MJ,
I hope the flight went swimmingly!Good luck in Boston and also spending time away from your DBF. Try to take one day at a time and not worry about the following day. All you can do is try to take the best care of yourself in whatever situation. I am hoping and praying you head behaves. I'm possibly flying to CA tomorrow. I'm super nervous. My killer haven't diminished, so I'm concerned about the flight. You are in my thoughts. Have a fabulous time in Boston and Virginia. MJ-I hope your flight was uneventful! I've found that since my mom has severe health problems I've been able to rest with her, or at least that all of my family understand my need to rest more. I hope you can find more restful ways to visit with all your loved ones! I know it can be hard when you want to participate in EVERYTHING... but still have to not push too hard--or you'll pay.
More than just surviving your trip while getting in some good visiting time--I'm really hoping that you get recharged while you're gone! I know it might sound far-fetched, but that's my prayer for you. I'm glad your appointment is so close to your return too. I always spend the two days right before an appointment putting things together... double checking my records, updating med lists, doctor contacts, symptoms list etc... and I love the anticipation it builds for the appoinment... a sense of hope. I think it's that sense that I've done my part, that I'm a prepared patient. |

Logging onto here today and finding everyone's posts really cheered me up. I did make it here to Boston yesterday, and the flight was relatively uneventful. I didn't get any sleep on it (I can't ever sleep on planes, even with Dramamine), but I did check into my hotel early and catch a few hours' nap. I spent yesterday afternoon with my mom and sister which was awesome, even though I was exhausted by the time I got back to my room. And couldn't sleep at all last night.
The conference itself is going well, but my body is not holding up so well. I was supposed to go out to dinner with everyone else here from my firm. Somewhat of a big deal, since they're all principal-level and I haven't met many of them (the ones from our other offices). By the time I got back to the hotel tonight though, my head was pounding and my stomach was churning. So I bailed on dinner. I felt bad doing it, but not guilty, more just sad that I had to bail. I was looking forward to the dinner. But I still have two more days of the conference and dinner tonight would have sapped my energy completely. So, instead, I'm holed up in my hotel room for the night. I know it's the right thing to do, but I wish I didn't have to. I brought with me the pillow made out of DBF's shirt, and my Blob pillow, so cuddling with those helps with not having DBF here. I'll see him soon, too, and I did talk to him on the phone for a while last night. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers, everyone. I can't even tell you how wonderful it was to read all of those posts when I signed on today. I'm still bummed out I had to stay in tonight, but I'm hoping this will help me to feel better in the morning. Oh, and here's something awesome - all of the light bulbs in my hotel room were CFLs, which really aggravate my head. My sister talked to the front desk for me, and they swapped all of them out with incandescents. How nice is that? All she had to do was explain the problem and they were more than willing to help me out. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ “HOPE CAN GROW FROM THE SOIL OF ILLNESS!” This is the theme of 2008’s National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week in September. I'm so glad to hear you are doing okay MJ! I'm glad you aren't pushing yourself too hard.
Great about the blubs. Front desks will accomidate because they want you to come back. Also, in this day of online reviews, they know if they don't accomidate you, the next day you will trash them on the internet! Keep having a good time! |

MJ,
I'm so excited you got to see your mom and your sister! Sounds like you guys had a blast together. Great news about the hotel too. I'm glad they took care of the light bulbs for you, that was very kind of them. Good luck at the conference today and take care of yourself. Thanks for the update, MJ.
What a pleasant surprise from the hotel to change the lightbulbs? Very impressive. And GREAT job on dumping the guilt and not going to the dinner. You know that would have put you over the edge. We look forward to hearing from you when you get home. Travel safely. |

Well, I survived my trip. I'm at DBF's parents house right now in Virginia. DBF and I fly back home tomorrow afternoon.
The rest of the conference went well. My head didn't behave as well as I would have hoped, but it didn't disable me totally, which is good. I tried to take it as easy on myself as I could, and I ended up bagging a lot of the activities I had initially planned in the interest of saving some energy. Saturday morning I had a super-early flight to Virginia for my friends' wedding. The trip wasn't too bad, but yesterday and today were probably my worst pain days. Luckily DBF met me here. So good to see him again! And I got to see many friends from college, including some I haven't seen since we graduated two years ago. So tonight is the last night in a strange bed. Tomorrow we'll be home with our kitty, and while I'll have to go back to work on Tuesday (boo), being home again will mean it's much easier to find food I can eat and, even better, only a few days until I see my new doc!! This was a very stressful trip. It was worth it, and I'm glad I went, I'm just hoping I don't end up paying for it all next week. We'll see. I will be very happy to see my own apartment again and get my body back on a more normal schedule. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ “HOPE CAN GROW FROM THE SOIL OF ILLNESS!” This is the theme of 2008’s National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week in September. I'm so glad you were okay and able to enjoy yourself at the wedding! I know the feeling of just wanting to be home already. I don't travel far or often or for long, and it takes a lot out of me.
And TODAY IS THE DAY!!! I know we all can't wait to hear about how your appointment!!! I really really hope it goes well. |
