I feel the need to tell the universe about my migraines every day. I don't need anyone to read it or even respond. I just need to write it down for me. I could do this off line, in a diary or journal, but having it online makes it more real somehow.

I've been sharing my migraine woes with my friends in The Tea Room section of this forum, but I decided I'd rather keep my shares there more upbeat. So I'm going to try posting my thoughts here for a while. The other option is the blog site here but I haven't figured that out yet.

So, today. I have had a migraine for the past three days. I'm not status migranous because I've had at least four hours pain free each day. I'm hoping that full bed rest today will prevent it from recurring for a fourth day because then I'll have to take a course of Medrol and the insomnia and hot flashes from that are a real treat on top of the insomnia and hot flashes from menopause that I'm currently going through.

I'm in the process of tapering off one of my fibro meds so my mig specialist can try me on another preventive. So things are getting worse before they get better. I've had a migraine seven of the past eight days. Bleh. At the moment my attitude is fairly positive. But we'll see how the day goes.

Thanks for "listening."

Laura Sue -

Girlfriend - let me introduce you to the world of "blogging"!!

Why don't you start your own blog??!! That's what I did when I felt the exact same way you do.

There are plenty of great sites out there that you can set up at, blogspot, typepad....I'm sure there are more.

And trust me, they are a lot easier then the look. I thought "what am I doing!" then once I got going, met some other "migraine bloggers" (also see Teri's share post about this that she put out today) and everyone is willing to help out!!!

I use blogspot, and it's got a real easy set up....give it a try!!!!

You will really like it....and probably become addicted!!! LOL

Eileen,

Thanks for the info. What about the share post feature here? I was looking yesterday and it seems like there's a blogger there who sounds a lot like me, fibro plus migraines.

I thought that might be easier. I don't know which to do.

Well, Eileen has given me some good info on blogging, which I will definitely pursue. In the mean time, I'll post again here at least for today.

My mig came back for the fourth day so I started another course of Medrol. That makes eight out of nine days with a mig. I also had a huge fibro flare last night. In talking it over with my DH, it seems pretty certain that tapering off the Elavil is the culprit in both cases. So I tapered back up and got a good night's sleep and maybe I'm on the road back now.

The other thing DH and I discussed last night is getting a second opinion from one of the other top mig specialists in NYC. There are two, Lawrence Newman at Montifiore and Richard Lipton here in Manhattan. I'll talk to my current doc, Mark Green, about it at my follow up in early May.

That's the story for today. Thanks for listening.

Let me see if I can get you through how to start an account on the other side so you can Share post....

First let me tell you, you can use the same info you used to start your account here on the forum side, like the same name and email address, and password you used to sign up.

If you are in the forum here, and you click under "connect" and "create share post"...it will bring you to the page where you will select the topic of your share post and how you will be setting up your account...such as if you are "living with it" "interested" or "caregiver" I think are the choices.

Then you can create your share post and at the bottom, fill out the info to create your share post account. Again, you can use the same info you used to log onto the forum.

Now - you can also check this account that you have just created when you come onto the Mymigraineconnection site at the top of the screen under "My home". This is where you can edit your info, add info about yourself, pictures....etc.

Hope that starts you out, any other questions, come on back here and I will try and help you out!!!

Good Luck Big Grin

Well, thanks for your help, Eileen, but I think I'm just gonna stay right here. I know how to do this, so there's no learning curve. And I'm so sick these days that I barely have the energy to post both here and the Tea Room, much less make it to yet another site every day.

I feel so much better today though. My head hurts a little at the moment, so I don't want to jinx myself, but it is almost bedtime and no mig yet...shhhhh, don't tell the beastie. Smiler

I was really worried about this streak because we have majorly expensive, nonrefundable, nonexchangeable theater tickets tomorrow, and I really, REALLY want to go. I give up so much in order to be well enough for the occasional play on Broadway. We purposely got matinee tickets because my migs don't usually hit until afternoon or evening, so I should be able to make it to the theater before the beastie finds me. We're seeing Macbeth with Patrick Stewart.

