Well, after making it 3 months and 2 weeks on my countdown to full menopause (and hopefully a reduction in migs), I got my period this morning. Pleah! I was really hoping that things were starting to settle down.
It's possible it has something to do with the Medrol dose pack I'm taking, because Medrol can cause menstrual irregularities. I'm hoping that's all it is and that it's just a light one and the last one. Pleah... LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) |

Nothing like a good dose of steroids to mess around with anyones cycle.

Thanks, Nancy and Laura!
You know, I was looking over my migraine diary today and my feeling that I might finally be showing some signs of improvement is starting to show up in the data. Over the last 14 days, I only had migs on seven of them. That's an average of one every other day, or 14-15 a month which is a huge improvement from 20-25 a month. I've probably jinxed myself by posting this, and I don't want to get my hopes up just to have them dashed again, but still, it stands to reason that all the different things going on should finally help my brain settle down a little. The past two days have been mig free. I love the two day breaks. I feel so much better physically and emotionally after two days okay. I have a doctor's appt today though, so it's highly likely I'll get a mig later today. But that would be an average of one every 2 days or only 10 a month. Oh, joy, oh, bliss, that would be so wonderful! Please, please, please??!! Later... LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. Oh I know how you feel. When there is no pain (which is rare) it feels like a celebration. Then it sneaks back in and the resentments builds and builds.
Now we have to work at breaking the pain and the resentment. Oh yes, and living life too!! |

I did get a migraine yesterday from going out to the doctor. I currently get a migraine EVERY time I leave the house. Can't handle the light, the noise, the activity.
But I still think my head is starting to settle down. The mig came back again today, but if I can hold it to two days, it will keep my new every other day average going. So tomorrow is full bed rest again. Wish me luck! Oh, and I got my Petadolex in the mail today. That's the butterburr supplement from Germany. I've decided to try it before biofeedback or accupuncture (the next things on my list), since it doesn't require leaving the house! I'll start it tomorrow. Won't know results for sure for like two months, as with most preventives. But at least it's something else to try. Cheers! LauraSue.
