I find it very hard to believe that I'm the one starting the thread today! I'm not even conscious til 10 or 11 am. I know the weather here is glorious so I assume most of you are out having fun!
As noted in my rant last night (see Vents folder), I've had a mig the past three days and I'm feeling pretty icky physically. But my mood has bounced back again, so that's good. DH is out playing squash. It's real popular in NYC because you don't need a huge amount of space to play it. There's a bunch of athletic clubs that have courts. He plays two or three times a week, and it's great exercise for him. He really works up a sweat. He's made quite a few friends over the years too. I spoke to my brother this morning. I haven't mentioned him or the rest of my family much, have I? I guess I'm just always so focused on my migraines I forget about everything else. That's not good. So let's fix that! I grew up in Michigan and my mom still lives there. She's 82 and going strong. My dad died 11 years ago and I still miss him. I have two siblings, brother and sister, both younger. My sister lives and works in the Wash DC area. Her daughter, Karen, is a sophomore at Stanford and is doing a semester and summer internship in Japan right now! My brother lives in Florida. He's a computer programmer, although right now he's driving a cab (long story!!!). He has a long-time girlfriend. My sister is divorced. On Andy's side, almost the same story! His mom lives in Florida full time now. She's 83 and still going strong. His dad died about six years ago. He has one sister, younger, who is divorced. Her daughter, Lexi, is a sophomore in high school. So my immediate family is quite small. Andy's extended family is also small. My extended family is big and everyone's on good terms, but not close. So we don't have lots of family events to go to, which is kinda good, since I'd be missing so many of them right now! Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) |

Good morning all. It is supposed to be unusually warm here in So. Cal. today. I think I will dust off the capri pants and sandals.
I spent the morning in bed, but because of pleasurable pursuits I will probably spend the day running errands, watering and grooming my plants, and doing some reading. I don't have a migraine this morning so I will make the best of it. I think my son has a gig this evening so the husband and I will probably go listen to his band play. Went out to a romantic Italian restaurant last night. I even tempted fate and had a glass of red wine. Came home, took a relpax (for safety's sake) and amazingly enough, didn't get a migraine from it. Woo Hoo! Laura, sorry to hear about the last three days. I can totally relate . . . went through that last week. Hope everyone else has a wonderful day. |

Well Hoops your day has certainly gotten off to a fine start!! Wish mine had. DBF is STILL on his nasty long shift work (there is a country song about that).
But I did write a very long letter to a cousin this morning and have a nice long chat with my middle sister Lori. My older sister Becky is chatting long with me these days. Like Laura, a long story. Laura I'm sorry your not doing well this morning. I'd like to send you some of my nice gentle weather today. It would brighten your spirit at least. I'm off to the yard. Good wishes a day to you all. Hi All--
Have been out in the barn with DS most of the morning. DH went to Corpus Christi to pick a "new" tractor his dad gave us. That will give us three not so new tractors. We're buying a brand new square baler probably next week (around $15,000) since surely with 3 tractors available we'll be able to keep things working long enough to get our hay cut and baled each time it's ready (can always fix whatever as soon as a baling is done). We have all the equipment but the old baler we have makes 1 bale and breaks 5 so is pretty much useless. The last 3 years I've paid for custom baling, but last year was wet, and even though it cost me over $6000 to produce my hay, they never got into the fields at the right time so it wasn't the top quality we always produce and we should have had 3 times the amount we had to sell. Really hurt the bottom line, I can tell you. Anyway, our oldest DS came down from Dallas to do the barn chores since I can't do the heavy stuff now with shoulder, etc. He likes to "git ur done" like I like to when I do it so we're getting to enjoy spending time together too. Everybody have a lovely pain-free day. Tracie |

Afternoon, ladies! I just missed the morning. DBF and I were lazy this morning and didn't get out of bed until 11. It's supposed to be beautiful here today too, sunny and 70. We're going to try to make it to the mall since I'm down to one pair of pants that sort of fits. I've lost enough weight that most of my pants don't fit, and this week at work I tore one of the two pairs that still does (sort of) fit! So I'm using that as a reason to go. Also I have some coupons that expire tomorrow.
Also, no matter what, I'm filing my darn taxes tomorrow. All my paperwork is together, I just have to file them. I should have a decent refund this year. Dar, I'm thinking of you today on the MS walk. We have it up here today, too. One of the guys in my office gets a team together every year. MS is more prevalent in the NW than in any other part of the country so it's a big deal. I'm in no shape to do a walk, but I donate every year. I know Teri's got someone at the AHDA working on a migraine walk, and when the time comes I'm ready to help out! LauraSue, you do sound to be in a much better mood. I'm glad to hear it. My family's spread out around the country like yours is - I'm here with DBF in WA, brother and SIL in southern CA; mom, sister and BIL in MA; dad and his wife in NJ. Most of DBF's family is in VA, along with a lot of our friends (that's where we went to college). Hoopsky, enjoy your lovely weather with your DH. Cindy, enjoy your yard today. Looks like a lot of us have lucked out with nice weather today, at least on the west coast! Your roses sound just beautiful. Tracie, hope your "new" tractor will be enough to get your baling done. DBF comes from the rural part of VA so he's got some farming in his blood, though not from his immediate family. I'm going to spend a bit of time here before attempting to put in my new contacts, then DBF and I will walk over to the mall. Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine? checking in with nasty postdrome. lucky me- i got to experience it all with this migraine. prodrome- emotional, weepy, aura- scotoma, severe HA pain and now the "I'm dumber than a box of bricks" postdrome.
got some new voice rec. software today- or at least, it's in the apartment leasing office. allegedly, this clears up the errors from the previous version, and it makes it usable! i can't wait to test it. my tummy is starting to adjust to the raised dose of verapamil. This is very good. Jamie Forum Moderator |

Hi guys -
It's been a beautiful day here too. Danny's got the grill fired up on the deck - we may even eat out there if the temperature doesn't drop too much. It's been low 70's, breezy, sun & clouds. Looked like it might storm for awhile but it cleared up. Last night we had some pretty powerful thunderstorms. I'm tired now from my busy day and the head's threatening just a little - so LauraSue I may have overdone it but it was worth it! Got up and cleaned kitchen while Danny made me oatmeal scones. Yum! Ms. Rachel wasn't working today for once so I took her and a friend to the mall - she and I had a lovely giggly time this morning, buying some new sheets for her bed. She has been busy, or down, or grumpy, so much lately, and/or I've been sick - it was fabulous to have some nice time with her. Then I left the girls and went off and got my hair cut. It's longer than in my little avatar picture, about chin length and kind of rounded and flippy and cute. It's been really long lately and I think really pulled my face down. I feel like I lost 5 years, 5 pounds, and gained 2 inches in height. I went to Home Depot for a few little fix-up things D and Adam will take care of tomorrow, then did some grocery shopping. It's so nice to be able to get out and about! Jamie so sorry you got slammed like that! What will you do with the voice rec. software - is that instead of typing? Great idea (don't answer if you have to type!) MJ enjoy your beautiful day and your shopping trip[. Good luck with the taxes. We filed last week Tracie and Cindy I envy your roses. Ours don't bloom til late May or early June. But the bushes have leaves on them this week, which is new! Hoopsky how nice you got to enjoy DH being back. LauraSue sorry your head is bothering you - but you do sound more chipper. Nice to hear about all the family. Well nice to see you all. I'm resting my head & body before dinner. - Megs |
