Melissa,

My heart goes out to you! How are you doing today? Big Group Hug's headed your way. I hope that tomorrow is a successful day and you can get in to both the new neuro and the migraine specialist's office soon.

Has anyone given you these links for medication assistance in case you need it?

pparx and talkaboutrx.org

I remember how tough times were when my first husband was killed in a motorcycle accident. I went from having two incomes (he was the bread winner) down to just mine and my boys were only 3 and 5 years old at the time he died. It was hard to pick myself up emotionally and financially but with the help of Medicaid and Food Stamps I was able to make it through the rough times. I wish you all the best.

Take care!!

All of your posts here remind me that we all go through hard times. We just have to get through them. Thank you all for your support, advice, hugs and words of wisdom.

Today the sun seems to be shining a little brighter, even if its just my percerption (and that's everything, isn't it?). My hubby managed to find enough money to keep our phone on, the disability company seems to be working with me, I'm making my appoinments with new docs, life keeps moving onward as it does. I'm sure I'll be back in this folder with new gripes, but for right now, this very minute, I'm okay.

Thanks again to all of you, my wonderful, special forum family.

Be well,
Melissa

Hi guys, I'm new here. I have had migraines now for over 30 years and yes they do run in the family. I have had all the tests with proof of the lesions on my brain. I have tried so many medications, plus nutritionalists, botox, chiro, and acupuncture. My drug of choice now is Zomig while using a CPAP machine at night to sleep. (MY sleep study showed my oxygen level decreases 167 times during the night--I do not snore). So far it has not helped and it is hard to sleep with it. I just broke a migraine I had for 7 days. I cannot get to see my neuro until next month. I think I am taking too much Zomig(but what am I to do). My migraines got much worse after I had to have a hysterectomy and they cannot put me on HRT for other reasons.
I feel so sorry for everyone. I had to give up a career(not a job) because of these migraines. People don't really see me when I have them because I literally cannot move. I stay in. MY kids are getting older which is easier. People who know I'm home ask me stupid questions like, "aren't you bored, what do you do all day long".
When I first left my job I went to a psychologist to talk things over. He explained that I am disabled, but because people can't see it, they don't believe it. I feel sorry for my husband who now works alot of overtime, and my daughter works part-time(she is still in high school) and she pays for alot of things herself. Things are tight but people do not see migraines as a disability(they think they are headaches).
Sorry this is long, I needed to vent. Somedays I feel very depressed as I'm sure you all are. Hang in there.

Welcome to the forum family Hangingin, it's great to have you here. Flower

You've found a great place to share your thoughts and frustrations, we all understand what you're going through. I used to have a great career too but I had to quit working in August because my migraines became so frequent. Thankfully, I started seeing a migraine specialist and he is helping me get my life back so there is hope for you too Group Hug

I look forward to seeing you around the forum and if you have any questions, just ask away!
