Rheumatoid Arthritis

I'm 41 years old and about 4 months ago I was diagnosed with RA. My family doctor gave me predinsone for pain and to help with my energy. My RA Doctor is now slowing getting me off predinsone but I absolutely feel terrible... like I have the flu.

I went back to the Dr yesterday and he gave me something called Cymbalta. It's an antidepressent. It is supposed to help my brain produce ceratonia. I took a pill yesterday morning and I must tell you... I felt absolutely GREAT! It's not had the same effect on my this morning but I don't feel as bad as I do without it. What can you tell me about your experiences with the flu like symptoms that RA produces and what you do to cope with it? Have you tried Cymbalta?

Hi. I take cymbalta, but for fibromyalgia. I think it does help me with my daily living, but Ive never noticed any "energy" from it. Good luck

Thank you for your reply. I have been feeling much better mentally since on Cymbalta. I purchased a book on RA no long ago and I have a better understand of how depression can sneak up on you and you not even realize it.

I still get headaches at times when I'm under stress in the back of my head... then my neck and shoulders hurt. I know understand it's just another systom of RA and RA related issues.
