Good morning and Happy Saturday!

I got a nice early start this morning. DH cooked breakfast, which means he ran to McDonald's for the family but hey, it keeps us from eating cereal and keeps me from cooking Wink

I am still working on the dining room. The wallpaper is not coming off so we rented a steamer. It works great but it is sooo slow. Last night Raymond did part of one wall and today Paulie is helping me.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today without any aches and pains.

I'm off to tear down wallpaper!

Hugs to all...

Good Morning,
I"m here with a cat and a cup of coffee planning my day.

No DBF to cook breakfast Frowner. He is taking care of grandchildren this weekend while his daughter goes out of town. She and her SO do not leave often (really never). So he offered to watch the children and they took him up on it. I will go out later, maybe with Nala if she is up to it. There are two younger children 1.5 and 3 who are not usually around animals I'm concerned about. The 10 year boy Jonathan loves Nala and would be fine with her. In fact probably be good for her. I'll see how she does when I'm out in the yard today.

I'm going over to my ex mother in laws to help go through my ex fathe in law's closet. We lost him in January. No one has wanted to do it yet. Proabably only work on it a couple of hours. She is 82 and tires so quickly, even if just answering questions. She really prefers if everything is just taken care of by someone else. I won't go down that road. It will turn into a vent!!

I'm going to quickly balance my check book, eat and go outside and work. I did not finish my rose bed last weekend. There is just a litte bit to do. I already have roses to dead head. My yellow climber (yellow blaze) looks so pretty right now. It usually only blooms once. Somestimes I can prune it and get it to bloom a second time. Usually not though.

Take care everyone. I hope you are all feeling well today and can enjoy your weekend.

Cindy

Good Morning Everyone--

Sounds like everyone has weekend projects planned. I have to devil a couple of dozen eggs for a Kentucky Derby party we'll be going to. One of our best friends has put it on for at least 10 years and it's always so much fun. We all have to wear hats, which we usually decorate ourselves, so it's an extra hoot. I have this marvelous 1890s gown, hat, and parasol I had made years ago to use in parades with my antique buggy, and have, wonder of wonders, lost enough weight that it fits again, so I'm wearing that! Can hardly wait. I wore it to the first annual party, so will be extra fun to wear it again.

Laura--good luck on the wallpaper job--what a lot of work that is!!

Cindy--It's so good of you to help your older mother-in-law. I know from working with my mother, who's sharp as a tack, and only lacking in energy, how hard it can be. And sorting out things out after a death is truly so difficult.

Valerie--I don't have to work today, but the scheduler called around 9 last night begging for someone to work a store on Sunday so I'll be joining you working tomorrow.

The eggs await.

Tracie

Kinda quiet in here so far this morning. I woke up early with the puppy but her morning energy is finally "petering" out. I will jump in the shower while she is napping and before round two!

My head was hurting when I got up but it's better now that I've been up a while. It always hurts when I get up. Perhaps that's why I hate getting out of bed. It's hard to get moving when your head hurts.

I have to do some housework today. The house is a mess. Vacuuming, dusting, washing the floors are all on my agenda today Thumbs Down I also need to do laundry. No wonder I feel like going back to bed. Zzzz'z

Laura, I think you're amazing for taking on the wallpaper project. I need to paint but can't seem to get the energy to actually start it.

Cindy, good luck with your mother-in-law. My father has been gone 8 years and I still can't get my mother to go through all his things. She has gotten rid of a few items but there's loads left.
I also need to trim up my rose bushes. I have 8 of them and they have lots of dying blooms that need cleaning up.

Valerie, sorry you have to work today. Hope it's a pleasant as work can be! Make a point to enjoy your evening.

Tracie, deviled eggs? I thought the derby was about mint juleps! Big Wink Have fun at your party.

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Happy weekend everybody!

I actually made it out to theater last night. First time I've left the house since last Saturday. It was a very weird but interesting play, an adaptation of the first part of William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury. Those of you who know the book know that that section is from the point of view of Benjy, who is mentally disabled, an "idiot" as they called them then. It's all jumbled together stream of consciousness and the play was not entirely successful but was very well done and a very interesting theatrical experience. But LONG!!! Two and a half hours!

So yeah, of course I got a mig, but not until intermission!

Today is cool and damp again, DH has already been out to play squash and have lunch at his club. Now he's home and ready to settle in for the rest of the day to watch TV and get caught up on his newspapers and magazines.

We're probably having spaghetti and clam sauce for dinner. It's one of his specialties. He made it for me on our first date! He's a great cook in additional to being a real sweetie. How'd I get so lucky?!

Take care everyone!

Morning all. It's still morning here for a little while, anyway. We woke up to DBF's clock blinking - our power had gone out for some unknown reason. Confused DBF did "cook" me breakfast today, but it was just some oatmeal with cinnamon and applesauce, so nothing too complicated. Wink

I don't have much on the agenda today other than a pedicure at 2. I'm going to a wedding in VA in a couple of weeks, so the pedicure is a necessity! The place I go is only a few blocks from my apartment, so I can just walk over there. I'm trying to take it easy on myself after a really rough week. So far I'm feeling ok, but I've only been out of bed almost 2 hours now.

