Good morning all - Just a quick hello (Ha! you know me - I'll get to the end and it will be 10 paragraphs). We are leaving RI soon and going to take R to look at a college in CT for the day, then drive home from there.

Yesterday was a nice day at Old Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower II. We had a long visit in the Wamponoag village (where native people are doing traditional work and explaining from a 21st century perspective) and then another long visit in the 1627 village (where historic re-enactors are playing actual people in the Plymouth colony). We had a long talk with "John Billington" without trying to explain he is Danny's ancestor (that might bring down accusations of withcraft - they are totally in character in the 17th century) and then another long talk with Miles Standish (who was interested to hear we were from "New Amsterdam" and explained very politely how the Dutch had no right to colonize on this English territory.) Anyway, it was a blast. Very chilly (45 degree) early spring weather, right down by the water so it was really cold. I had a tiny bit of migraine from all the wood smoke at the end of the day. But it cleared up when I took a nice 21st century shower and cleared the smoke out of my pores!

I'll talk to you all tomorrow!

- megs

Good morning!

Have a great trip Megs!!

I'm getting ready to take my friend to the doctor. I guess I ran out of family members Wink Seriously, her DH is deployed and she is feeling really sick so I'm driving her to the clinic. I'll be sure to wear a mask so I don't carry it over to my house!

DH got into TX at 2:00 a.m this morning. I'm sure he is sleeping soundly right about now.

Not much else going on in my world. After I get back I need to go food shopping, clean my house and finish transcribing my visit with Dr. Krusz. I can't believe how long I have put it off! I'm going back in a couple of weeks, my how time flies, huh?

Have a great day today!

Good morning! I'm checking in before I get my day started. DH is feeling puny today, but not as puny as yesterday. He started a new med, and we think that's what's causing it. I had some dizziness yesterday, so I canceled my day and wandered around at home. Back to normal today. Yesterday was a 6. Skelaxin brought it down to a 3.

Megs -- have a great trip. I couldn't get DS to look anywhere. He spent 3 years at community college, then transferred to U of Southern Miss, about 90 miles away. He'd been there 7 summers for a camp for gifted students -- 3 summers as a student, and 4 as a counselor.

We went to Boston last year and did the same historical things you did. We didn't spend as long talking to the Americans as you did. Our Native Americans weren't all that talkative. They were half nekkid, and it was cool outside. A couple of the guys in our group got through with their tour very quickly, so we didn't get to spend as much time as you did. They must have been very brave to spend 3 weeks on the Mayflower! Made me respect our ancestors much more.

Laura -- I hope you don't catch what your friend has. I've GOT to go to the grocery store!

Everyone's day is off to an interesting start. I'm working from home today. I've got a runny nose and sore throat. Figure the office doesn't need to be exposed any more than necessary and since I can work effectevely from here, I will. Plus I can work in my jammies!!

I need to get my DS motivated to look at some colleges. He looked at some with his sister, but she wanted to look at Ivy's and that is not in his game plan at all. Their dad has been the college tour guide. Though maybe since he is interested in some West Coast schools I'll look at some road trips with him. He is interested in the South for some reason. The only place he's been in the South is Little Rock and near Fayetteville, AK. I believe he thinks warm weather in the winter would be nice. Unless he's snowboarding he has no use for the cold.

Back to work. Take care everyone,

Cindy

Good Morning All--

I'm waiting on the horse vet, but will post a few lines before she gets here. Megs--sounds like your little holiday was a blast, but with my warm Texas blood I couldn't have dealt with those chilly temperatures. I live here for a reason--I hate cold weather. I'd rather be hot any day!

We had the whole of out little family for Easter--a very rare thing. The oldest son came down from Dallas and we all enjoyed the 20 month old grandson get the hang of hunting for easter eggs! It's now 2 months until the granddaughter will be born. Her poor mother is so miserable at the moment!

I finally have my energy back after the shoulder surgery. I've discovered the magic of Lidoderm patches! They keep my arm from getting so sore when I work and sleep. Haven't had to take much pain medicine at all for a week. Frankly, I've always had my doubts as to their effectiveness, but I'm now a believer!

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi everyone,

It's afternoon already! Eeker Where is the day going???

Just checking in before my son and I go out food shopping. We have part of the ingredients here to make lots of different things...but no complete recipes at all!!! Dinner will be a fabulous mess if we don't get to the grocery store!

Megs, your trip sounds like fun! Be safe and have a good college visit!

Laura, be sure to wear that mask! You sure are a good friend! Smiler

Gretchen, I hope your DH feels better soon. Glad your Skelaxin worked so well!

Cindy, sending you some cyber-chicken soup! (We really need an emoticon for soup here!! We seem to share a lot of it around here!)

Tracie, I've used those Lidoderm patches for migraine pain! They do seem to help the face and jaw pain quite a bit. But I do feel a little silly walking around with them pasted all over my face and head...Glad they are working for your shoulder! Smiler

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Me, too! I love the Lidoderm patches. My mig specialist told me to try them on my shoulders because my muscles there were hard as rocks. They help ever so slightly to prevent migraine recurrence, but help tremendously with general comfort and well-being. I also use them when my bad hip is bothering me or when my right wrist is hurting (from too much computer solitaire!!).

I'm pretty fed up today. Watched an episode of John Adams with DH last night and by the end of it, I had a migraine. One day off between. And he wants to go to theater tonight and is being grouchy about it, so I'll probably go, even though it means I'm more likely than not to get a recurrence. I feel stupid just typing that. I know I don't have to do something that will make me worse, I have choices, "No" is a complete sentence. But he takes such good care of me and is so frustrated and frightened at how sick I am, it seems like the least I can do, to make him happy and do something normal. Well, I'll see how I feel later. He's out of town Thursday to Tuesday so I'll have lots of time to rest then.

