I'm cautiously optimistic about this new year. I mean, I think this is the year it all starts to come together for me- Depression is in remission, 2 weeks from knowing what's going on with the Verapamil, and I have wonderful friends and family offline

And I have the most wonderful forum family out there- I'm truly lucky. Happy New Year to my Migraine Family. May it be healthy and happy for all!

Optimistic--that's a good word. I'm going to work toward migraine optimism.

I'm the devil's original advocate, I'm afraid.

Here's to a brighter outlook for 2008! *quaffs nice spring water*

I love that word--"quaff" Thumbs Up

Happy New Year!

Now that it is officially 2008 on this coast, I'll post my hello!

I don't usually do new years resolutions. I would like to try to remain optimistic about my treatment regimen, though, which has been difficult for me in 2007. I have a good feeling about finding something (hopefully soon) that works for me to get my head under better control.

I am so very thankful for this forum family. I feel like I can't say that enough. All my best to everyone here! Like MW said - here's to a brighter outlook for all of us! Heart

I am stuck here at work this morning doing inventory...And fighting off a headache at that. I didn't drink last night, or party at all, but I only slept 4 hours between Sunday and Monday (had to be up early to work Mon too!) and then I came home and slept for a few more hours. I've only slept another 6 hours or so and this sleep pattern is a definite migraine trigger for me, so I am praying the headache doesn't mutate into a migraine, not on inventory day!

I am definitely praying to the coffee gods today...!

Happy New Years to everyone here, I'm thinking of you and hoping for a better year for all of us!

Back from a short abscence (darn fibro).

We had a nice New Year's Eve - that's our night to eat seafood; shrimp, scallops and king crab legs! Yum! Dh makes a shrimp scampi alfredo that's to die for.

We watched The Bourne Ultimatum. Good movie. We played the Wii (I kicked dh's butt in bowling!)

Nikoli made it to midnight but Kath didn't. She was really in a foul mood all day and I suspect it was because she didn't go anywhere for the first time in five years. I threatened to take away her MP3 player and dh threatened to send her to bed at six if she didn't straighten up.

I haven't been up long enough to comment on New Year's Day 2008. Maybe later.

Happy New Year everyone!! Group Hug Heart Group Hug

Sorry you have to work, Leeloo! DH is working from home today. And keeping one eye on the Penguins hockey game. The Pens are playing something called The Winter Classic today--it's a game against the Buffalo Sabres and they're playing on an outdoor rink!! DH is a HUGE hockey fan! You'd think it was Christmas all over again, he's so thrilled with this game!

Droolie, you're right--this break did fly by! I'm not looking forward to waking the kids for school tomorrow. (Or to waking my sorry self at 6AM again!!!)

Deb, we love the Wii at our house, too! My kids like monster trucks and Mario Party best. DH is a fan of Zelda. (I mostly just watch. The trucks make me really dizzy!) By the way, your dinner sounded FABULOUS! My youngest son has been sick with strep throat, so we haven't left the house in about a week. Maybe I'll get to the grocery store tomorrow and make us a seafood extravaganza!!! (Yum)

Let's all make 2008 the healthiest year yet!!! Fingers Crossed

I haven't gotten anything done today, despite having been up since my usual time of 6:00 A.M. I am determined to get the kitchen cleaned up from its recent flooding before the end of the day!

Wishing everyone a great day and a great 2008.

Happy New Year!

Last night was quite eventful for us. I went to my first party in 6 months! We planned to keep reasonable expectations and stay only for a couple hrs, but stayed until midnight! Big Grin The snow we got attempted to deter us! (Weatherman predicted only 1-3 inches but by this morning we got at least 8-9) We were actually shocked. We had no clue there was that much snow out on the roads til we left. Our street is usually the last one plowed so we assumed the others were (cause we thought there was only 1-2 inches out there), but we were wrong. It was quite the adventure. Eeker Thank goodness my DH is a good driver in snow/ice! But I was so happy. I've not been able to go out to a party like that in so long! Being with my friends was such a joy. Smiler I've really missed them.

Wishing everyone a pain decreased/free New Year's Day!

I slept in this morning since it is a holiday for our office (DBF and I work at the same company). DBF made his delicious gluten-free pancakes with dark chocolate chips! They do slightly break my diet (chocolate = sugar), but they are delicious. And hard to say no to yummy pancakes!

