Good Morning,

Well I opened CNN.com and the headlines were storms ripping through Texas. So any of you out there, would you let us know you are ok? I hope they are making more of it than it is Hair Raising but I don't think so.

I see my therapist this morning. I had to cancel 2 weeks ago since I was so sick. I so look forward to seeing her. Than I have a professional association meeting tonight after work for education. I haven't been to one of those in many years. I really haven't felt like it.

Oh and I think I got rid of the "cold" it's called use an antihistimine at night. I feel great this morning. I was having problems with seasonal allergies before the cold started. And stuff is still blooming it's head off. The liliacs are beautiful, but I'm allergic to them. So I thought I wouldn't be now??? This would be a good time to insert a blond joke (and my son would).

Meg you are just so full of energy this week. I can hear in your writing the energy. It's wonderful. You must be enjoying yourself.

Dar and Tashwa are you doing better today? Where is that magic wand I've been looking for???

Gotta get moving. Take care everyone.

Cindy

Hi Cindy- I live in the Dallas area, and the storms last night were some of the worst I've seen around here in a while. My head doesn't feel too great either! Roll EyesI hope every one else that lives in the area doesn't get a migraine- I know for a lot of us, the weather can be a trigger. Thanks for asking!

Good morning.

I live in the Dallas area, too. Man, those storms were something else. Power is out in several areas. We managed to make it through OK.

I have a slight headahce today. Storms usually cause me to have a migraine. I think my preventative medications are actually working, go figure.

Valerie, I'm sorry you're not feeling well today. I hope you are able to take some medicines to get to feeling better.

Good morning, Cindy and Valerie!

I'm here BEFORE our walks. DH skipped our coffee time this morning, so I was able to start the day earlier. Most days, he doesn't go in until about 9, and stays until 7 (or later. It was after 8 last night.) But he's maybe got a big deal presentation out of town Tuesday, so he went in early. Usually, I make the coffee and bring him a cup, and we sit on the bed and listen to NPR and talk. It's a wonderful way to start the morning.

Valerie -- I'm SO glad you made it through the storms. It's headed our way and will be here this afternoon and tonight. We had a lot of damage last Friday: the storms produced 5 tornadoes. 57 homes destroyed in the metro area, all from huge trees -- like 100-year-old oaks -- falling through the home. Some are so unstable that the owners can't even go inside to get clothes and stuff.

So everybody's pretty nervous about this next round. I'm sure the weather guys on all three stations will go wall-to-wall when it starts raining.

I haven't been waking up with head pain the last few days. Perhaps it's the verapamil. That's what it's supposed to do.

One of DH's uncles is having a 50th wedding anniversary (actually, the kids are throwing the party). It'll be about 3 hours away. We're planning on staying at our usual hotel. But we won't be able to go if DH has his deal in Atlanta next week. They're trying to get the other side to reschedule, but we'll see. I haven't made reservations yet, but it's usually not a problem.

I'm so in awe of y'all who home school. There's no way we could have done it with DS. He needed the structure and socialization that school provided. And he'd been in daycare since he was 3 months old, so he was used to being with other kids. We'd have driven each other nuts.

Cindy -- glad you made it through the dentist! My dad is like you. He hates getting the novacaine, and almost would prefer the pain of the drill.

Thanks for all the encouragement on my weight loss. Every pound is a fight, but I love the way I'm looking and feeling.

Gretchen in Mississippi

Have a happy day! I'll check in later.

Hi all!

Sorry to hear about the Texas weather!! We are finally getting some nice weather up here in NJ!!! We will hit 70 today! Yippee!!! Megs and I are thrilled!!! LOL

I think my flowers that bloomed last week may actually open today! That would be wonderful! They bloomed, opened for a day, then closed back up and stayed that way.

That's about it for me. I think I seriously need to have a talk with my neuro about the amitriptyline and what it's doing to my sweet tooth. I went to the store last night, by myself (DH should not have let me done that!) I came home with ice cream, chocolate covered almonds, sour patch kids, twix bars, cookies, I think that's it - yeah but seriously - I never buy that much junk!!!! It was like I just couldn't stop myself - even if I tried!!!!

I have to stop this - my pants are going to stop fitting soon!!!! Hair Raising

I haven't been here in a while. I was in Nebraska, taking care of my mother after she had knee replacement surgery. One week turned into two and a half weeks because she had some unexpected irregular heart rhythms and I didn't want to leave until I felt that was under control.

I'm so sorry about the weather. I lived in Texas over 20 years ago and I remember the crazy weather there. I know how frustrating it is because you can't control the pain it causes. When I was in Nebraska, they had 3 major storms blow through. Ugh! My head was killing me. All we can do is control the things within our control and hope for the best when it comes to everything else.

My husband comes home from Dubai tonight. I haven't seen him in almost three weeks and I feel like a high school girl, anxious to see her "boyfriend." This is the longest we've been apart in 22 years. My logical side is saying "You're too old to feel this" but my heart is saying "I can't wait!" It's funny.

I got my laundry done and nails done yesterday so today I think I'll do some writing. I haven't done that for almost three weeks and I'm going through withdrawal Eeker

Take care everyone.

