Happy Hump Day!

I think this Migraine is finally starting to realize it's time to go away and it's no longer welcome. I don't have as much pain today as I did yesterday so I'm hoping that's my trend until this bad boy is gone..yea steriods!

Work was really good yesterday. Another busy day that went by quickly. Today is truck day...ick! And, I know for sure it's coming and it's a full load, double ick. Oh well, it's exercise, right?

The kids had off from school yesterday for election day. I came home from work and DD asks me what time my parent teacher conference is...oooops, I totally forgot about it! But, I had enough time to eat lunch and head over there. Her report from her teacher was outstanding!!

Amy-The only reason the ER was so crowded was because of the time I went. I'm sure if you get to a patient's first or the ER early in the morning, it won't be that bad. It's worth a shot. I just couldn't because I just started my new job...wouldn't make the best of impressions calling in sick when I haven't even been there a month yet LOL

Have a great day everyone!

Morning everyone-
I wish I could say it was a good one, but no such luck. I've been up since 2:30 and am not in much of a mood to be messed with.

Guess what complicates asthma-WHOOPING COUGH! Dr/boss did a whooping cough test on me on 10/21 and when the results came back, he told me they were neg. Well guess what? When the state dept. of health calls and wants to speak to the nurse about you, you sort of wonder. Seems like it was positive! Thank goodness my reg. doc put me on a z-pack when I saw him on 9/29 or I'd still be contagious! I also can't get my flu shots now. I've had to wait because I was on steroids, which can make the vaccine ineffective, but now I can't get them until I'm well-another 3-4 weeks! Lets see-asthma + flu or asthma +H1N1. Gee, sounds like more fun on the way.

Everyone in the house is on antibiotics because state law requires you to treat the entire house. The boys should have been immune because of the Tdap shots they got as babies, but they have to take antibiotics too. The school will be notified this morning so I expect a call telling me the kids have to be tested before they can come back to school even though it is LONG past the time they would have had symptoms if they were going to get it.

That was sort of the final straw yesterday. I spent the boys karate class in the truck bawling, I quit karate last night and I just don't care about much today. I'm tired of being sick, tired of not being able to breathe and tired of a DH that won't touch me in ANY way because he's afraid I might have an asthma attack. To top it all off, my head isn't happy at all this morning. I HOPE I can abort this one.

Sorry to start the morning off with a gripe-I don't have anyone that I can talk too so bawling is the next best thing and I've done enough of that do fill a river.

Better go get the day going. Dr/boss IS going to explain some things to me today and I don't care if he likes it or not.

Laura-I'm glad you're feeling better today. I hope the truck unload doesn't get you going again.

Heather-I hope you were able to find out something at the gastro yesterday and get some relief from your pain.

Gotta run
Lynn

Well yes, it's Morning!!

I have a meeting in 1/2 hour and I have to go make more coffee. I'm not hopeful for a day that starts out with the coffee pot overflowing. I will try to be positive.

Lynn I am so sorry. My sister has similar health problems as you with asthma and had whopping cough a number of years ago. Like you it took ages to diagnosis. Unlike you, her doctor did not miss read the results. Lynn I cannot encourage you enough to just go home and rest. You are beating your body up. I know you are feeling like crud when you quite something you love (karate). Please, the world will not come to an end and dr/boss will get over any hissy fit he throws.

Laura sorry it's truck day. I hope you are able to keep the "it's exercise" attitude for a long time to help you through it. Also glad to hear your meds are working.

Heather how did your appointment go yesterday? Is there a resolution or a firm diagnosis? I sure hope so. You have been through the mill

Oh, Peggy posted yesterday on FB that Alaura is still in the hospital and not doing well. She initially was responding to meds and now is not. She can use all of our prayers and positive thoughts.

I have a therapy appointment today. It's the first one in ages. I believe it will probably be my last one for awhile. I really don't need the ongoing help with getting through the wedding and DS getting off to school. Life really is much smoother these days.

Ok, I need to go. Need that coffee before my meeting.

Take care,
Cindy

Oh Lynn! Group Hug and Group Hug You're just getting slammed from all directions. Taking time off from karate is probably a good thing. You defintely need more down time for rest and recovery. I had no idea they make the whole family take antibiotics for that sort of thing. (Sorry I have issues with "mandated" health stuff - yet another reason we don't do public school) But I hope everyone else in your family comes out unscathed. I wonder if you picked it up from a patient??

Laura - Glad to hear your migraine seems to be on the way out. My ear was absolutely killing me last night at like 3 am. Ugh. So of course I slept very badly and it now seems like the migraine is hovering in the background waiting to slam me. Frowner

Morning all...

I got hit with a migraine yesterday, but it wasn't too bad.... At least it isn't here this morning! I'll take what I can get.

I also got a good nights sleep last night Thumbs Up

Nothing going on but work right now. Still have a cold. Would rather be in bed... But today should be alright.

Laura: I'm glad your migraine is starting to break Thumbs Up I guess the Medrol is working.