Madcat keeps trying to sit on my laptop, which is making it difficult to type. Wink He's a cutie though so I let him get away with it.

I'm still having a lot of trouble getting to sleep, but I ordered some melatonin last night, so hopefully I'll be getting it in the mail soon.

Laura, good luck with your wallpaper removal.

Cindy, hope you can get through your day with your MIL!

Valerie, I'm sending you some virtual ear plugs in case it gets too noisy at work.

Tracie, enjoy your Derby party! My only experience with the Derby is drinking a mint julep on my way through KY on a cross-country trip a few years ago.

Hoopsky, my apartment is a mess, too. If I find the cleaning fairy I'll send her your way!

LauraSue, glad to hear you made it out to theatre last night, even if you ended up with a migraine.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday! Heart

Hello, fabulous forum buddies! Smiler

I can't believe it's already three o' crocodile already! Where is my Saturday going?

It's beautiful outside. Blue sky and everything. Sunshine! I decided to watch my other two rented movies to have an excuse to take them back and get outside. Then I stopped by the store to get Fritos, beans, and cheese for our chili, and to Taco Bell for lunch. I thought the drive-thru would be faster, so I zipped through, only to have to go inside. Hardshells with extra cheese, enunciated carefully twice over, apparently meant "no cheese" to the kid who took the order. So they had to redo them.

I watched Sweeney Todd yesterday. It was a little campier than I thought it would be, but I did like it. There aren't many Tim Burton movies I don't care for, beyond the odd version of Planet of the Apes, which could've been so much more. Today was essentially "creature feature day". I started with Cloverfield, which I did like once the creatures came into the picture, and then watched The Mist, which I was very impressed with.

That's about it, so far. Now it's forum time! Hooray!

Hi gang - late afternoon already. No tea for me - I'm drinking seltzer because I'm hot & sweaty.

Guess what I've been doing for the last 2 1/2 hours? I got out in the garden! I got out in the garden! Yes Hooray, hooray - I feel like I should post it in the success stories folder! So far this spring I have been fatigued, migraining, in a course, entertaining guests, or it's been raining. I feel so satisfied! It's kind of gray and chilly today out but that made it easier to do hard work.

Cruise night was great fun last night, though it was damp and chilly - lots of walking and visiting with folks and good food. Music only so-so but that's okay. They were trying hard! And all winding down by about 8 so we came on home & watched a movie - about my speed! Then I slept in til 8:45 this morning. Woo hoo!

MJ -
quote:

that's the best I've heard for a while! Ok is a big step in the right direction. Thumbs Up

LauraSue I want some of that spaghetti & clam sauce! Can I come over? Wink Glad you got out to the play - ambitious of them to try that piece of Faulkner!

Hoops good luck with the housework. Don't overdo it! (As somebody told me, the dirt will still be there tomorrow!) I hope your head's better. Fingers Crossed

Tracie the Derby party sounds like great fun, especially your costume - enjoy! Big Grin

Valerie sorry you have to work. Frowner I hope they keep the noise down - as my Mom always says - to a dull roar.

Cindy good luck helping your MIL - that is a hard task to get through. It's very good of you. Halo I hope you get some rest too, and to enjoy the weekend.

Laura I hope you get some satisfaction from the wall-paper stripping - as you get each piece off, "Ha-Ha - take that you!" Big Wink That's how I was digging up dandelion roots today.

We are taking Adam out to see Iron Man tonight. I'm a little worried because super-hero action movies aren't always the best for my head - maybe I'll go with ear-plugs and sunglasses to reduce the impact. But it will be nice to take him out - we have been very home-bound lately. Rachel is at work tonight - I get to take her shoe-shopping tomorrow.

Long enough? Hope you all feel well/better, etc.

Hi Droolie - I missed your scaly self there! I guess big tough dragons aren't scared of scary movies! I'm afraid to try Cloverfield, for sure, though I do love Tim Burton.

Happy Saturday!

The only real gripe I had with Cloverfield was that it took a good twenty minutes for disaster to finally strike. The party scene at the beginning was too long.

Essentially, the movie's just a modernized Godzilla flick. Having grown up watching cheesy monster flicks on the Saturday afternoon "Creature Features", it was right up my alley. One caveat, for those that don't know, is that it's filmed in a constantly jerky manner, since the premise is that it's being filmed live on a portable video camera, much like The Blair Witch Project. I know some people got queasy in the movie theaters watching Cloverfield. Supposedly, it's not as bad on a smaller home screen, but it never bothers me either way, so I wouldn't know. I thought it was fun.

