Wow, I don't think I've ever started a Tea Room before. I am drinking coffee after a very stressful day and night yesterday.

We've been having rain, tons of it. About 100 miles south of St. Louis they got almost 12 inches of rain. In Wayne Co., about 120 miles south of St. Louis they had to evacuate a town, the town's main water line broke and the town ran out of water. Dh's mom and dad have a farm in Wayne Co., and I can't get them on the phone, the circuits are busy; been busy since last night. Mom has a cell phone so I'm sure if there was trouble she'd use it.

So, up here it's not so bad, but bad enough. Our bedroom is a converted attached garage and our brick wall is the chimney. It was leaking yesterday, water running down the wall. Dh has tarred that spot so many times but it just keeps leaking. Water was overflowing the gutters and falling into our family room from the top of the door. Water was pouring into the basement, down the walls and in the window, all over my dryer. We had to move the dryer out away from the wall and dry it off and wait to use it. It was ok. And the dog never went out to go. Dh had to force him out to the kennel and leave him in the rain for a 1/2 hour so he wouldn't go in the house.....again.

So I was really frustrated by the rain; it's spring break and we couldn't get out. Roads around here are water covered, in Valley Park just about 15 miles from here they are closing the flood gates on the Meremac. Dh worked in Valley Park for 8 years and they never closed the flood gates while he was out there.

But the final insult to all the injuries - we lost power last night! About 11:50 pm. So I stumble around to get a flashlight (we have a wide selection), turned off the computer power supply, lit candles, dh hooked his cpap up to some doohickey that runs on a car battery and I called the power company, who I have on speed dial on my cell phone. Wanna guess how much we lose power?

They said crews were on their way and would have power restored by 2:30. I figured it would be earlier, they always over estimate and the power did come back on at 1 am. So I have to turn everything off that was on, blow out candles and I got to bed and 1:20 and couldn't sleep! I was awake till 3am.

Coffee is my friend today. I've got some running around to do, I hope I can get a nap in.

I nailed the chicken soup last night - the difference between brown rice and white and wild rice was amazing. I'm ready to write it down and send it in. I must be crazy!

I hope everyone has a better day than I have had.

Hey Deb, I am having coffee in the rain with ya!!

First day of Spring Break and it's raining outside, poor kids.
Good day to get them to clean their rooms, maybe!

So, I hope everybody is feeling well, and extra well wishes out to you guys that are down today.

Going to try to get some cleaning done for the Holiday weekend and maybe get out to see a Bunny about some baskets if you catch my meaning.. always shopping!

Have a good day and stay pain free!

Good morning, Deb and Lori and whoever else straggles in here! Big Grin

Deb, that rain sounds unbelievable. And a power outage too. What a mess. I used to know someone whose philosophy of life was, "Caffeine is our friend!" Good luck with everything.

Lori, yep, raining here in NYC, too. Gave me my migraine yesterday. Oh well, the daffodils need it, right?

I made up new lyrics to a song from West Side Story this morning. I'll post it in Jokes, but the first line is "I feel wretched, oh so wretched..." Big Grin

Canceled my shrink so I can stay in bed and hopefully prevent a recurrence of the beastie. Hey, that would make a good title for a horror movie, wouldn't it -- "The Recurrence of The Beastie!" I'm just full of jokes this morning.

Seriously, my migraine hangover is pretty bad, but I did want to pop in and say hi. Now it's time for a nap.

Zzzz'z

Hang in there, everyone!

Good morning!

Deb what a mess! Having water pour down your wall must have been really nerve-wracking! I sure hope it's over for you! Good on you nailing that chicken soup recipe - i wish I could have some about now...

Lori I guess you're having the same rain as me. It poured here overnight and this morning too. Hope your kids have some rainy day fun and you feel okay.

LauraSue I'm sorry you're feeling so wretched! Can't wait to go over and read the song - I'll probably be humming it all day. i wrote a blues song - Got them Ole Migraine Blues Again, Mama - which is up on my blog. I need a composer to do the tune, though.

Woke up migraining this morning. Sinus infection is letting up a little, but I think between the pressure of that and the crying I did yesterday, the mig was inevitable - that and heavy rainstorm probably.