Lynn: Now that you have a front office person, take a couple sick days! I think with a diagnosis of whooping cough you probably won't get in trouble....

Cindy: I hate days that start out with coffee disasters. Not usually a good sign. Let's just hope that it's the worst thing that happens to you.

Heather: How did the doctor's appointment go?

Eileen: Group Hug I hope your specialist has some answers for you when you see her next week.

Meli: Sorry to hear your relief didn't last. I know your one job is cooperative about you taking time off. Maybe you should take a couple days off to see if you can get your head to calm down. I know too much activity re-triggers a migraine for me if I haven't gotten it out of my system.

Amy: Were you able to get in with your doctor or get a Rx over the phone? I hope you can get that taken care of soon?

Well, my internet is not being cooperative this morning, so I may not get back. I hope everyone is AWAP.

It's Hump Day plus here, the kids have Friday off school.

Kath was funny a few days ago, she thought it was a riot that I knew what hump day was. Smiler

Bad night's sleep. It was after 4 am before I fell asleep; 6:50 comes way too early after a night like that.

I got a book from the library yesterday, the sequel to The Hunger Games. I have to read it fast, it's on reserve for about a gazillion people, but I've been waiting to read that forever. Had to stop on 1984, but I can pick it back up again.

Election day yesterday and it looks like the smoking ban in public places won! Big Grin I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am - people talk about second had smoke and cancer, what about migraine triggers?

Laura, I'm glad you migraine is easing.

Lynn, take care of that whooping cough.

Cindy, I'm glad you life has settled down.

Amy, do you have an appointment to check that ear?

Kelly, Kath saw your picture on FB last night. She's into dying her hair, tats and piercings, so she told me to tell you she thinks she would like you as a friend. Smiler Her criteria for friends starts out with physical appearances (she's had some disappointments) but I have to say that this time her assessment is right, you are a good migraine friend and friend and I think you two would get along.

Funny what teenagers will focus on.

Hi everybuddy,

Lynn, I'm so sorry to hear about the whooping cough! Please get lots of rest and take care of yourself! Group Hug

Laura, I'm glad your DD remembered the conference!! We have ours next week. I always feel like a little kid in the principal's office when I go to those things.

Cindy, have a cup of coffee for me! I could use the caffeine! I've never been a coffee gal--diet pepsi is my vice, and I don't drink much of that at all anymore...

Amy, I hope you get to the doc and get some help for that ear! Migraine--stay away from Amy!

Kel, sorry you couldn't dodge the bullet yesterday. Glad you're feeling better today, though.

Deb, give us a review of your new book when you're finished!

I'm off to a grouchy start today. I woke at 5:45 AM to some workmen hammering and smacking heavy metal things in the back of a pickup truck. My neighbor is getting a new roof on her house and the guys doing it don't seem to realize that they need to wait til a more reasonable hour to start. Woke up all of us--even the kids. Everyone was crabby. If they hammer tomorrow at 6AM, I'll be calling the police, I think. UGH!

Happy Wednesday! Guess we made it to the middle of another week.

Well, I saw the GI doctor yesterday. He is just a perplexed as my PCP.Confused

Tomorrow I'm going in for a procedure where he is going to take a scope to look at my esophagus and stomach. Luckily, I'll be asleep. I've had this done once before 3 or 4 years ago. At that time, the stretch my esophagus and took a biopsy of my esophagus.

The doctor wants to do blood work, again, to see where my liver tests are now. He thinks that it is possible that the liver tests could be something separate from the pain. If the blood tests, show that my liver functions are still elevated, then he wants to do a liver biopsy.

So, it's still a wait and see.

I need to get back to work. Just wanted to update everyone. The good news is that the procedure I had last month seems to be helping out for my migraines. Thumbs Up

Hope all have a good day. Think about all of you.

Good Morning Everybody--

Yesterday was my last day in the OR at Scott and White. Now I'll just be working at CVS and at Gallagher's a local independent pharmacy. I'm going to miss working in the OR but won't miss getting up at 4:30 a.m. so I could go to work, that's for sure.

I'm not absolutely certain yet but I think the Magnesium infusions may be helping. Last week I only had one mild headache.

Heather--I'm sorry you didn't get any definitive answers, but not too surprised either. Once something like that isn't obvious it can be a problem to identify.

Jenny--It's never any fun to be awakened at an unreasonable hour, particularly to construction noise.

Deb--Glad you were able to get the book and especially glad there wasn't any cigarette smoke at the polling places to give you a migraine.

Kel--Hope the migraine continues to stay away. That little sleep can be such a trigger for me.

Amy--Hope you've been able to consult a doctor about your ear infection. It sure isn't likely to get better without antibiotics.

Cindy--I'm going to try to get off coffee now that I don't have to get up early to go to work in the ER. I don't like the caffeine induced headaches.

Lynn--Whooping Cough? Oh dear!!! You need to get some rest darlin'. It takes time to recover from that especially with asthma complicating the picture.

Laura--I hope that migraine continues to resolve itself. You've had it plenty long enough.

