Just joined. Diagnosed with RA and fibromyalgia 2 yrs. ago. On mtx. Still feel crappy. Going on permanent disability, which I am still coming to terms with. My question is, what should I expect long term? Will I steadily get worse over the years? I am 48 and have two kids, 12 and 16, and a new husband who is energetic. I am blessed with them. I don't want to get any worse than I am already, but fear that I will. My hips, knees, feet, fingers and wrists are really bad. I should be using a cane to walk, but don't want to get one. Thanks!
My experience is that you will indeed get worse. I was diagnoised in my 20's. I am now 60 and just in the psst year I have gotten so much worse. I am in a wheelchair now (or should be). There is no cure for RA so you just have to hope that the progression slows for you.
