some other RA patients. I think he is going to start a biologic med next to help with the RA. I would really like to know how you have been dealing with both of these challenges since this post is over a year old. Thanks...