Everyone have an AWAP day.

Tracie

Instead of tea, it's chicken broth. I'm struggling with a nasty migraine today, complete with aura and vomiting. Razzer What a way to wake up at 2:00 a.m.

It is a pretty day outside, but my blinds are pulled closed Cool because of all that sun.

I'm leaning on family today to drop off and pick up the older kids from school. No driving when I'm like this. I always feel so uncomfortable to ask for people to do things for me.

This is my second really big migraine for the week, so no more abortives left for the week. Hair Raising I'm working with a new HA specialist with new ideas. I'm cautiously optimistic, but anxious to leave behind the routine I'm familiar with. Hey, if it was working I wouldn't be looking for a new member to play on my migraine team right?

I'm rambling now. Here's to holding down liquids and better days ahead.

I've read all the posts today, but am unable to respond individually. I'm thinking of you all.

Oh, Liz! You poor dear! I hate when I have one of those kind of Migraines. It's like nothing you do makes you feel better. I hope it passes soon for you! Do you have any anti-nausea meds?

It has been a super busy day here today. We now have 16 phone lines, and one person to answer them....me. Along with that, I had 3 techs in the office and last I checked, you can only take one call at a time so you can only imagine how nutty it is here when it is busy!

Deb - I'm glad your smoking ban passed! Although I am a smoker, I hate smoking inside - I hated when you could smoke everywhere. It is much nicer to not walk into a place and get hit with stale smoke - and also breathiing is a nice thing too! LOL

Tracie - enjoy not having to get up as early - that is really nice!

Heather - glad to see you are getting relief somewhere! Hope you get some more answers soon!

Jenny - I'd be grouchy too waking up with noise in the morning!

Kel - sounds like we are all jockying for your hair color! I love it! Mine gets done on Sat, although I don't think mine will be as funky. I'd love to streak it though. It's been a while since I did that!

Amy - I'm the same way with sleep. I can tell that I'm in for a whopper by how many times I woke up in the night. Hope it didn't hit too hard! Hugs!

Ok, I'm gonna go - I'd like to get out of here before it's too late!

Good afternoon everyone-
Well, it's been a day. I worn out and just don't give a rip about much. BUT-I'm off work the rest of the week AND I have an appointment with MY doc tomorrow morning to get some straight answers.

I had several questions about whooping cough today and ask dr/boss and it's amazing how my symptoms suddenly changed to fit the diagnosis-at least in what he was saying. He wouldn't listen to anything I tried to tell him and a lot of my symptoms fit more the asthma than the whooping cough. I decided enough was enough and I wanted to talk to someone who's best interests' were in me as a patient-not keeping me at work no matter what.

Lessens learned-dr/boss will not EVER touch me again as a patient-no matter how desperate I am. I have my own doc and I'll not use him again. I intend to do nothing this week but sit in my recliner and do nothing. I might scrap book some because that is such a relaxing thing for me to do, but no house work, no ANYTHING but rest time for ME.

Gotta go and finish up dinner and get the kids to karate. DH and I are due a LONG talk tonight too.

See you gals tomorrow!
Lynn

Hey guys -

I had fatigue today I just couldn't shake. Could barely wake up, barely stay awake. Had to get up to work with my bookkeeper in the afternoon - she's only coming every 3 months now, since that's what I can afford, and I can't miss it. Then I got another assignment from an attorney I've been working for - that's good! But I need some energy to get it going! Don't know what's up. I had a very mild Migraine yesterday, and was a little congested over night. I hope the sinus yuck isn't coming back, but I haven't had any symptoms other than the fatigue. Fibro flare, maybe? I can't tell which tune is playing on the hit parade! I was planning to do big house cleaning today, my uncle's coming on the weekend. Didn't do a thing. Frowner Well, I went through the mail. Big whoopy!

Lynn I am so sorry to hear about the Whooping cough! I guess that has developed a resistant strain, I keep hearing of people having it lately and we've all been vaccinated. I also think you are quite right that dr/boss is not to be trusted in treating you medically. He has good moments but all in all does not place your health first. Good luck with your own doc tomorrow! And I hope you get a good rest the next few days.

Liz I hope your tummy settles down!

Eileen hope your head's better than it's been, coping with your busy day.

Tracie good to see you - glad to hear the mag infusions are doing you good!

Heather oh dear! Wish you had some answers! Hope you get some soon.

Jenny hammering at 5:30 is definitely too early!

Deb congrats on the smoking ban! Remember when every restaurant you went into was choking with smoke? I like this much better!

Kel I'm glad your Migraine went away so quickly!

Amy did you get to see someone about that ear?

Cindy glad things have quieted down for you!

Laura I hope the truck days get easier for you. When I started at the store 6 months ago I thought I'd never have the stamina to be on my feet for all that time - but I also said "hey, it's exercise" and my stamina has actually improved a lot.

Well see you all - going to have some dinner then do a support group session. Hope to do some house-cleaning tomorrow. Oh yay! Roll Eyes

- Megs
