I just read an article on pharmdaily.com that says prozac increases bone mass. have any of you hear of this as a possiblity? Do you think it is a real possibility?

Don't get your hopes up too high. I've been on Prozac for several years, including the time my osteopenia progressed to osteoporosis (T=-2.2 fell to T=-2.65). Still, the possibility exists that Prozac combined with some osteoporosis treatment might have an effect greater than the treatment alone. I've been on Forteo for 8 months (still also on Prozac), and thus far my BMD improvement is about what would be expected from Forteo alone.

Exactly, the latest buzz you might be hearing about Prozac and bone density is about a study using ADULT RODENTS, not people.

Read the article here:

It takes a long time for science to get from lab rats to human beings.

just saw an article that says the opposite. a study that showed that anti-dep. like prozac can actually result in bone loss. here's a link.
