I am wondering if anyone has had my experience. I have been battling oseopenia and now osteoporosis for the past 8-9 years; I am now 58 years old. I started with natural estrogen/progesterone, then Actonel which I had stomach problems with, then Evista, and most recently a year of Forteo shots which I completed in 12/06. Much to my dismay, my T scores after using each of these drugs were worse! I tried Actonel again for two weeks with immediate stomach problems.
I am at my wit's end. I thought Forteo was supposed to work. Has anyone else had poor results? I have seen my dr., an endocrinologist, and have one more appt. for a third opinion. My endo said even the doctors don't know why it didn't work. I also saw a naturopathic and am on supplements, which I plan to continue regardless. My endo wants me to do another year of Forteo, but in my mind it hasn't done any good. They always say "well, if you hadn't been taking it, you would be even worse off." How do they know that? I'm not sure if I want to commit to another year.
As you can see, I am very disheartened and frustrated. Has anyone else had negative results even with the Forteo? I have always exercised and eaten well, so I don't get it.
Thanks! I have found all of your comments to be very helpful.
