Mt dad is 82 yrs old w/osteoporosis, He has had 2 lower back compression fractures and 2 balloon kyphoplastys. He is in pain constantly and the dr's give him methodone and propoxy to help manage. My dad is losing weight, has become frail and the pain is too much for him. The dr's seem not to be able to help him. Where can I go to find someone who will listen to him, have constructive help and is symphatetic. I am at a loss and am worried.

Hi: Sorry to hear about your dad... Have you tried a pain management specialist? Since I don't know if you have or not, there are different meds/treatments they could consider. I don't know anything about the meds he's taking but maybe it's just a matter of finding one that works better. There are also things like intrathecal pumps that can be used to deliver meds for pain. I'm not sure how you qualify for these, or if your dad's insurance would cover it, but many people find these very helpful for severe pain.

Finding a pain mgte facility or doc is probably your best bet.

Good Luck
