Good morning,

I was just reading over yesterday's Tea Room and seeing all the kids and ourselves not doing so hot so I am hoping everyone is doing better today.

I woke up with a migraine but I have to keep on trucking this morning so I can take Paulie to the doctor for his cough. Then I can come home and relax.

Leighann just came in and says she feels sick to her stomach...not sure if she just wants to stay home with Paul and I or what..to be determined with in 10 minutes.

Ok, need to get into a HOT shower to help me get started.

Hugs to everyone!!!

Hey Laura - you feel better! So sorry you're migraining and hope you make it through the appointment okay.

I'm smiling about Leighann and the 10 minute decision - so many mornings are like that with kids - are they sick or not, are they sick enough to stay home. Danny mostly gets the kids up in the morning before work but I often wake up to him asking me if I think one is really sick or not - Ummm - just woke up - miraculous motherly mind-reading not operating yet! LOL. Both mine are off to school today, thank goodness!

I feel half-way decent this morning. Post-drome ick seems gone. Got 3-4 months worth of insurance claims, appeals, resubmissions straightened out and copied & packaged up yesterday. Just remains to take them to the post office for certified mail. It is so time consuming; I have to start doing it every month - it means real money! Glad to be done and I can move on to fun projects today.

Hope everyone has a great day.

- Megs

Yes, my counter/ticker did get up to 8 days w/o a migraine. So much for that. Crying Add to it a painful arm and I was not happy last night

Thing that stinks is that there's nothing for me to do at work today- which means a wasted day- basically a day off without the perks- my arm still hurts too much to do serious typing. So, I come for the pity party and the hugs. I shall be back later though, I hope. I had to take painkillers this morning for the elbow, and had a migraine last night, so I;m not exactly a happy camper.

But, I'm here, and ready to give hugs away! Group Hug

Well I think you should replace that crying face with a happy face given how much you've gone through lately.

I feel like I didn't get enough sleep last night. I got the same amount as always (thank you new sleep program - is that good or bad? I don't know.) All I'm thinking of is a nap but I have a meeting at 10:30 with Nikoli's teaacher and the district psychologist.

Nikoli has had trouble all year turning in classroom work, he gets distracted (duh! ADHD!) It's affecting his grades - down from all As to Bs and Cs. Now, lots of moms would be happy with that report card, but he can do better. We've increased his meds twice - I'll find out this morning if this last increase has helped.

I wanted to find out if I could get him an IEP - I honestly don't know how they would handle the distraction. He would fall under Other Health Impaired because of the ADHD.

I've been told three times now, three different people, that's he's "too smart." No one will consider it until his grades are in the Ds. WHAT? Addressing falling grades is like preventive meds for migraines - catch it now before it gets worse! They said they can do an official evaluation, but probably nothing would come from it.

So we'll see how this meeting goes.

Last night's dinner was a disaster. I'd done the ham hocks and lentils before and the ham was so good. All five hocks I had this time were pure fat. We got about five bites from all those hocks. The lentils tasted great - they should, they cooked in pork fat for an hour! (Emeril: "Pork fat rules!") This was supposed to be dinner tonight, too, until we blew through all the hocks looking for meat. So I went and bought a tiny ham and I'll cut it up and boil the ham and add it to the lentils.

The weather is again cold, windy and snow flurries. Poor Nikoli wants more snow so bad. When we were leaving for school this morning and he saw the flurries he asked, "should I put down more salt? It's snowing." Uh, no, that's ok, it's just flurries.

Mornin yall!

Wow rough day yesterday all around. Hope everyone is doing better today!

Laura, Kick that migraine in its butt! And hope those sick kidlings of yours gets better real soon! I know all about that 10 min. decisions! Yes Had to chuckle at that one!

Jamie, ss your day is going rough! Hope that arm of yours heals quickly! congrats on the 8 day ticker though!

My lil man seems to be feeling quite a bit better today, though he is still pretty grouchy this morning. He says his head still hurts a bit, but its "only about a 3 today mom" More annoying than flat out pain. No nausea thankfully! Hope it breaks soon. its gone on since Sunday night.

I had my phone consult finally with my neuro yesterday. I was happy to report that while the quantity is still really high, the severity is better. I am still getting 3-4 a week, but they arent laying me flat out. We are going to keep doing what we are doing, plus up the namenda again. We both feel the namenda and depakote are helping, now just to figure out how to lower the quantity of migraines. I see her again in 6 weeks. We will keep tracking and see where to go from there!

Well have a great day yall!

Deb - We went through this with both kids. When kids bright enough to get straight A's are up and down from A to D and mostly losing points for not getting things in on time, the schools should be helping!

We have been told we can't get an IEP because ADHD is not a cognitive deficit. But they did create a "Pupil Assistance Plan" for Adam. Took a lot of arguing to get them to do that. It involves getting the teachers to pay more attention to him - putting him in the front of the classrooms, overseeing how he writes down his assignments, etc. I think basically the system doesn't know how to handle ADHD kids. Good luck - if you want to chat about it some more or compare notes off-line, let me know!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Kids had a 2-hour delay today. We had lots of ice and a little snow overnight. Now it's raining and you'd never know how bad the roads were just a couple of hours ago...

