It's been a tough day- after some discussion on this forum, and talking to my doctor, I had to stop taking the relpax I was on due to the MOH headaches I was having, determined to stop the vicious cycle. Yesterday was okay, I was able to go to work with a manageable headache. Today I had to come home I was in so much pain. I called my doctor, and they are calling me in a prescription with a steroidal content to help with the inflammation, so maybe I'll feel better tommorrow(I have to work). Extremely frustrated and depressed over this- having to miss work(I'm hourly, so I'm out the money). I know things will eventually get better though.

Well think of it this way - you know now!

I know it is one horrible lesson to learn - trust me, been there, done that!

In my opinion, I think that the MOH are worse then some of my migraines just because you don't know how long it will last and there is hardly anything you can do for it.

You were smart to call your doctor, I suffered through mine with ice packs! Not fun at all!!!

Take it easy this weekend. Yeah it really stinks you are out the cash, but at least you will be feeling better soon!!!

Try ice packs if the pain is unbearable - I know it's not 100% but it takes a bit of the edge off.

Good luck my dear! I hope it passes soon!!!

I expect most of us here know all about MOH. Like I always say, I have that t-shirt in more than one color.

The icepaks are a real survival mainstay. I use a sleeping mask to block the light, an icepak on my face, and icepak on the back of my neck, and have been known to take a little benadryl to help make me sleepy. If I can just sleep at least it doesn't seem like hours and hours.

My prayers are with you that it breaks soon. If not, on Monday call your doctor, simply trying to survive a long stretch isn't the only thing in the arsinal. You can get into status like that. Worse comes to worse, he may need to help you break it, which could mean hospitalization even, depending on how he treats.

Hi Valerie

When dealing with my MOH from oxycontin, it took about 12 days to stop the cycle of pain. For me, warm showers, taking walks and going up and down the stairs helped with the "funky" feelings in my legs I had from time to time. Now that was from opioids, not saying that is going to happen to you.

But, it may take 10-12 days to feel better and I'm glad you're in contact with the doctor. I wasn't and suffered, there's no reason for you to.

The end result will be worth it, really. Hang on.... you'll make it.

Good for you for talking to your doc, Valerie. MOH is no fun. Don't be afraid to call your doctor's office to talk to the answering service over the weekend if your pain gets really bad. That's what the answering service is for.

We're here for you in the meantime - hang in there. Group Hug Heart Group Hug

Thanks for everyone's support- I was able to come to work today after my doctor called me in a prescription for some kind of steroid medication to help with the inflammation. It's definitely helped with my pain level.

I'm glad the steroid medication is helping with the pain, and that you were able to sleep.

In my one (and hopefully only ever) rebound experience, it took about three weeks to be fully rid of it all. It was about three days before I noticed a decrease in pain after axing the Excedrin. And, of course, the pain did the notch-it-up thing before it did start to ease, so those first couple of days were pretty snarly. After I knew it was good and gone, I stayed away from Excedrin for another week or so before I gradually worked it back into occasional use. From then I've had no problems with it. I don't use it any more, though. Generally the only OTC pain reliever I use is plain old aspirin.

Forum time was very, very comforting when I was getting out of rebound. It really helped me feel like I was still connected to something and doing the right thing. It was very good for the sanity level.