Based on what we've heard about this production (lots of flashing lights and sudden loud noises), and on the statistical evidence of my mig diary (I get a migraine 67% of the times we go to theater, boo!), I will probably have a mig by intermission. But I'll pop my Imitrex and make it through to the end. I'm also doing the Frova airplane trip preventive protocol, taking one this morning, one tonight, one tomorrow morning and one tomorrow night. I hope that lessens the intensity, as well as keeping me migraine free til we're in our seats.

So I'm back on the Elavil 3 a day. I slept SO MUCH better last night. My fibro aches are almost gone. I'm finishing up the Medrol today. I've got the names of the other two doctors to talk to Dr. Green about in May. So we'll see.

And I haven't been out of the house in a week and a half. I finally was able to take a bath and put on clean pajamas today. I'd been wearing them for a week, 24/7. The last time that happened, I had the flu.

That's it for today. To be continued.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the show!!!

I was hoping to take DH to RENT before it closed. I've seen it, but think he would really enjoy it as well.

Just be careful with the mixing triptan deal as I'm sure you are aware. If you are going to use Frova as a preventive, if you get a migraine (I'm hoping not girl!!!) I personally would stick with Frova.

The triptan rule is don't switch triptans within a 24 hour period....

Hope you have fun at the show!!!! Thumbs Up

And glad you are feeling a bit better today! Smiler

Eileen, thanks for your concern. My mig specialist gave me special dispensation.

I MADE IT!!! No migraine today. Whoo-hoo! Broke the streak!!!

It's all about the Elavil. Who knew it really made such an incredibly ridiculous difference?! Live and learn. I just wish the price I pay for the lesson wasn't quite so high. Feh.

Good night, sweet dreams, everyone.

I feel great. Another good night's sleep and I've improved all the way from road kill through pond scum up to good imitation of human!!

No mig yesterday!!!!!!!!!

Off to theater, which means a whopping big mig later. But as my mig specialist says, you can't stop living your life, and theater is a crucial part of our life here. It's the only remaining interest and hobby that DH and I share. I can't go out to eat anymore, I can't go out to hear music, I can't watch TV, I can't travel. If we couldn't go to theater together, there would be nothing left.

Oh well, it is what it is and today I'm going to enjoy myself!

Later.

LauraSue enjoy the theater! Patrick Stewart doing Shakespeare - how wonderful! Since you could just as easily have a migraine without doing anything fun - better to do something fun, hey?

Laura Sue--

I am so jealous. I had my chance and BLEW it. DH and I were in England last September and we always go to the theater when there. We had decided to go see Lord of the Rings, so got our reservations (to see it at the end of our trip) the first night we were there. We then rented a car and took off in our 8 day trek West and then North to Hadrian's Wall (DH is major history buff and I really like British history thru the Tudors). We didn't get back to London until the night before our theater tickets. On the taxi ride to our hotel from the train in from Gatwick, we saw the theater featuring McBeth with Patrick Stewart!!!! Couldn't get tickets for that night!!!!

Argh-h-h-h.

Guess I should have read the Shakespeare plays in London a little closer when we were in the planning stages. But normally I don't like Shakespeare in London, too much experimentation with costuming and setting!

Bet it is totally stupendous!!!

Tracie, yes, it was stupendous. But I am totally jealous of your trip to England. Sounds wonderful. I've been there several times, I'm a total Anglophile and a history buff, but I can't travel anymore! Plane flights destroy me, jet lag destroys me, all of it destroys me. Thank goodness I got lots of travel in when I was younger. We did a wonderful trip to London and Stratford years ago.

So I did get a migraine but not until after the play. I was still okay at intermission!!! Yay!! The trip home in the cab was not fun, had my jacket over my head to block out the light the whole way. DH had to steal a cab from some slow-moving tourists. The cabby said "Excuse me, I was getting those people." DH said, "Well, you got us. My wife is sick and needs to get home." He's such a New Yorker. I love it.

So now I'm in bed with my ice pack and my laptop, chillin'. So far it feels like a mild one, but I can tell I'll need a second dose of Imitrex. The real key will be whether it recurs tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed, everybody!

That'll do for now. Thanks for listening.
