God i don't know what to do right now. first off one of the members of my volunteer organization(St. John Ambulance) passed away on Monday due to brain cancer. Second my friends father's cancer has grown and now he can't swallow and they don't know if radiation treatment would help or not. Third on top of my friends dad she has just found out that her youngest daughter might have a stomach ulcer and might end up in Childrens hospital in Vancouver. Fourth my mom's pain in her stomach due to IBS and Diverticulious, has flared up for about 2 weeks now and she's down in vancouver seeing if there is anything that the specialist can do for her. And on top of all this I've had a migraine since Monday. I'm so concerned about my friends family(especially her daughter)but i don't know what else i can do except be there for her and her family. And my mom won't accept my help cause for some reason she thinks she has to do everything and not complain about her pain but it hurts me cause i know she's in pain but again what else can i do? I haved talked to her about it but she won't listen to me.
Anyway i needed to vent and cry a bit so thanks for listening The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. |

Jemima, I'm sorry you've got all this stress right now. I'm sorry for your friend's passing and for your other friend's father.
Of course you want to help them, anyone would. I think just being there for them will be a great comfort. And if you mom won't take help, tell you'll be there if she needs you. Most importantly, take care of you. If you've had the same migraine since Monday, you need to seek emergency treatment. You are probably in status migrainous and at risk for a stroke. I know you've probably seen this link before, but I'll post it again for you. Status Migrainous Deb [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] |

Jemima, Deb is right. You can only be there for everyone else if you remember to take care of yourself.

You're really having a horrible time. Take comfort in knowing that you're doing all you can, especially for your mom. Doesn't it drive you crazy when folks won't accept help and won't even admit that they could use it?

Wow! My take on situations like yours is you do all you can do and cling to knowing that you have. You MUST take care of yourself too. How are you at visualization? Can you lie back and take yourself away from all of this for a while with visualization? You and yours are in my thoughts, Jemima. And, please remember that you can come talk with us about anything, any time. huggles, ![]() Teri Robert Lead Expert, MyMigraineConnection terimmc@helpforheadaches.com

Thanks for the support everyone. I took the advise to go to emerg and they treated my migraine.
Teri: most of the time I pretend i'm a character in one of my favorite books and tv shows to get away from all of this. I've been told that it's silly to do this but i don't think it is at all. Another thing i do, and please don't laugh, is watch Care Bears movie 1 and 2 or any cartoon that i have the movie to. It was just this time I couldn't get away from all of this cause it all hit me at once. There is one good thing at the moment, the HR department at work has extended my disability leave so now i don't have to worry about losing my job. Anyway it's almost 4am where i live so i'm going to go and try to sleep. If your wondering i'm haven't been able to get to sleep tonight and sometimes i find that if i write a little bit in my journal then i can get to sleep better. Since i don't have my journal with me i decided to come here. Night everyone and like i said thanks for the support The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. |

There's nothing wrong about cartoons or Care Bears if they give you a peaceful timeout. I myself like a good Donald Duck or Lilo and Stich cartoon to cheer up with on icky days.
I'm glad the ER was able to treat your migraine, and I hope you're feeling much better, and regrouped. There is a lot going on at once, right now, but you can only do what you can do, one step at a time. Hang in there, and make sure you get some you time in the mix. Big, scaly hugs. Jemima,
Congratulations on getting your disability extended. It's so nice to hear when something works out well for one of us. Glad the ER visit helped your migraine. I've not had to go to the ER yet, but knock wood I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that! Anyway, glad you're feeling better. LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) |

Well i'm still hoping for some good news to cheer me up. In the last week i've been to emerg twice and still have a migraine. I am so tired of the pain i just want it to stop. I'm going to phone my doctor tomorrow and ask what to do cause i feel like i'm using my meds to much to control the pain and it's scarring me a lot. I know that the meds can cause pain if over used and that's what i'm worried about but on the other side i can't handle the pain. I just feel trapped in this cycle.

Sounds like contacting the doctor would be your best bet at this point.

Jemima Kitten,
I agree with Eileen that you should contact your doctor at this point, if you haven't already. Communicate your concerns and frustrations with him/her and try to determine together what you should do at this point, since the tools you have now are not helping. Try to take care of yourself, and let us know how you are doing. Liz |