Hi all -

Yes Eileen it is a gorgeous day here in NJ! Warm, breezy, perfect spring weather with everything blooming. I had a couple of meetings in downtown Princeton this morning and took a couple of pictures of the Bradford pears lining one of the main streets - gorgeous. And stinky - achoo! I wanted to put the photos in my post but don't know how to size them down. If anyone can tell me how I'll do it later. Gretchen I was thinking of you as I walked along Witherspoon St - you had those pears blooming in Miss. like a month ago, right?

Cindy yes I've been having a better week in terms of energy and it's very nice. I had a good day today, too, between the lovely weather and some very positive business meetings. Then I got some pretty worrisome news about a family member - really can't say more in a public forum. But my stress index is creeping back up. I will say we are dealing with a lot of hard stuff right now. We are getting lots of help with it and I am confident we'll come out okay in the end. But the pile of major stressors is way high around here. Hard to keep on trucking at times. And I know migraines aren't emotionally caused but my stress sure effects them. Sigh. At least The Office is back on tonight and I'll get some good laughs!

I'm also hoping everybody's safe in Texas. Valerie and Heather glad you came out okay. And that's such good news about preventives working! Hoopsky so glad to see you around! That's sweet to miss your DH like that! Enjoy it.

Hey everyone. I'm checking in here during lunch for a change. Work has been crazy lately, and I've been running all over during lunch, but I had some time today so here I am.

I'm not feeling great today. My pain level isn't too bad, but the dizziness and nausea are getting me down. I also got my period this morning so I'm feeling crampy. Blech. Plus, I realized this morning when I went to take my meds that I never took my meds last night - I thought I was getting over the worst of the memory issues from the Topamax, but now it's making me forget to even take my meds (including the Topa). Hair Raising So I put my pill case on my nightstand so I won't forget again tonight. Normally it lives in my walk-in closet on top of my dresser with all of my meds.

Cindy, hope your appt with your therapist goes well.

Valerie, glad to hear you made it through the storms ok, even if your head isn't doing so hot.

Heather, good to hear that your preventives seem to be doing their job and that you also made it through the storms ok.

Gretchen, I've been thinking of you with news of all the storms and flooding in MS. Are you flooding at all?

Eileen, I know what you mean about the sweets craving. I have that with nortriptyline as soon as I get to the 50 mg dose. And I can't tolerate it for that reason, especially since sugar and all artificial sweeteners are big triggers for me. I can't eat the artificial sweeteners at all, and have to severely limit my intake of sugar. Luckily at the 40 mg dose (where I am now) the cravings aren't so bad, and the Topa has completely gotten rid of them.

Hoopsky, good to see you back here. Enjoy your evening with DH. Nothing wrong with missing him while he's gone. Wink

Megs, hope everything turns out ok with your family issues. We're always here for you, don't forget that! Group Hug

I'm going to go attempt to eat something. Between the total lack of appetite from the Topa and my chronic nausea it's been a struggle for me to eat anything. And if I skip meals that means my migraine gets much worse. (I had that problem yesterday.) DBF made me some nice quinoa and beans (like rice and beans, but with red quinoa instead of rice) so I brought that for lunch today. Actually I brought it for lunch *yesterday* but didn't eat it.

Hope all are well - it's Thursday, so Eileen, I brought some early-weekend cake! Birthday Cake

Wow, what a beautiful day here! And I actually was out of the house to enjoy it. It's sunny and warm, 70's, everything's blooming, including those sneeze-inducing Bradford pears! Flower

I did get a mig last night, as expected. And it will probably come back today because I had to go out for a medical appt. But nothing scheduled tomorrow, so I should be able to stay in bed and limit it to two days.

No more news I can think of, so have a nice evening everyone and I'll see you tomorrow. Ooo, yeah, 1 month 3 weeks on the ticker!!!

Take care! Smiler

Good Afternoon All--

I had to work today so am checking in late. The weather went north of us, we only had some hard rain beginning at 3a.m.

Valerie and Heather--I'm so glad ya'll are all right. Valerie, hope the migraine didn't get absolutely horrible, and Heather good that the preventatives are working. If you did well in THAT weather--yee-hah!

My steroid burst kicked in and I've done great plus have lots of energy today!!! My chief tech was fussing at me this afternoon, telling me I wasn't getting the waiting Rxes done fast enough and picking up the phone quickly enough. Guess she thought I'm a real greeny! I turned around and pointed out that if my techs weren't so busy texting on their cells maybe WE could probably get more work done more efficiently!

Eileen--I hated Amitriptylene!!! I gained over 30 pounds on that dumb drug! I couldn't lose anything while I was on it either. Since I've been on Topamax I've lose my 30 pounds plus the extra 10 that I had already put on.

Hang on Gretchen!!!! I pray the worst of the weather misses you!
It's gorgeous here now, over 80 degrees--sunny and lots of wildflowers!

See everybody tomorrow.

i just got my box in the mail from amazon! lots of copies of teri's books... and other surprises that i don't remember what I ordered. Will chop into the box after dinner.

My verapamil was increased tues, and boy am I feeling more sluggish. However, this also could be from the overdoing it on tuesday and having to take yesterday off due to medical necessity.

had nerve blocks done tues, and that was nice.

I "found" frova in my backpack earlier today- had forgotten about it being there, and when I went to get something else, a half- full box popped up. WooHOO!

That's my day.

Glad no one had serious struggles with the weather!