Our new year's eve was very low-key. We put on our pjs after we got back from Target. (Side bar: I bought a few new pairs of sunglasses, one for shopping and one for night, that seem to help my head quite a bit.) We watched some tv and I started learning how to knit.

Today will probably also be very low-key. DBF and I are planning on going for a walk later, since it looks to be a nice (dry) day. I'm also going to work on some more knitting.

Wishing everyone here a great new year, and hoping for many successes for all of us! Fingers Crossed Heart

To the Wii crew here so far:

Deb- It's amazing how I manage to get the same number of gutterballs on the Wii sports package as I do when I go bowling in real life. I suppose that really shows that i am a bad bowler, eh? It's my stroke, and I can't blame it on "the heavy ball"

Jenny- I have Zelda also, and one of the Mario games- the space one. I can't seem to figure out Zelda. Embarrassed I'm still stuck near the beginning. Have you seen the "Big Brain Academy" game? It's perfect for kids- educational puzzles, etc. (My mom was misled into buying it, thinking it was for adults.) If there were an adult version, I'd be all over that- the kids' version is so good.

Y'all are making me want to play... Perhaps later, I will.

Hi Jamie!

DH got Zelda for Christmas...he's still at the beginning, too. Our cousin has gotten VERY far, but he's a real Wii junkie. I'm gonna have to look at Big Brain Academy. Sounds like my kids would love it!

Mario Party is lots of fun for the kids (and for me too, I must confess!!). Lots of different "minigames." Some are tricky but the kids get a kick out of them. Plus, they love to play with me because I am perhaps the world's most uncoordinated video game player ever! (It's always fun for them to see that they can beat Mom!)

The kids just discovered Wii Sports this week. They are both pretty good at golf and tennis! (Especially the little one--he's even started watching golf on TV!)

Happy New Year everyone - Great to hear how it's going for all of you! I'm very excited about the New year. DH is working on getting a new job and I have a lot of new pieces to add to my business so this is going to be get out of the hole year for us - not a moment too soon. I know stress isn't technically a trigger, but I sure get a lot of migraines when I don't know how we're going to pay the bills!

It's been a low energy, body-achy day for me and I've been keeping really quiet to try to ward off another MI. Did get some house clean-up done after all our company - dishes and washing sheets and all that. Used my Christmas gift certificates for some on-line shopping - taking advantage of big sales - new clothes, yay!

The last of our company left early this morning. We had a low-key New Year's eve with movies & cake and watching the ball drop with the kids. I didn't think I'd make it to midnight but I did it in my jammies and then went right to sleep.

Hard to believe it's school tomorrow. Droolie - I love that expression o'dark thirty! I'm gonna use that. Lucky for me DH does the kids off on the bus routine so I can sleep a little more - but when he starts a new job that may end so I'd better enjoy it now. 6:00 a.m. awake is not the best way to start a migraine-free day for me!

I started today cutting back on the caffeine - I have fewer migraines when I'm off it as well as less anxiety. If I go cold-turkey I get migraines for days, though. I cut back to 1/4 cup in the a.m. and after lunch - tomorrow will make it even less. Wish me luck. Also off sugar again today.

Wishing you all the best -
nutmegan

Heres hoping for a healthy happy new year for all!!

We had a quiet low key New year night. We played card games and just relaxed till midnight! It was nice. My head was hurting, bbut tollerable.

We dont have the WII yet, waiting for next christmas, as the price should go down a bit. Still too new Wink We have a Gamecube though. We all love Zelda, as well as Mario party. We have Mario Party 5 and 7. Its a great 4 or more player game for kids!(and us parents too!)

Our schools dont start till the 7th this year. So we are still on vacation! The kids didnt get out of school till the Friday right before christmas though. NOT looking forward to getting back on schedule though! I prefer summer when theres NO schedules! oh ya and no dark'o'30 either Wink

I took some Imitrex this afternoon when my migraine started getting worse. It took the edge off enough that DBF and I went for a walk around downtown. It was nice walking weather - not too cold, not raining, but not too sunny either. I was feeling a little shaky and definitely tired by the end, but I think a lot of that was the Imitrex. I'm debating whether I want to nap for a little while. First some food, then I'll see how I am.

My kitten is currently sitting on my arm (laptop is in my lap) and trying to attack the mouse cursor. He's making it difficult to type! Smiler
Oh well.

Unfortunately I'm back to work tomorrow. Having today off was great, though.
