Hello
My girlfriend suffers from migraines and she has tried everything. The doctors have just started her on Botox injections. But our relationship is suffering and has been for away as the migraines cause her to shut everyone out of her life including me. I'm not going to give up on her as I love her with all my heart but what is one to do or say at a time like this? Any suggestions or advice on the matter would be great. Rob |

I responded to you up in Introductions, so I'll just quote myself here:
I guess you will have to go up to the Introductions thread to get the links to function--sorry. Take care. |

Hi Rob,
I re-read your intro, thanks again for sharing your story. I really feel for you. The other hosts have given you good links, you may want to share them with her. If her doctor is telling her there is nothing else he can do for her, except Botox, she probably needs to find a new doctor, and a Migraine specialist at that. Have you seen the patient recommended specialsit list? Click HERE I'm sure some other partners of Migraineurs will be around to help soon....

Rob, I second what Nut said. I think you should try approaching her at a time when neither of you are stressed out, and when she doesn't have a migraine. Let her know you love her and want to be there for her. Do ask what you could do that would help, and that would not help.
There is a ton of information on this site. If you haven't already, take a look around. Try sharing some of our articles here with her. Has she read Teri's book? If it's possible for you, she may really appreciate Teri's book as a gift. Link on amazon.com is HERE. In the meantime, keep posting here and let us know how you and your girlfriend are doing. We're here for both of you. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" "I do not know. Rob,
Megs and Nutcracker and MJ have already given you some great advice. And Nancy is probably right out the doctor. It's unlikely that she's tried everything as there are over 100 preventative meds! You should definitely sit down to talk when she doesn't have a migraine. Usually when we have migraines our emotions get a little wacky. Some of use get depressed and feel really sad and cranky when our heads hurt. It's really hard to interact normally with people at this time. And usually noise hurts us, sometimes we withdraw to where it is quiet and sometimes that is by ourselves. So that's definitely not the time for talking. Keep us updated. Laurelin |

Rob,
It's literally impossible to have tried everything. There are over 100 medications that can be used for Migraine prevention and nearly endless combinations of them. If her doctor is telling her there's noting left to try, it's time for a new doctor! ![]() Teri Robert Lead Expert, MyMigraineConnection terimmc@helpforheadaches.com
