Yep, I like the lotions & laundry products too! Big Grin But I looked at the vitamins- I'm sure they're good but they have too much of this and not enuf of that for me - when you know what you need, you're harder to fit, eh?

I got two good ones this week.... Not to dig up an old post, but you guys gotta hear this...

A girl in my class asked me if I had tried "Head On"... let's just say that my first response wouldn't make it through our 'family friendly' filter Embarrassed... I immediatly apoligized and said "okay, obviously you aren't aware of what migraine disorder is, so let me explain what this is"

Not my finest moment, but I was mid migraine at the time, so I get a little snippy with people when I am in a lot of pain...

The second one is BETTER.... What makes me the maddest is it is from a friend who actually suffers the occasional migraine.

She recommended I try DRINKING MORE WATER!... Okay, water is really good for you, and granted I don't drink enough, but ARE YOU KIDDING? yes, drinking 8 glasses a day will magically make my NEUROLOGICAL disorder disappear!!! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?!?!?!?
Mad (BTW... what happened to our Frying pan guy?? )

I have realized the only person I haven't had to have the "Have you tried _____ ?" convo with is DBF.... I'm just so sick of having this converstaion.... Like I'm some kind of idiot or someone who hasn't done nearly as much research on the topic as I have knows sooooo much more about what I am going through....

Ugh....

I liked the frying pan guy, too, though I don't think I'd ever used him myself.

He was removed because he was triggering migraines for some people. I have to admit my appreciation of him is not worth someone else enduring a migraine.

Try this one instead: Head Banging

Take care.

I think the only thing that has ever stopped people from suggesting things to me is telling them that I've gone through three doctors already who have not been able to help me and I'm waiting on an appointment with a fourth. Usually (not always) then they realize that whatever they're suggesting doesn't add up to the combined knowledge of the doctors I've either had to move on from or fire. Roll Eyes

Kat,

I know! Sometimes I just want to be super sarcastic but if I'm in the middle of fighting the beast, my wits aren't quick enough to respond. Then afterwards I think of the best come backs ever LOL.

Funny how Head On has come out with a dozen other products to wipe on other parts of our bodies, huh? I guess they found the "cure" for everything!

LauraSue said it very wisely in the TeaRoom the other day:

People are funny. They care, but they also need to fix us, don't they. Having something that can't be fixed is too scary to them.

They want to find "the cure" for us - and I wish they could!

Funny thing, Kat, I think both things you mentioned are useful for migraines - I think Head-On helps - it is like an ice-pack. However, peppermint oil, bio-freeze, and icy-hot work just as well and are cheaper. And then dehydration is a migraine trigger, and drinking lots of water seems to help resolve a migraine. I know it does for me - especially once I've taken a triptan I need tons of water. I think what people don't get is - there are many things that may be worthy of being in our toolkit - but that doesn't mean they're the cure!

I actually had a guy in my business group say that to me last week "I've found the cure for you" - turns out it was some rare tropical fruit which is one of these super-nutriceuticals - did I already share about this? He sits down next to me and says "Megan, good news, I've found the cure for you." !!!! Then he tells me how this woman who was trying to sell it to him (!!) said she had been completely cured of her migraines.

I thanked him for thinking of me and said I'm sure there are many things we can do with nutrition to improve our general health, which certainly helps some, but I didn't see how any one nutritional product could cure a genetic neurological condition that controls how my neurons fire! He got huffy and said "well, that's one way to look at it, that it's neurological!" Snork!

Oh well.

- Megs

Oh, have you guys seen those nasty little sticky patch things you put on the bottom of your feet before you go to sleep?

They are supposed to "rid your body of all the toxins as you sleep" of something hokey like that.....

I'm just waiting for someone to ask me if I've tried that....

Yeah, I just got a "Head-On" comment last week too - I think I'm going to just buy Teri's book in bulk and every time someone says something that is uneducated, I'll just had them a copy and say - "here's why what you are saying I should try won't work".

How 'bout them apples! LOL Big Grin

Eileen,
When I was in the hospital in February for my status migraine, I was joking telling my family that I need those. If only it were that simple! LOL