My little guy is still hacking up a storm. The pediatrician is calling in some new meds for him.

Good news: My MIL saw her doc yesterday and he doesn't feel anything serious is going on (she was having chest and back pain and feeling short of breath). DH was very relieved to hear his Mom is probably going to be OK...She's going for a stress test just to be sure, though.

Laura, those 10-minute decisions are the worst! With my older son, I always am extra cautions. He's got asthma and any little cold or cough seems to affect it. I'd rather drive him in to school 30 minutes late (after a breathing treatment) than have him struggle with his breathing at school.

Megs, glad to hear you got that tedious insurance work done! Hope something more interesting is in store today!

Migraine, stay away from Lori!

Jamie, 8 days is terrific! I'll send you lots of hugs to get you through the day: Group Hug Group Hug Group Hug

Hmmm, Deb and Megs--back when I was working in mental health, I did lots of work with school districts. I've seen lots of IEP's for ADD/ADHD kids! The districts typically insist upon a diagnosis provided by their school psychologist...That person will do classroom observation and formal testing to arrive at your child's diagnosis and recommendations. (It is possible to have the assessment done by an independent school psychologist, too.) You may have to be insistent...IEP's mean extra work for the school. If your team is not cooperative, it may be a battle!

Tawsha, I'm glad to hear your son's feeling better. It's great that you're seeing some good progress with your migraines! Lower intensity is helpful. Keep working at it--you'll find the right "recipe!"

Thinking of you all. Have a healthy day!

Morning all!

Per my HA specialist's instructions, I (re)started Topamax last night, 25 mg. Didn't seem to have any immediate negative side effects, so that's good. I'm to stay at this dose for a week, then increase it to 50 mg.

Unfortunately had another bad night of sleeping, but not *quite* as bad as Sunday night. Still had to drag myself out of bed though, and got into work about a half-hour late. No biggie. My migraine pain has settled down to a 4 so hopefully it doesn't progress much beyond that.

No big news here otherwise. Half of my team is out today which will make it a nice quiet day.

Too many of you already here to reply to - but I'm thinking of all of you. Those of you not feeling well (or with kids not feeling well), hope it gets better soon. Those of you having a good day, hope it stays that way. And hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday! Heart

Hi!

It's after 1 pm here. For some reason, the site wouldn't let me post earlier. Has anybody else had trouble?

Solveig! How good to hear from you!

I hope everybody's day has improved.

It's 48 and very windy here. Sustained winds of 16 mph with gusts to 22 mph. Sparky and I walked, but I haven't been by myself. My ears got icy cold. I'll probably ride the exercise bike.

My DH is feeling poorly. He took his first Lexapro (switching from Wellbutrin) yesterday morning, and started feeling bad about 90 minutes later. He came home after lunch and slept most of the afternoon. He's home today, too. He's been reading but hasn't done any at-home work. He joined Sparky and me but turned back early because he was cold. I'll start worrying tomorrow if he doesn't perk up.

Today's my dad's 78th birthday. We had a nice chat this morning. He has a law office downtown and goes to town every day. He leaves home after rush hour and tries to be home before the afternoon traffic starts.

I'm going to try to reconstruct about 2 weeks of my headache calendar today. I wrote stuff down on my Diet Center food diary, but the info never made it to the computer. What a pain. I've got to get the housekeeper's corrected W-2 filed before Feb 29. And it's time to run the bills.

I've got something starting. I've taken my Skelaxin and just took Imitrex. I'm putting off the Anaprox for now.

Time for lunch.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is feeling better...

Usually I get here earlier but spent this morning at the dentist..yea.. at least I don't have to have fillings or anything!

Hugs for everyone, esp. gentle ones for Jamie. Group Hug

Went to bed last night but work up shortly afterward to really loud ear ringing. And then the migraine kicked in. Shortly after that the wind started to pick up an an hour later it was raining. Rain Is that what it's like to have a weather trigger? I will have to document and see what my log says.

Thanks everyone! Leighann went to school <grin>; Paul on the other hand, not so much. His sick time has been extended from Thursday to Monday because he has bronchitis. Better than pneumonia though. For some reason, the doc didn’t prescribe a cough medication, but an anti-nausea med.

I can’t believe I didn’t catch that before we left and I was already picking it up at the pharmacy…duh!! I’m blaming the migraine. I have a call into the doc’s office to find out why. At least the doc put him on the Z-Pac.

Paul thought that meant more time on the Xbox (I had to limit him to three hours as it is) but I emailed his teachers the moment we walked through the door. Homework will be available tomorrow. Hehehe.

My head is actually calming down despite the weather…hooray!

Megs-glad you’re feeling better

Lori-Hope you start feeling better

Jamie-It sounds like you could use some big huge hugs!!

Deb-I hope the school appointment went well. Send the flurries this way please, I miss the snow

Tawsha-Hooray on your son getting better bit by bit. Gotta love that pain scale huh? My son JUST learned it. And, another hooray on your headaches being less severe

Jenny-I’ll keep your MIL in my thoughts

MJ-I hope you get enough rest tonight

Gretchen-Happy birthday to your dad and I hope DH perks up!

Dar-Have fun with Zach! Keep the beast away!!!
