this has been bugging me for the past coupe of days so i just have to get it out. i was trying to have some fun this past week and play in a small faculty staff vs student flag football game. its non contact or so i thought. i was "blocking" the quarterback and the RD (who also plays rugby) stepped on my foot ran me over.... down i went and i slammed my head on the ground. to anyone else it wouldn't be a big deal, to me not so minor. to the ED i got sent, couldn't tell if it was a concussion or a migraine and they wanted to cover their behinds.

all i wanted to do was have some fun but its like everything i try to do is a major risk for a migraine, soccer, dodgeball, non contact flag football. everything that the school finds as a fun thing i have to think twice about now. i guess its a bit frustrating because i just want to go out there and have a normal college life. i already gave up collegiate sports which used to be my life.

thats it. thanks for listening.

best.

Kate,
I'm sorry to hear about what happened. I'm glad they covered all the bases.

I understand what you mean about feeling restricted. That you can't do anything 'fun' because of our disease. It's really taking a toll on my life right now, and I know it is on yours as well. I wish things could be different for all of us. Where's our Genie in a Bottle when we need him? That would be my first wish - make everyone who has migraines never have migraines again.

Kate,

How I wish I had something wise and profound to say that would help you, but I'm afraid that this disease we have is truly baffling! I just want you to know that you are in my prayers and thoughts! Heart

I know that sometimes the emotional pain that comes with migraines is almost worse than the migraine itself!

I'm hoping that you find something FUN to do that allows you to enjoy your college experience without laying the groundwork for a migraine!

Oh, Kate,
I love swimming! It's the only exercise I can do where I don't notice I'm sweating! I also tend to not overheat while I'm swimming. And, it's a good cure for insect bites, especially fire ant bites.

Now, here's Fingers Crossed that the pool isn't over-chlorinated to the point you trigger. I wore goggles, and showered before and after. When I swam at The Citadel (yes, the military school), I had no problems. The College of Charleston's pool tended to have more chlorine.

If my friends' sailboat weren't at our dock, and we had a good ladder there, I'd swim in the creek. I could just stay in one place, what with the tides. Yes The salt water would act like an epsom salts bath.

hey guys-

on a different note-
i'm meeting with my disability services director to see if its possible to get a medical single room at my college. my doctor wrote a note pretty much telling the college its a necessary thing at this point. the stressors of trying to live with roommates just isn't working. its making my headaches so much worse.

keep your fingers crossed this gets approved and housing has the room.

hope you everyone is having a good day

best.
