What a cunning little devil this disease is! I woke up with a migraine yesterday - hit it with Imitrex at 6 am and 9 am and knocked it down to about a 2 where it stayed all day. Woke up this morning with a generalized nasty headache - all over my head, dull and nagging, but not throbbing and not feeling like a migraine.

I think now it was the same migraine just wearing a disguise. I threw everything I had at it - choline magnesium aspirin (supposed to help if it's muscular pain), endorphigen, a little caffeine, ice packs, more sleep. No difference, it just got steadily worse through the day. I started to think maybe it was the migraine, but I had a Dr. appointment to get to and couldn't take Imitrex until after driving there & back. At dr. my blood pressure was pretty high. Mine never is. Drove back, stopped at pharmacy, discovered yet another expensive mess-up by my insurance co on Rachel's meds, felt blood pressure going higher! Came home and pounding started in my temples. I took Imitrex stat dose which has now knocked what was an 8 back to about a 4. Danny is yelling at the insurance co for me! I am lying down and have given up on getting anything done today. Other than getting rid of this migraine.

I was almost crying from the pain when I stopped the car in the driveway. That's rare for me. Sneaky migraine! This is where "take at first sign" gets very complicated - because it wasn't acting like a migraine this morning!

Oh Megs, I am so sorry! Here's a hug Group Hug I hate it when they "sneak" up on you like that- it's too late to take the medication, and then- wham! Try to rest- I hope it breaks later! Let us know how you're feeling.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Megs. I hate when the beastie sneaks up like that. It took me forever to realize that those severe bilateral "headaches" I've had since adolescence were actually migraines in disguise.

As if they weren't bad enough already without disguises!

My head still hurts this morning. Phooey. I haven't moved much - except to get up at 6 and decide I wasn't getting up. Missed my business meeting. Again. I want to avoid 3 days in a row of Imitrex if I can. Blood pressure was quite high at bed time last night, down nice and low this morning. No idea what that was all about.

Thanks Jaimee. I just realized - I guess I'm on status migrainous count-down - head pain started about 8 pm on Tuesday. Though the pain level has gone up and down quite a bit, I have not been pain free, awake or asleep, in that time. If it's not gone by mid-day I'm calling the doctor.

Only question would be which doctor to call! And then what to ask for - I don't have an emergency/rescue plan in place. Lame-o useless neuro I saw in Feb answered my question about rescue meds "if you use the triptan early enough we shouldn't have to worry about rescue" and while I said "but..." he left the room. I guess I'll call my main PCP - if he doesn't know what to use he can find out and I trust his judgment. I'm going to look up what Teri and y'all have listed for rescue on this site so I can discuss it with him.

Needless to say - this was not on my agenda! Head Banging

Hey Heather, MJ thanks - and Gret those were really great words of encouragement - made a big difference to me, really. I stopped being upset and just thought - right, I'm taking care of myself.

I took Imitrex in the early afternoon and it seemed to finally knock this out - spoke to the nurse at my PCP's - she's very nice, and we made a plan for the holiday weekend - I'm to call the on-call dr. if the pain comes back. Now a little dizzy and weak and post-dromish but I really think this is moving out. Danny made me a nice dinner and we're watching "Monsoon Wedding."

G'night guys.

Hi guys - thanks for all the love, carrying me through! I woke up feeling good today. I've done a bunch of kitchen clean-up, a little cooking, and lots of sitting and reading and foruming. Definitely still a little tender in the head. Still post-drome. I am taking it slow (I promise). I'm about to go out in the lovely day.
