Happy Saturday!
No one has posted yet which means either a) you're sleeping in, or b) you're out and about. Both are good. It's all good. I DIDN'T HAVE A MIGRAINE YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I apologize for raising my voice there, but I'm so happy. Got an email from my sister yesterday. She's getting an award! She's an economist and has worked for a think tank for years, and she's being award a special prize for achievements in her field. I'm so delighted for her! She was funny in her email. She said, "I'd like to thank all the little people....!" DH is out playing squash. It's a beautiful sunny day here again, but not as warm. When he gets back this afternoon we have to start going through the questionnaire for the neuropsych testing. It asks things like how old were you when you started riding a tricycle!!!! I have no clue. That question is really meant for children with development disabilities, but I thought it was funny. Have a great day, everyone! LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) |

Good morning! It's still AM here, but not by much.
LauraSue -- How's your dermatitis? When I've had problems, it's been either a dosepack or Lotrisone (my personal friend), followed by Vusion. It sounds like yours is a real booger! My fingers crossed that this is temporary and will be gone by your follow-up. My doctor usually refers me to someone he knew in medical school. And they're usually smartypants, just like him, if you catch them with their guards down. My psychiatrist especially. Judging the quilt show was great fun. My mom and I gossiped for 90 minutes on the trip each way. There were 50 quilts. We had a fairly long discussion (on the same wavelength) over which one was Best in Show, but we finally settled on one amazing quilt describing. It a Winding Ways quilt, a pattern with curved piecing (it's hard to do well), and if you choose your fabrics right, you see circles all over it. You can see a circle wherever you decide the center to be. Very hard to do. And this quilt did it beautifully. And some very interesting and innovative fabric choices. The ladies putting the show together were thrilled with the quilt choice and tickled for the maker. It was fun to watch them. Making the choices in some of the categories was hard. In other categories, the blue ribbon just jumped out. I was amazed at how much I know about putting a quilt together and what makes a quilt a really good one for a competition. It'll be a lovely show today. And it changed a lot about the way I'll make my quilts from now on. Lothian -- did your mom finally make it to the ER? My dad is being stubborn about chronic dizziness, to the point of falling. His doctor prescribed B-12 shots a month ago, and he's yet to see about scheduling them. And he roars at my mom if she mentions it. This has been going on for nearly 53 years, so I guess they enjoy it. Tawsha -- I love Outback's Victoria's fillet and the baked sweet potatoes. I won't let them bring the bread, but I do put butter on the potato. MJ -- I'm so glad the Frova is working for you. The dog hasn't made a pile in the yard for a couple of days, so I chopped up a couple of leftover artichoke hearts (talk about spoiled!) and mixed in a little Miralax. He gobbled it up. We'll see how well it works on him. Docusate stool softener isn't enough. I think the Miralax is working on me after one day. Time will tell. We had 3/8 inch of rain about 7am, but it's sunny now. I'm going to be good and eat my lunch on time, then off to the garden center! Time to get dirty! I hope everybody's day goes well! Gretchen in Mississippi |

Hi guys -
Little sanity check-in. I'm in my course. Last 5 minutes of lunch break. It's going well, but as usual very intense, very very loud at lunch, I jumped up from the table and took a 10 minute walk, now I'm just checking in on you before 4 more hours of intense concepts and lots of arguing from the more combative participants - and they are combative. The attorneys in here are pips! And some of the others, too. It's a big combination of triggering factors for me - got up earlier than usual, hours of intense concentration, loud, multiple noises competing for my attention, flourescent lights, more caffeine than usual to stay focussed - just cross your fingers for me. I'm trying to back down and stay less engaged to stay relaxed. I'll say hi to everyone later. Have great days. - Megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

afternoon yall! Wow everyone is busy today!
Hope all is well and no beasties! TJ started feeling much better after his maxalt yesterday. I am so glad he has that now. It really helps him! I must admit though,I do have an occasional twinge of jealousy(please dont take this the wrong way everyone!) when yall talk about your imtrex or frova, or whatever! I so wish I could experience immediate relief or some help anyway when I get migraines! I did get my Gelstat this week though! I tried it, and while it didnt totally get rid of the migraine, it DID bring the pain down a bit, and really helped with the nausea! All with NO side effects! So I am very encouraged that now I have something to help me! Anyway, I am off to go get ready for my date with my DH! I was doing the math, and its been since early November since we last went on a date together! WAY too long! Im excited, silly isnt it? I see him everyday lol but its always all about the kids! Its so nice to get away just me and him even for a few hours. Well have a wonderful rest of your day everyone! Tawsha |

