i was in the hospital for almost 10 hours for migraines. and something really strange happened. i was with my best friend, shes also a nursing student. when i was talking to the doctor we set a goal, how i wanted to leave the hospital. i said, lets have the pain level be a 3 or a 4. my friend looked at me and said, wait a 3-4 and thats acceptable? and i said, i'll be lucky to walk out at that level. then she said to me, what the normal level for you, i replied a 6. she then said, i don't know how you and other people like you do it.

i guess my point is that finally someone kind of opened their eyes a little bit to our world. and realized how hard it is day in and day out for most of us to lead daily lives and not let our disease dictate our lives.

So i just wanted to say Kudos to everyone, for getting out of bed/ going to work/ not letting this disease get you the best of you. We didn't choose to live this life, this life chose us, but we are LIVING life, no matter what it is that you do.

Best.

Bravo Kate. People have a hard time understanding that there are days we're happy just to have low enough pain levels to function moderately normally.

I'm glad your friend is becoming more understanding. That is great! Good for you for helping get the word out that this is not an easy disease and just being able to leave the house some days is a huge accomplishment!

I'm glad your friend understands a little better now. I had a similar revelation from a friend not too long ago. I didn't know she ever got migraines, and I guess it's not a common occurrence for her but she texted me one night and told me that she had a horrible migraine and couldn't even get up and she didn't know how I could be like this every day. So very true. Your average pain level sounds like mine... It's like it's a treat to be under a 5 or 6...

Kate,

I am so glad that your friend could gain that understanding. With all that we deal with, its nice to recieve that validation from those we care about. Its a relief to know they understand just that much more. Kudos to you and your friend!!!

Were you able to get some relief from your hopsital visit?

i do have some great friend and this friend has totally been there for me thick and thin but this was the first time that she really understood what a hard time i had been having and how hard it can get.

yes thanks for asking. the hospitals around my area are some of the best around so i am truly thankful that i am able to get the care that i can get. i had a great doctor that night who was receptive to my ideas and was willing to work with me to try to get me comfortable enough before having me leave that night.

i hope that you are finding some relief yourself as I have been reading up on some of your last posts.

hope everyone is well.

best.

Kate,
You seem to be rather close to me. I was wondering what hospital you go to and who you see for a specialist in our area? Do you have a facebook where we can chat?

Oh poo, I triggered the filter, let's try this again...

Kate,
It looks like you're not too far from me... I was wondering what hospital you go to and who you see for a specialist because I'm in serious need of a helpful one. Do you have a FB (that would be what triggered the filter I assume) where we can chat?

Definitely look me up... Melissa Pappas in the Manchester NH network. The one I use is the one with the picture of my DBF and I. I'm friends with a bunch of the girls on here...
