This is the second time I've been for a migraine. Thursday I started to get an attack--by Friday it was a full blown 8 and through Saturday it was a 9-10. I took my Axert and it did nothing, and finally had to take vicodin and use my heating pad. The vicodin helped me to rest, since the script was a little heavier this time through, but nothing I did would break the thing.
Today I had to work. I ended up calling in and going to the ER because there was no relief forthcoming. It was still there when I woke up and still severe. Saturday night I was so exhausted from fighting it I would have slept by the toilet if my husband hadn't come and got me and put me to bed. He's had to do everything the past few days and hasn't complained at all. I have to say I was very happy with the ER. They all asked the right questions and no one treated me badly at all. They even left the lights off for me. The doc gave me an IV of Benadryl, phenergan, and Toradol, which actually seemed easier on me than the time I had to go to my specialist's for treatment. I am having an MRI on Wednesday for some other, but probably related problems, so I turned down the CT. This week has just been incredibly bad. It turns out my lymph nodes and sinuses were also swollen, which they believed also contributed to the pain and how long the migraine was lingering. The sucker moved around my head an awful lot, though, I can't think of an area on my head that hadn't been pounding at least once through this. The ER doc said he'd seen many people in the same condition this spring. Now I am just tired. I hate the ER but at least I can go back to this one without fear of the staff not believing me. I'm tired of fighting this thing. I can certainly understand just how this can push someone over the edge because I was walking it last night. Today I just wanted the pain to end if nothing else. At least the treatment worked. aloofelf.blogspot.com myspace.com/leelood5e My disabling chronic illness is more real than your imaginary medical expertise. |

Leeloo,
I'm sorry you had to go to the ER but I'm so happy it was a great visit and the treatment worked. When I went to my local ER the first time I was armed with my medical records so they wouldn't give me a hard time and I brought them with me the first few times I went until my record with them was established. I'm happy to say that in the two years I lived here, I've only come across one "bad" doctor who commented on how many drugs I take. Yep, he used the word "drugs". Grrrr. I hope you got some much needed rest. Take care! Laura Forum Moderator ***You're welcome to enter your birthday, etc in the Celebrate folder so we can party with you!! =) *** |

Leeloo,
I am so sorry the migraine and pain reached such an unbearable point and you had to go to the ER. I do hope you are no continuing to feel better. Your ER experience was at least good. Keep that one on your list if you ever (and I hope you don't) have to go back. Take care and rest, Cindy <url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] [/url] |

Leeloo- I'm so glad you went. Sometimes you just have to to break that kind of migraine, plain and simple. It's just not fun or convenient going to the ER, and most of us really fight it, but we have to do what we have to do to take care of ourselves, and I'm so glad you did!
