Here is how my afternoon has played out.
Sol: Bad HM attack needs treatment at the nurse room On her doctor's day off (today) it has been arranged that if I call any nurse room with in the HMO system they can can the ball rolling with her meds. The nurse looks up Sol's contract and the doc of the day at said nurse room signs off.... EASY right? HAHAHAHA... So I call the nurse room at the clinic closest to us. They know us so that helps. Sol usually gets her shots either here or at the nurse room at the clinic her doc works out of... So... Me: Hey nurse so n so Sol is having a bad attack so can we get the ball rolling on her meds? Nurse: Sure thing Me: awesome thanks see ya in about an hour 5 mins later.... Me: Hello? DIffernt nurse: Yeah hi umm we can't get the meds for Sol she has to call her docs office and have the doc of the day there but in an order and then we can have the doc of day here sign it.. Me: um ok but in the past.....blah blah blah.. Nurse: yeah well no that is not our policy. Me: so let me get this straight if I call her docs office and wait the hour for the doc of day call me back ...and the doc puts an order in then YOUR OFFICE will have YOUR doc of day sign it? Nurse: yeah Me: NUrse: yeah Me: ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...ok *I call the nurse room at Sol's doc's office and explain what is going on* Nurse: WHAT that is crazzzzzzzzzzzy we have walk ins from other clinics ALL the time. Heck its not like this is NEW for Sol...she has gone to that other nurse room a hundred times... (then she mumbles to fellow nurse asking her if se has ever heard of this policy).. Me: Nurse: well umm OK I will get the ball rolling and have the doc of the day ....but........the doc of day is gonna ask WHY the other clinic cant....nevermind OK i will do it..you will get a call from us when the order is in... Me: Thanks and we appreciate all you do So for now I will keep on banging my head |

Oh Dave I am so sorry. You two should not have to go through this, not ever. You have to go through enough.

How frustrating. I hope you guys were able to get in. I suppose it's just the way it goes... when we're in the greatest need is when the newbie shows up.
Praying Sol is feeling better and you're both able to get some rest tonight. |

I really hope you were able to get the injections done last nite. Don't you hate the beauracracy? I think the hardest thing about this condition is dealing with Office Staff. "Staff at Physican's Office" should probably be on a list of common migraine triggers... lol.. Hope Solie is feeling better today! |

Sorry I missed this last night, and so sorry you had to go through this. What a ridiculous barrier to have to go through.
I really hope everything worked out and you got the injections you needed. You two are such a wonderful team, and so organized - how frustrating to have the system break down. And we all know how important fast action is in a crisis. Grrrrrr..... Let us know how this turned out, OK? I'll be thinking of the two of you till I hear back. Lynne P.S. My experience in these situations has been a strong urge to bang someone ELSE'S head against the wall, so I'm impressed that you didn't become completely loud and irrational. Of course, that's when they call the guys in the white coats ... I guess we all know better than that. Anyway, I think it's better strategy to quietly vomit on their shoes or something. |