Gretchen, Thanks for asking, but it looks like this is going to be the stubborn type of dermatitis. I was reading online about it and it often recurs a couple times before it's gone completely. And this type gets WORSE with steroids, so I can't use them. Oh well, at least I don't work anymore, and DH isn't the type to care if I look less than perfect. He always just says, "You look like my sweetie!" Bless his heart! LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. Hello,
Late day today for me. DBF is here and we have been busy in my yard. It does look ever so much better. Lawn is mowed, edges are trimed, plants are fed, all in all a productive day. DS is going to come over tomorrow and help. Though he will be paid. He got a ticket a few weeks ago. Texted his dad yesterday and asked if he would have to pay it himself. DEH (Darling ex husband) called me is hystical laugher, wished to share the moment with me. I too had to laugh. Who was speeding???? Did he think perhaps Santa was going to pay it. I don't think so. He is now eager for work, which I have wanted to pay him to do, it's well out of the normal chore catagory. We did get a good laugh out of it. Tawsha have a great time tonight. Megs I hope you are not too wasted from a day with attoneys and bad lighting and loud voices. LauraSue how wonder no migraines yesterday. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday. Cindy |

Cindy - that's really funny!
When Adam knocks something down he'll say he shouldn't have to clean it up because it's not his fault, the dog nudged him or the wind blew him or whatever - we say, "since the clean-up fairy took the day off, it doesn't matter if it's your fault, it's your responsibility." I guess that's the version for 13 y/os. Can't wait for your version (not!) My brain is really fried. I came close to knocking heads together today. You wouldn't have recognized your sweet little ole Megan. By 5:00 I was yelling at people. And I get to spend all day tomorrow with them too! Sorry I can't reply to everyone. I am really hoping this head tension doesn't morph into the "real thing." took a good chilly walk when I got home and now I'm lying down trying to relax. - Megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

Megan I would suggest a strong drink, a good dinner, a massage and early to bed, oh and make sure you take whatever drugs necessary to get you through tomorrow. You have my deepest sympathy!!
Oh, if you liked Garrett's "who's going to pay", you'll love my DD's who was responsible when she hit a car in parking lot. Please remember, the other car was parked, she was driving, no one else was in the car. It was her brother's fault, because he should have taken the truck..... We love our children don't we. We have tried to raise them to take responsiblity. Usually they do, but sometimes they are teenages. Take care Megs. Cindy |

After briefly checking in on the forum this morning, I went out to renew my license plates. Then it was time for my Alzheimer's Caregiver support group. After that came lunch with a friend. Then off to the nursing home to see my father. For once, he was alert during my visit. The Activity Director was doing bowling with them, and my father was pretty into it. He was commenting on everyone else's bowling shots, and eager to try his own. The Activity Director puts up a "track" that directs the ball toward the pins, so all the resident has to do is push the ball down the track.
After that came some exercise at the YMCA, followed by more forum time at home. Sounds like most of us have had a pretty decent day. I'm glad. |

I'm really late logging on today, but I HAVE to tell you all about the excitement at work last night. We had a whole EVENING of tornadoes!!!!
It started in Belton about 30 miles north, and tornadoes started coming south and touching down all over the place: In Holland, about 15 miles North, near Granger (about 5 miles North), near Hutto (about 5 miles NorthWest), and then heading straight for Taylor, the little town where I work. We had people come to the drive-thru and had them come in (they had NO idea, they were in danger). Then the Austin District Manager called and said there had be one spotted over Taylor. But the trouble wasn't over yet. About 4 more were spotted heading for us. So everybody stood at the doors and drive thru windows trying to spot them backlit by all the lightning. We wouldn't let any of the customers leave. All the sirens were going off--we almost headed for the bathrooms--about the most secure place in the store. After about an hour, it was suddenly all over, thank goodness. We didn't even get very much hail at work. 2 miles from our farm however, the tiny town of Weir got so much that the local CBS channel was broadcasting from there at 10 p.m. DH got to meet the crew, when he decided he really needed a cold beer after all the excitement of dealing with weather, horses, boarders, etc. You know, I could have used a beer too. Too bad that's a trigger for me. Luckily no tornado migraine! Tracie |

I haven't checked in at the tea room for a few days, so I'll drop in for a quick hello. (Or maybe I have? The Topa is making me forgetful again.) My head is not doing well today - I'm going to post in the Support folder shortly about some other stuff.
DBF and I brought Madcat to a park down the street today. Yes, we're true city dwellers. We put our cat on a leash, put him in his carrier and went to the park down the street, then let him out once we got to the park. He's purebred though (plus we live on the fourth floor) so we can't just let him out. It was his first time outside so he was a little scaredy cat (LOL) but it was nice to get out in the beautiful weather for a bit. Tracie, glad to hear you made it through the tornadoes unscathed. Tornadoes completely freak me out, even though I've never been through one. Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ “HOPE CAN GROW FROM THE SOIL OF ILLNESS!” This is the theme of 2008’s National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week in September.