I'm also out of Imitrex and have to pay cash for some to tide me over til the next insurance refill on Saturday. This is just way sicker than I want to be. But there's not a thing I can do about it except follow the doctor's instructions and pray for menopause!

Oh, well, nice sunny day here today so at least I won't have a weather trigger on top of everything else!

Megs, Plimouth Plantation is so cool isn't it? I was able to play an antique harpsichord there when we went. Two young girls were just wide-eyed when I did. Not sure they'd ever heard Bach before! My ancestors didn't come on the Mayflower but they weren't far behind. I'm descended from John Haynes, the first governor of Connecticut.

Laura, you are such a good Samaritan to take your friend to the doctor. What would the world do without people like you? My mom was just recently helped by two people when her car broke down near the end of a long trip. They put her and all her luggage in their car and drove her the rest of the way home!

Gretchen, glad to hear you're better today. Hope DH adjusts to his meds okay.

Cindy, good for you for working from home. It used to drive me nuts when people would come to work sick and sneeze all over me. Since I stopped working I hardly ever get colds anymore. I used to get three to five a year!

Jenny, that's funny about the fabulous mess for dinner! Perhaps our theme today is grocery shopping since both you and Gretchen mentioned it.

I'll check back later since I'm spending the day in bed. (Unless we go to theater...)

LauraSue.
(I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.)

Just a quick hello. I had my HA specialist visit yesterday which I posted about in the Doctors & Clinics folder if you haven't seen it already. My migraine pain hit about a 7 last night. I'm feeling better this morning though my stomach was somewhat upset which made me late for work. *sigh* At least my boss is on vacation this week though.

Hope all are well today. Today is going to be a one minute at a time day for me, for sure. Thumbs Down

I'm here, I did not get sick. I felt pretty bad until just after dinner last night and then the sore throat and migraine went away. I swear by garlic!

Kids are back to school. Kath has already texted me that they've had three fire drills today, one an acutal fire - someone set fire to a trash can. Lovely. I hate HS. She's also having a rough time with her former best friend and is taking it hard so I have to be a therapist via the cell phone.

Dh can see the light at the end of the tunnel of this crazy working overtime. Saturday he flies in and out of Chicago for the podiatry convention and then, hopefully Fingers Crossed he's done for a while.

I promise to post my chicken soup recipe to the board as soon as the deadline is past for entries. I know no regular here would try to pass my recipe off as their own, but people can come on as guests, and who knows what crazies are out there. Then we can make chicken soup ourselves when we feel bad. If you live by a forum member, you can take some to them. Smiler

Megs, have a good trip home.

Laura, you're a good friend. I help a friend to doctor appointments after she had open heart surgery. Some day someone will return the favor.

Cindy, I hope you get to feeling better.

Jenny, I think you should make up the craziest dinner you can think of out of your bits and pieces of food!

Oh Jenny I had to laugh at your dinner delemia. My friend Joanie can make a pasta dinner out of anything. She does not like going to the store at all. Will avoid it at all costs. She would serve some rather odd combinations, but they were also good and certainly different!!

Tracie, are your horses well? I do hope so and it's just a routine visit for them. Your grandbaby sounded like so much fun for Easter. I have a few years (I hope) before I get to enjoy that.

LauraSue maybe that migraine will just disappear into thin air and you can enjoy the theatre with DH tonight. Miracles can happen and I will hope for the best.

MJ glad your boss is out this week. Great that the test was scheduled so quickly.

Deb I could use your chicken soup. I was despirate enough to buy the canned stuff. Very sad, very very sad.

I went out to the garage this morning and Piper's senior pictures had been delivered. They turned out wonderfully. It's startting to hit that she is really graduating and really going to college. She looks so pretty and grown up. The time just goes so fast.

Ok, work Cindy work. I need a whip cracking or something!!

Deb,

I made it to the store! Smiler

But without my trip, I think we might've had....

meatless hamburger helper a la mode (maybe with a side of frozen spinach). Or pickled beets. Ick. Wink

Heartjenny

ps--Now it'll be stuffed shells for dinner. And my kids will think I'm the best chef-mom in the world! (it's their favorite!)

I don't know, the a la mode part sounds pretty good to me. I'd just leave all the rest of it out. Then again, that doesn't meet my mom's rule for a well balanced meal: it has to have at least 3 colors, and junk food doesn't count.

I've got a doozy of an attack coming.

From the right side of the top of my head down to my right rib cage is already numb. A while ago I couldn't move my right hand for a couple of minutes but that went away quickly and it's just numb now.

I've taken Indocin, antivert, and valium. I have no pain at the moment but that will come before long. I've had strong visual aura for three days so this attack is not a surprise.

Oh me. The fight goes on. Thursday or Friday I'll need you all something fierce when the severe depressive dip hits me afterwards and I begin to wonder why I'm breathing this nitrogen/oxygen envelope that surrounds this third orbiting object from Sol.

Guys-

Thanks for asking about the horses. We did have one who we thought had a swollen eye but when the vet got here she was afraid he might have a concussion so it was hook up the trailer time and haul the horse to the clinic. He had a really huge swelling on the side of his head over his eye which was also nearly swollen shut. Turns out he had a gigantic abscess, which the other vet opened and drained. So now we're about $600 poorer but hopefully Onyx is going to be ok. He used to be one of my lesson horses but developed narcolepsy and we had to retire him to companion horse for the broodmare. If you saddle him but let him stand still he goes to sleep and falls down--definitely not safe. He's such a sweet guy though. The other 2 horses just needed annual shots.

My best friend just got back from Italy--so we spent the morning talking about her trip in between her riding her two horses. She, her husband, and 2 kids had a ball!

LOL
