I've haven't been able to find much information about it.. but i have to use actonel for some months until the doctor sees any difference and will decide if i can shift or not to another medicine.. i've found those at http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s3103-s-ACTONEL.aspx
that it is for osteoporosis and also for prevention... do you think it's a good sign? that my doctor doesn't think my osteoporosis is not that serious?

I would like to know how long a person should be taking Actonel. I have been taking it at least 3 years and want to know what would be the changes to stopping this medication.

My aunt is suffering from osteoporosis. She takes some medicines for treatment (usually from rx-drugs24.com ). These tabs are effective for her. Maybe you'll find replacement for Actonel, cause there are many others medications for treatment.

Hi Irene Maria and Maria 55, Welcome to the community and thanks for your questions.

I would discuss this with your Dr. since some experts in the field are recommending Drug Holidays if you've taken an osteoporosis medication for 5 or more years. This recommendation would also depend on your specific medical history, your possible risk of fractures, and any previous fractures.

Here's an article on Drug Holidays from the Daily Herald that explains it: Daily Herald
