I woke up with a migraine today. It's the third one this week. I can tell that this one is going to be bad. I went ahead and came into work but now I think I shouldn't have. I've taken my Zomig but it doesn't seem to be helping. My whole body hurts.

We are suppose to have some really bad thunderstorms today. I use to like it when we had storms. Not any more. They cause me so much pain.

I'm so tired of hurting. I'm on the verge of tears. I don't want to cry because crying will just make my head hurt more. I feel guilty that I'm letting everyone down. I know that I shouldn't but I can't help it.

Oh Heather,
Does ice help you? I don't know what your job is, but can you put it on your neck while you are working? It is sometimes so hard to know what to do or not to do. Go home, stay and tough it out. I would lean toward going home, taking care of yourself and making up the time if you can.

Take care,

Heather- I'm from Texas too- in my city we're having cloudy weather and it looks like it's going to rain- always a migraine trigger for me too- I'm so sorry about your headache- I hate calling out at work and am afraid to do so and am imagining you are afraid to do so as well. But you realize if your headache gets worse, you may have to- you may have missed the "window" of opportunity for your zomig( the 30 minutes time when you feel the migraine start to come on and when you actually take the medication). I know what you mean about the crying- so many times crying is such great therapy for me and I am not able to now because it makes my headache so much worse. I'll be thinking about you today. Let us know how you are feeling!

Heather sweetheart -

Please do whatever you have to do to take care of you!

Feeling guilty about the Migraine or even its effects (like leaving work if you need to) is like feeling guilty about the thunderstorms!!! You are not in charge of either one. You are in charge of taking the best care of you possible.

Please do what you can to reduce or relieve this Migraine. Leave worrying for another day. We're here rooting for you.

Just reading everyone's responses makes me cry. I HATE it that these migraines make me so depressed. I've talked to a couple of co-workers on the phone. They could tell that I wasn't feeling OK. I think it's time to go home while I can still drive myself home. My boss is understanding. Thanks for the support. Frowner

Heather--

I'm from Texas too and am eyeing that weather with a really troubled feeling. I didn't dare drink my beloved 1 cup of coffee this morning. You must be either north or west of me. I so-o-o feel for you. When I worked at Scott and White, because I worked the OR and needed to be there at 6a.m. I would go in with nasty migraines--it's kinda hard to find a replacement RPh at 5a.m. Then I'd have to BEG for a relief RPh from my dumb boss. Finally, I carried the very unpleasant trash can down to his office, and told him it was all his and I was going home and he could get to work at 5 and cover from now on! You have to think of yourself girl. Hopefully your work won't require such a graphic example of how sick you are, but it's just not worth the suffering!

Get better--go to the ER or better, an Urgent Care, if things don't get better. I know that's a torture dungeon, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Waking with a migraine is the WORST! Mad What I usually do when that happens is pop a Relpax, call my boss and leave a VM to let her know I am going to be at work late or not at all, and go back to sleep for two hours. About 80% of the time, when I wake up I am okay, and can get on with my day. Maybe try that next time.

Glad to hear you left work. What good will you do sitting at your desk not being able to function? I hope you get home safe and feel better when you get there!

It's really great that you have an understanding boss- that's a plus on your side. Sometimes I feel that others are always hearing me say that I have/complain about my headaches. And I feel really bad. My ex-husband used to have chronic migraines, so I know what it's like living with someone who has them. To be honest, it's both frustrating and sad at the same time. Frustrating because you do get tired of hearing about it, and can do nothing about it, but provide every bit of comfort that you possibly can- and sad to see someone you care about in so much pain. As human beings we all have pain, and we can help carry each other's burdens by being understanding. So I hope you don't ever feel bad about your condition- it's part of being human. I hope you feel better and we are looking forward to hearing how you are doing later!

Well, I made it home OK. I took my anti-nausea medication which knocked me out for several hours. My head only hurts a little but my body still hurts a lot. I still feel fuzzy.

I live in the Dallas area and we are suppose to have some really bad storms later. The weather forecaster are saying we might get some tornados. I'm sure that's what has got my migraine started today.

If I could have caught it in time, I'm sure my abortive medication would have worked better. Thanks for all the encouragement. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.

Heather- I'm glad you took care of yourself and went home. I'm from the Dallas area as well, and the weather here is very unpredictable- not exactly great for migraineurs. Let us know how you're feeling tomorrow, okay? Take care!

Group Hug Big, hyooge, scaly hugs for you, Heather! Group Hug

I'm sorry you've been feeling so crummy today, but I'm glad you made it home okay and have managed to get some rest. Storms just aren't fun for a lot of us, for certain.

Heather, I'm checking in to see if you're feeling better. I think a lot of us struggle with the guilt - none of us have asked for the limitations that this disease brings, but we're stuck with them anyway.

I'm glad you did take care of yourself today. Hopefully your weather calms down and you're doing better by the time you read this.

Feel better - know that all of us are always here for you. Group Hug Heart Group Hug

I feel better today. Just a little tired with a slight headache and I still have a few body aches. I notice I'm having problems spelling words and remembering everyday words. I was looking at the paperclips on my desk and couldn't remember what they were called. If I don't laugh, I think I would cry. Big Grin

I have my sleep study tonight. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't want there to be anything else wrong. But, if there is, maybe I can "fix" my sleeping problems.

I hope everyone has a Happy Friday.

Take care. It is Friday. The sleep study can be a good thing. Sleep is one of the biggest contributors to my migraines. So maybe if they do find something, it is something that can be dealt with and that would be good. Answers are always good.

Take care today. Fortunately you don't need to call a paperclip a paperclip very often, you can just hand it to someone. But the word thing is frustrating. It does happen to me alot. My co-workers are getting used to it. We now play word games, kind of like charades. Sick I know. But like you, rather laugh than cry.
