Yes, I know, we need advertisements to help with the site, but that darn Excedrin ad drives me nuts!

The 'what ache?' thing - um, yeah, Excedrin for most of us would be as effective as taking an M&M for pain.

Sorry - it's just urking me. Especially on a site where most of us take triptans and rescue meds in the hopes of just lowering the pain a bit.

I wish - WISH that OTC's would help me. But, no. Here I sit, taking Vicoprofen laughing at the Excedrin ad, wishing I could be so lucky.

Thumbs Down

I'm with ya, Eileen! "What ache" my foot! I can't take OTC pain meds anyway (allergic) but when I could, all they ever did for a Migraine was to dull the pain down a touch.

Oh, for the days when Excedrin worked wonderfully on the pain, and sleep alone was a great abortive! Of course, that was before the well-meaning but misguided docs had me popping it like candy for migraine and muscle spasms and wrote me a one-way ticket to rebound. I've really not tried it much since then. I've got some samples, and I've taken some for ick headaches with a cold or something like that. It works well enough for that, I suppose. I don't bother with it for migraine, though, since it can't abort.

It bugs me too Eileen. I always laugh when the stupid commercial comes on. And I typically vocalize at least with 'yeah right, if only'. It's frustrating. And it just gives people more ammunition to say, 'have you tried Excedrin?', or Advil or whatever. Too bad that junk doesn't work. Head Banging

It gives me a migraine when I see it on TV!!! But the damage that it really does is for people who have no clue about migraines to recommend IT!!! I worked with a lady that swore by it. That's because she really didn't have migraines but just regular headaches. And I have had others tell me to take it.

The commercial makes it sound like a migraine is so easy to get rid of! Just take Excedrin! Head Banging

I just glance at it and kinda roll my eyes. Ridiculous--but not worth much more than an eye roll... Roll Eyes

My sister swears by Excedrin Migraine, though. She battles mig with aura and can sometimes abort hers by taking the Excedrin and going to bed. Not sure how it happens, since it's certainly not stopping the migraine process (like a triptan does).

I actually just saw a blog come up in my alerts. This woman was going on and on about how great Excedrin Migraine was. She said she gets Migraines too.

She was taking like 10 pills a day and probably had MOH by the time she finally stopped taking it. She said she had the chills, nausea, all sorts of things after stopping it. She only stopped it because she started to have bruising all over her body, um yeah! 10 pills a day would do that to a person!

Not to mention, if it was really Migraine, how much good was the Excedrin really doing? Maybe that's why she kept taking more and more.....because it wasn't working.

I was actually kidding when I said it gives me a migraine!!! But it does frustrate me and your post Eileen is a perfect example. I get tired of having to explain WHY something like Excedrin Migraine won't help me. Much less all about the MOH thing. Most people just look at you like you are crazy. Roll Eyes

My new response is "Oh, really, thanks for the info" and then I just change the subject. It's just not worth the time and stress on me. I have found that the people who really are trying to help you get better are easy to spot!!! Yes

And Excedrin Migraine is NOT in their vocabulary! LOL!!

I totally agree with the whole Migraine ad but I will say, it did make my MIL ask me over the summer (when they had they whole, "rip my head off" campaign going) if it really did affect how I felt sound and light, so it made for a good starting point into a conversation with her.

Pam-I have a cousin right now that I reconnected with on FB and he is insisting that I can "overcome my reality" with a little mind over matter and "subconscious training". I tried to educate him but he wouldn't listen so I didn't respond to his last email.

Every now and then, if I notice right at the VERY begining I can get Excedrin to work. Maybe 1-2x a month.

I ran across a woman on a writers board who swore all I needed to do was take a nice hot bath with some Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer tea bags. Roll Eyes IF ONLY it were that simple. Thumbs Down