The good news is - we had some good talks with the kids about getting up in the morning and they were much more cooperative today, and Danny cooled out and was cheerful. He stayed home from his Weds a.m. business meeting so I could take the Imitrex and go right back to bed. I just ate some toast since it makes me nauseous on an empty stomach. Then went back to sleep for about 3 hours and the migraine seems to be mostly gone. Yay! Still a little queasy in the tummy, and spacey in the head.

Haven't decided yet about going out to the course I'm observing this afternoon. I hate to miss it, because I may be leading it myself next month, but I still feel like I've been pushed through a strainer. We'll see.

Hope the rest of you are well.

- megs

Good Morning everyone,

Deb-What a mess!! All that rain, then a power outage. No wonder you could not sleep. I hope DH mom and Dad are okay, let us know when you get a hold of them. I think that is great that you are ready to send in the chicken soup recipe. How exciting Thumbs Up

Lori-Have fun shopping today!! Tell that bunny I will see him tomorrow Wink

LauraSue-Can't wait to read the words to your song. You are too funny!!

Megs-Glad that your morning was calm and cooperative!! Hope your migraine stays away!!

As for me, I am going to make this short. Auras and vertigo acting up this morning and making it hard to type and read. Will check in latter.

Good afternoon everyone!

I'm late getting over to the Tea Room so, mine is water. I'm feeling a bit shaky and jumpy today. I have no idea why, but I put my Coke down and moved over to water. We are getting ready to have storms roll through our area so maybe that's it?

My DD is fine. Thanks for all the support everyone, I greatly appreciate it. I was pretty worried about her. It turns out she has a mild concussion but she is doing perfectly fine as long as she takes her Motrin. Thumbs Up

Deb-My goodness! You had a rough one! Is it still raining? I hope you got your much needed nap!

Lori-Hope your shopping went well Wink

LauraSue-I hope you're feeling better-I'll be looking for the lyrics, I'm already giggling

Megs- Group Hug feel better my dear! I love having "family meetings" it helps to let everyone say what they want without fear of getting in trouble. Glad Danny is cheeful today.

Dar-Please get some rest and keep the beast away! Devil

Well, I made it back home safely. Our flight back from Boston last night was on time and uneventful. Our cat was frantic when we got home and seems to be mostly ok, though one of his eyes seems a little gunkier than usual. We'll have to keep an eye on that.

I'm dragging at work this morning. I'm worried the Frova I took for my plane trips this weekend may result in some MOH issues later this week. Not much I can do about it now though.

Just wanted to check in and say hi - I'll be back in later. Hope everyone's doing ok today. Heart

Hi everyone,

Didn't make it here in the AM...my little one had an Easter party. Then the dog needed to go to the vet for her shots.

My goodness, Deb! I'm sorry to hear about all of the rain! I sure hope things dry out quickly...It seems like your rain has headed directly over to my house! The news stations are all showing people bracing for floods. I'm fortunate to live on a pretty big hill (away from the creeks and streams). We did lose a piece of siding from the side of our house--but DH will be able to repair that once the weather breaks.

Lori, I met with the bunny last night. Dh took the kids to another store and I showed the bunny everything they wanted most for their baskets. We also had the tooth fairy come last night (older son got one pulled). Busy time at our house...

LauraSue, your song cracked me up. Big Grin My DH likes to sing that song with different words, too. But instead of "pretty," he replaces it with a word that rhymes with "pretty"...one that is not family friendly. (Give you a hint...it means "crummy.")

Megs, I'm glad you had a chance to talk with the family. Sometimes just getting your feelings out into the open really helps. Smiler Feel better soon!

Dar, hope your migraine stops with aura and vertigo...

Laura, I'm glad to hear that your DD is going to be OK. I sure hope your jumpy feeling goes away soon...that's not much fun at all.

MJ, glad you got home safely! No use in worrying about the Frova...Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

I'm still doing well--so far the nerve block has helped for 12 days! (Longer than ever before! Cool) I've had some "silent migraines" with aura, nausea, and vomiting--but no pain. Phenergan seems to help with those and I haven't even needed my Imitrex or Maxalt.

Stay dry everyone!

I feel spiffy right now as long as I ignore the spasmy tendon in my left middle finger and the mig med washout sludge. Big Grin

Hope those of you that weren't feeling so great earlier are much better now, and that those that were in great shape are in even better shape tonight.
