Just a little support would help. It's the last day of my mediation course. There are 3 people out of the 27 there that I would like to never see again. Unfortunately those 3 are loud enough to drown out the rest of the room. I had a migraine last night, surprise, surprise. I didn't pay $$ and take 5 days of my life for this course in order to listen to 3 contentious people debate the points in the course. I did it to learn the material. I think it is beyond rude when someone hi-jacks a conversation that 27 people are involved in. If they want a platform for their views, let them hold their own course. And see who will sign up for it... not me!

As far as I can see, there's little I can do to avoid another migraine today. I'm up earlier than usual. Slept only so-so. Post-drome. Going to spend another 9 hours in a flourescent lighted interior room with 27 people, at least 3 of whom won't be quiet when others are talking. Dealing with intensive subjects, trying to stay focussed all day. Only real break is for lunch in the even noisier crowded pub-restaurant.

I feel like I'm being whiny. It's just one day to get a certificate I need to start a new part of my career I'm quite excited about. i just wish I could choose the conditions. I wish I was leading the class because I'd make those people shut up. I have spoken to the lead instructor and he promised to rein people in but he doesn't. Very laid back.

I'm going off with Imitrex at the ready. Luckily one of the instructors today is a friend of mine, and lives in the next town to me, so if by chance I can't drive home due to Imitrex, he can give me a lift.

Wish me luck! Send me calm, quiet vibes! or maybe the cone of silence to sit in?

- Megs

Oh, I certainly sympathize. I was in a course once with "two annoying ladies," who kept hijacking discussions of important issues to trivialities. A couple of times the professor stopped them, but most of the time they took over the class.

Good luck today.

Megs,
Do you have any darker glasses (not sunglasses really) but darker glasses that you can wear to help with the lighting?

Oh, or is it in a big room where you can flip like 2 rows of them on and leave some off and still have it well lit?

Good luck today! People who are annoying like that just stink when you are trying to accomplish something. Stick to your guns and push through.

I'm routing for you and a migraine free day!!! Big Grin

Megs--

I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you all day. There's not much worse than those kind of conditions to make for a miserable day and that's for sure. I can commisserate. Only 3 hours of sleep last night, woke with a mig at 3 a.m., then the shoulder hurt and I couldn't get comfortable. The Doc changed some sleep meds Friday. I don't think the new regimen is working at all. Will go back to old stuff and call her tomorrow. Don't need sleep-deprived headaches. Hope you can rest after the miserable day.

Megs- Congratulations on making it through this course and starting on a new phase in your career! I'm so sorry about the 3 people- it seems inevitable in a group that size there are always some people like that.
I hope you can make it through today and tomorrow without a migraine- here's a hug Group Hug

I hope you made it through. Could by chance the 3 idiots flunk the course and not get their certificates? What an irritation, especially after you've spent big bucks for the course.

I hope you're not dealing with a monster today.

Hi dears -

thanks for all your support - there was wi-fi in the conference center so I kept sneaking the laptop open and peeking at the forum! It wasn't so bad today - wrote about it at more length in the tea room. I'm lying down now trying to keep another monster at bay, though I don't think my chances are very good at this point.

I'm pretty excited about getting started with the mediation - have to get my head clear & put my plan together.
