I'm having one of my "down" days- I've had a bad migraine spell the last three days, and it's just depressing. I'm sure a lot of you can relate, but I can remember when I used to feel somewhat "normal" and it was so nice!
Right now I'm feeling like things are hopeless- the topamax doesn't seem to be working- but I see my doctor tomorrow. Patience is definitely not a virtue of mine so this is a good chance to work on that. Right now it feels good just to have a good cry, even if it doesn't solve anything.

Valerie Honey,

Group Hug Heart Group Hug I am so sorry that you are having a down day. Know that we are here for you. I understand about thinking about how your life was "normal" can make you feel depressed. This disease Stinks, but sometimes all we can do is take one day at a time, or one hour at a time and wrap ourselves up in a nice soft blanket.

Is there something to help you get you through this, a ice bag, nice lavendar scent, a nice warm bath?

Also, it has been three days, have you had a four hour break from you migraine while awake? If not, it might be time to go to the ER to break this migraine.

Take care of yourself and know we are here for you Group Hug

Valerie I think a good cry is very under rated and can release alot of tension and stress. I sometimes feel alot better after a good cry. It just feels good not to hold it all in. You go through so much every day trying and hoping it will all work. You're right, we've all been there, but tonight you're the one who needs the help getting through it.

Use your impatience tonight to write down your questions and concerns about the topamax. It might not be working. Your doctor can help you decide that tomorrow. If not, than you'll start again. You know there are many other options and you do want your life back so you will and can keep trying. We are all here to help you through that.

Dar gives hugs, I'm for cake Birthday Cake and a warm anything, bath, shower, bed, cat, you name it!! Anything soft and cozy.

Take care girl. Let us know how you are feeling and what the doc says tomorrow.

Cindy

Aww, Valerie, I can certainly sympathize (a little too well right now) with your "down" day. Just remember that even if the Topamax doesn't end up working out for you, that's one step closer to finding the treatment that does work.

And you're right, sometimes having a good cry helps a lot! I'll give you some hugs too. Group Hug Heart Group Hug

Hang in there, and let us know how your appointment goes, ok? We're here for you, no matter what.

I felt like crying the entire time I was topamax. I'm not saying it makes everyone "weepy" but it sure did for me. I cried at the drop of a hat and was so depressed I could hardly function. Don't fight what you feel. If you want to cry . . . cry! We'll cry a little for you too. Crying

Thanks Dar, Cindy, MJ, and Hoopsky for all of your hugs, understanding and support. I went to my doctor today, and he decided to increase my dosage of topamax since I've only been on it for a little over a month, and have had hardly any side effects(my dosage is 75 mg right now). He's also increasing my lexapro dosage from 10 to 20 mg a day, and changing my abortive from frova to maxalt.
I also ended up getting a shot of toradol and phenergan to end a migraine streak I've been having, so I'm feeling better today.
Thanks again- you guys are so great Smiler

Good appointment, there was action involved. I'm impressed he gave you something than and there to deal with it. I like that. When do you go back for your next f/u?

Glad to hear you are feeling better. How long does it take the antidepresent dosage to kick in?

Take care,
Cindy

Hi Cindy- I go back for the next follow up in 4 months- I've been on Lexapro for the past 2 years on the 10 mg dosage. He just now increased it to 20 mg, so I guess I will be feeling the effects of that in about 3 weeks- thanks for asking!
