OK so my head is semi together... and I'm in desperate need to have a rant to a bunch of people who understand exactly where I'm comming from... thanks guys gotta love this forum lol
So... I was admitted to hospital last week after having the most gruelling migraine I've ever had in my entire life (rock on childbirth I'm ready lol) and have just got home after crashing at my parents for a few nights.... What a flippin' mission... finally they gave me some pain meds via i.v and also tried a metachlopbromide infusion (instead of chlorpromazine which I have a drug reaction to) as an abortive which didn't work.... ARGH! The E.D. doctor was saying that when you get a migraine your gut stops working so any drugs you take orally to break a migraine or as pain relief wont work because you cna't absorb it... then asked me if I wanted to try a sepositry... hey mate seriousy you can stab me with needles but there is no way in hell that I'm going to let anyone stick anything up my bum no matter what sort of pain I'm in! Anyhoo I managed to get a bed on the neuro ward... but didn't get a room to myself this time... on the first night... had some old lady in the bed across the way yelling at me "I'm not keeping you up dear... AM I DEAR? IM NOT KEEPING YOU UP??"... then the next morning the cleaner came round with a vacuum cleaner... the lights got turned on etc... I just totally broke down and bawled my eyes out.... the nurse gave me some morphine (and a cocktail of some other drugs enough to sedate an elephant) which I got a little bit of relief from... then low and behold the old bat across the way decided to play her radio at full blast (obviously she was born waay before the time of headphones)!! I could have smothered her with a pillow given the chance (luckily for her I couldn't move elt alone get out of bed), on the second night the old lady began yelling out to the nursing staff "OH THE PAIN... THE PAIN... OHHHHHHH" instead of ringing her friggin' bell which was in her friggn' hand!!! anyway they moved her out of the room... and drugged her up I imagine.... just as I started to drift off I got woken up by nursing staff for neuro obs... "do you know where you are?... what's you're full name and date of birth?.... what month is it?... what year is it?" I could only answer as a gargle and couldn't get my words out right... and got nasty bright lights shone into my eyes....the next morning I had to endure more painful pokes and prods from the neuro doctor... the last ngiht had a lady next to me snore like a friggin' chainsaw ...the next day got more drugs pumped into me and had a good midday sleep felt a bit better and was discharged... then when I got back to my parents place I began to feel really under the weather again... nearly collapsed as my body wasn't working again... anyway that was all good in the end after some more sleep and drugs... got a prescription which the hospital doc said they would fax into my pharmacist and GP etc.... went in today to get a medical certificate and GP hadn't even been sent the discharge notes... went to the pharmacy to get prescription and it hadn't been faxed.... ARGH!!!! and now I have to wait until it goes through to get my new meds!! ARGH!! I HATE THE HEALTH SYSTEM!!!! and that concludes my rant for today! Smile... it makes people wonder what you're thinking about |

I've noticed much the same kind of things when I or my family members have been in the hospital here in the US. The hospital is definitely no place to be when you're sick and you need rest. If you are lucky enough to fall asleep, you can count on being awakened within minutes for something or another.
You just vent away, and we'll give you hugs to help soften the blow. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

kiwiE-J -
What a nightmare! I think maybe they make hospitals that way on purpose to make us want to get out and get home faster! When I was a teen I was in the hospital for surgery and the girl in the room with me made death threats against me because my parents asked her to turn down her radio so I could sleep - yes, they moved her to another room! I hope you're feeling better! - Megan |

not to mention the food was disgusting lol I'm pretty sure they plan on making your stay at hospital a living hell to save money lol... I had to go out to the shop yesterday to buy a whole lot of junk food to get my weight back up... I've lost round 2.5 round 3 kg over a two week period... and tonight I'm gonna cook some "real" food!! hoorah!!
Yes I am soooo thankful to be home... apart from walking through the door to see the flat in absolute shambles... my flatmate came up to me and was "OH by the way I'm having some mates over tonight until late" ARGH!!! hopefully tonight I will get the place to myself.... if not then my flatmates are going to meet the E-J from hell!!! OMG Megan! death threats? that's incredible! apparently we had a homeless guy who came on teh ward trying to steal patient belongings and drugs... he ended up being escorted out by security... I was too drugged up to really notice...lol Thanks droolie for the hugs and for letting me vent Smile... it makes people wonder what you're thinking about |
