Hi, Helen, welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us.

A high percentage of people with migraine disease also suffer from depression. It's important for you to realize, however, that the hopelessness you feel right now is not based on reality. There IS hope. Please let us know what information you need to give you a greater sense of hope. If you have questions, someone will find you an answer, if an answer exists.

Welcome again.

I realize that depression is not based on reality- that realization does not help when I'm in it though. I'm not looking for any answers- other than ways to make my chronic migraines go away- just understanding.

Well, understanding is one thing you can definitely find here! I understand personally about depression and migraine- it's hard sometimes to see out of the deep pit while in the middle of intense pain.

We're here for you- feel free to vent, or to chat. There's also a depression site here at health central- Depression Site You can get the best of both worlds, should you want to post in both places...

Hugs and positive vibes,

Hi Helen -

Sorry you are feeling so very down now. I can completely relate. Please come around and read and post and you will see how many of us suffer too. I don't know why that helps so much but it does. Just helps get the perspective back I guess. Welcome to the forum. There are great people here and a lot of hope.

Helen,
I relate all to well to the suffering you feel. The last 5 years have been a downward spiral and only recently has it stopped. I only wish I had found the support here sooner than I did. I never could have guess so much true warmth could come out as it does from a website.

You are not alone in your feelings. If there were a way to wish it away for you I would. I can only let you know that I am out here and will help and support you.

Take care. Angel

Welcome to the forum family, Helen. Flower

We truly are a family here and we share each other's pain and also each other's successes. I know how frustating and scary migraines can be, I've had them for over 20 years. I can finally say that I control them instead of them controlling me. It was through this forum that I found a migraine specialist who has given me back hope. I'm forever grateful for this site.

You are not alone! Please feel free to share your concerns and frustrations with us, along with your success stories. That's what we are here for.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Glad you found us. Group Hug

I think we all understand how you are feeling. Being in pain and in fear of impending pain all the time is a depressing and exhausting way to live.

I just try to focus on the things in my life that are going well, or that make me happy. I also just say to myself "There is light at the end of every tunnel. I will be able to manage this." Maybe I am lying to myself, but hey, it gets me to sleep at night.

When I have a migraine, my favorite thing is to pet my cats. Smiler Kind of simple and silly , but it is really theraputic. Big Grin

Hi Helen!

I am very happy you have found us!

Yes, depression is very difficult, and unfortunatly, it likes to rear it's head when we are in constant pain. Just what we need, right! Roll Eyes

I know when I am going through a rough migraine patch - I feel helpless and get very depressed. I cry - for no apparent reason - well I guess the reason is sometimes I feel hopeless.

Then I come here and all my forum family helps me remember what I am fighting for.

We are very happy you could join us. We have been through the very same fight you are going through. Some times are better then others, but we have all been there, done that, have the t-shirt.

We are here for you - so any time you want to talk, come on over and let it out honey, ok?

Welcome again, if you need anything other then the links that have already been provided, please let us know and we will be more then happy to help you.

Hope to see you around!!! Big Grin

Thanks so much for all of your comforting words and support- it means more to me than I can say! Woke up again this morning with another pounding headache- crying makes it worse- so FRUSTRATING- and it's my day off work- I have so much to do- but just lying on the couch makes me feel better, so I guess that's what I will do. Being quiet makes me feel so much better! Sometimes I wish I could lay there for days- terrible isn't it? Again, thanks for all of your wonderful words and time- this is a great group!

Hi Helen,

Being in constant, unrelenting pain is exhausting and frustrating. It eats at your body and soul. No way around that. Hard not to be depressed when feeling poorly all the time, isn't it?

Now, that's that bad news. The good news is, as you can see, we have a great support network here. We also have lots of information on Migraine disease and headache disorders. Information is key to feeling better and getting the best health care for ourselves.

How long have you had this head pain? Any Migraine pain lasting longer than 72 hours, without a four-hour pain-free break while awake, could be a condition called Status Migrainous and need immediate medical attention. Click HERE

What kind of doctor are you seeing? How about taking this quiz to find out Is Your Doctor Right for You?

Please keep us posted, ok?

Helen,
A couple of months ago, I was so depressed and having really bad migraines but I didn't know that they were related. I truly thought that I was loosing my mind. When I found out that people that have migraine disease also get depressed, it made me feel better. Sounds weird, I know. Now, I just let the feelings pass. Some how just knowing that helps me to deal with my depression better. I still cry which doesn't help with the migraine. And, sometimes I feel like I get trapped in a cycle but there is always hope.

This is a great support group. Hang in there.