Afternoon Everyone,

We (Zach, Bill and I) were off first thing this morning working on the set for the music man. I, not having the construction experience, just ran around getting everyone lunch. This play is keeping us pretty busy. My girlfriend and I are organizing all the parents and job duties and Bill is helping build the sets when he can. It's means alot to Zach, so it is all worth it.

This week has been crazy with the play and Amber and Zach have been sick. They are finally on the mend...YEAH!!! We did get some bad news that my Brother-in-law's bladder cancer is back. He goes back to in for surgery next week so they can scrape the new masses out, then I think he will have to go through chemo again. He is really down in-the-dumps over this. I am going out later to find him a funny card to cheer him up a little. It's just stinks.

Other then that not much else is going on. Bill had to go back to a construction job he is working on because someone decided to break-in Mad Don't they know he only has two days to spend with us. He has been pretty busy with the fire station and this job that we haven't seen each other for a couple weeks. I think it is time for me to plan a vacation Big Grin even if it is a couple days. Yep, that's it!!!!

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good today!!

Droolie-My daughter Nicole LOVES Tim Burton. She's a real movie buff. She watches all types...Believe it or not, she loves watching off titles and independant movies and reading about Charlie Chaplin
and Clara Bow. She would have envyed your afternoon Wink

Megs-Glad you had fun last night. It sound great. I love when the evening ends at 8:00 LOL. That's my speed too!!

MJ-Pedicure is an absolute necessity!! Enjoy and make them massage your feet extra long. Hope you are still feeling good Fingers Crossed

LauraSue-I love William Faulkner, but I don't remember that book. But, geez, I haven't had time to read since children LOL That does sound like a long play. But so glad you got to go.

Hoopsky-Yes, looking at your day, I say back to bed LOL. I would send the silly laundry fairy, but Cindy think she took off with the vacuuming elf. Have a great day anyways Big Grin

Tracie-The Kentucky Durby sounds soooo much fun. I love the hat and costume thing. And a buggy too. Geez, you are going to have a great time. Enjoy!!

Valerie-Sorry you have to work. Hopefully it will fly by!!

Cindy-You are so sweet to help your ex-mother in law. That is going to be hard no matter how much time has past. I will be thinking of you.

Laura-I hate stripping wall-paper. It reminds me of when I start hard house projects. I always think I can do this, no problem. When it gets really hard, I start whinning and complaining how hard it is then ask Bill to help. If he offers, I work with him for just a little bit. Then I slowly leave and he finishes it LOL. Works everytime Wink Okay, your way is better and more fair. Hope the wallpaper starts working with ya!!

Have a great Saturday Night everyone

Mmm, pedicure. This place I go to opened just over a year ago and they are wonderful. My feet are now ready for summer shoes and my toes are a cute sparkly pink. (My high school self, who hated the color pink, is groaning right now.)

I'm actually still feeling pretty ok. Taking a half day from work yesterday and napping on the couch definitely helped, as did sleeping in a little this morning. And not doing a single thing today other than my pedicure!

DBF and I are working on hanging some curtains in our bedroom over the weekend though. My mom sewed them for me when I was home in March, and we haven't gotten them up yet, mostly because DBF is creating the curtain rod out of lengths of copper plumbing pipe. We did the same thing in the living room and it looks really nice. I'm hoping we can finally get the bedroom drapes up though - I'll be happy to see them up! And then I'm sure I'll want to paint the bedroom. I've had plans to paint it blue since we moved in, but it hasn't happened yet.

Megs, so glad to hear you got to garden! That's definitely a success story. Thumbs Up

Droolie, I'm also a fan of Tim Burton and I've been wanting to see Sweeney Todd - I think I'm going to have to add that to our Netflix. Sounds like you had a good evening last night.

Dar, sorry to hear about your BIL's cancer. That does stink. Hopefully this round of surgery/chemo will be more successful. Group Hug

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone - I'm hoping to get out to do a little bit of shopping tomorrow.

Good evening.

We had a busy day. Dh, Nikoli and I went to see Iron Man - very good if you're into scifi stuff. Nikoli has grown to appreciate our love of scifi but, alas, Kath has not. She stayed home.

When we got home, Kath took me grocery shopping, and then I did laundry. While we were gone, dh and Nikoli emptied his room of toys.

He's been lying again, not only to us, but his teacher, about missing homework.

The deal is, if he didn't turn in something, he loses the Wii for the day. So, in order not to lose the Wii, he's been hiding his missing homework, not turning his behavior folder into his teacher so she can't mark what's missing and put it in the folder. She emailed me Thursday saying he was missing several things, and he told her one of the missing homework assignments the dog ripped up! The oldest excuse in the book!

He was warned that if he did this again, he would lose his toys. He now has to earn them back.

Dh cooked tonight - deer steaks. Not bad as long as you load them up with gravy. We have them just a few times a year because they are so bad for you!

Then dh and I went to the mall just to get away for a while. It was nice.

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good day.
