Well, it's Valentine's day. It's cold, windy, and I am absolutely exhausted. There's no reason for it-- I was off yesterday, I don't have a migraine right now (yay!), and I haven't taken my morning dose of Lyrica yet. I should be happy, perky and ready to go! Instead, I just want to crawl back into bed on top of my heating pad. I've been fighting this for a couple days now, and it just won't go away. My back HURTS (not like an "ouch I pulled my back", but deeper, inside) and this fever is getting annoying, it isn't high or bad, just annoying. I spent the night bundling up in covers only to toss them off and then repeat the process a few minutes later.

I have a feeling the UTI I had a few weeks back is back. With a vengeance. And it's my fault. I've spent so much time at various doctors this fall/winter that I just used a short course of leftover antibiotics, instead of going to the doctor. I bet the course wasn't long enough, especially for a UTI.

Well, I've got to get moving. It's time for me to be on the road, there's work to do today. Grades are due, and yesterday's inclement weather day off has just set me back by a day, so I have to catch up.

I hope you all have happy, migraine free Valentine's day!

I hope your day gets better lothian! You need to call your doctor to let him/her know what is going on.

I'm froggy groggy. Yesterday hit me hard but no real head pain to mention today just the normal day after hangover. I have a great chance to be in bed because we had snow last night and the kids have a two hour delay but I can't fall back to sleep. Even my youngest is up and about!

So, I will be on here for a few and then try to fall back to sleep.

I pick up DH from the airport this afternoon...yea! my man is almost home!!

Movie recommendation that I watched last night: Reign Over Me - sad but great. It also had some funny moments too. I'm going to buy it, that is how much I loved it!

Pain free days everyone!

Does the meds you take have the side effect of kidney or UTI problems? I know it's a side effect with topamax so I take Cranberry tablets (they are chewable) and I find it wards off any inpending problems in that area...but if it's already there....ugh!

Morning all!

Well last night my ears started to ring - a lot. Yep I sence a migraine on the way. It was so LOUD! Nothinig could block it out!

I still have it today, and it has not gone away or gotten "softer". I hope it's just something I noticed and it has nothing to do with prodrome.

Anyway, other then that observation, I'm feelin good!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentines day! I'm cooking dinner tonight and that's pretty much it.

We have a busy next couple days. DH has band practice tonight, playing tomorrow, dinner at my moms Sat, then Daytona 500 Sunday. Whew! I'm gonna be tired come Monday!!!!

Alright, time to get some work done!

Have a good day all!

Good Morning,
Boy, being 2-3 hours behind you guys in a different time zone, I feel like a slacker!! I'm just having coffee. But I don't have a migraine this morning. I am so grateful.

DBF and I are leaving for Chico to spend a couple of days with his sister and her husband and see Garrison Keillor tonight. It should be fun. I would like to enjoy the time!! It's windy, like 20 mph windy, here, very strange.

I need to start getting ready. I have a friend coming to stay with the kids tonight. Their dad has been in Turkey (yes the country, he is not one!) and gets back late. We decided at 16 and 17 that while they could easily handle staying by themselves, the tempations were just too great. So why chance it. The friend is someone they like and are not insulted by having here. So we are all happy.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful Valentines Day and PAIN FREE.

Cindy

Happy Valentines Day!

I had cards for DH, and got him flowers from Walmart yesterday -- an impulse purchase. As usual, the holiday snuck up on him. Like my birthday did on the 3rd. I love him anyway.

We're going out to supper tomorrow night to a nice place. I haven't been there. I'll have to ask and make sure they have good fish. It's a Friday in Lent.

My scalp is getting tight. Time for Skelaxin. I don't have anything planned that will involve going out in public today, which is nice. Yesterday, I wore my shirt tucked into my pants -- in public -- for the first time in more than 10 years.

High yesterday was 43. It'll be in the low 60s today. I've got some yard work to do, mostly picking up sticks that got blown down in the thunderstorms Tuesday.

Lothian -- Could your back pain mean that your bladder infection has backed up into your kidneys? It sounds like UTIs are a repeating problem for you. I had a bladder infection the entire time I was pregnant, so I know how miserable they are. Please get it taken care of.

DS is feeling much better, but I think he's trying to milk this thing for all it's worth. Whatever. He was at a friends apartment, working on a computer program, when I called about 10 last night. That's a good sign.

Sparky is scratching on the CPU, ready to walk me. That's a good sign, too.

Have a great day! Don't eat too much chocolate!

Heart Happy Valentine's Day Heart

I'm making a cake for dh tonight - his mom always made his dad a cake and he loved the tradition, so we continued it. I'm also making dinner, just pork steaks in the oven and lentils and onions and I gotta think of another veggie or two for the kids. They aren't getting into this whole grain/beans/legumes diet we're getting into. But at least they try it.

I told dh I didn't need flowers this year, we've had so many unexpected expenses since August, but when I checked my headache email, I saw confirmation from an online store for flowers he ordered his mom, my mom and me.

Kath has a dentist appointment after school - she says when she eats sweet things a tooth hurts. Hmmmmm.

I hope you're feeling beter lothian. Like the others, I think a call to your doctor is in order.

Eileen, no more ear ringing! I hope you can ward off the migraine.

Laura, have a nice evening with your dh.

Good morning everyone!

Happy Heart Day!

Pretty quiet day here--my son is still struggling with the croup and a very nasty stuffy nose. We're staying inside out of the cold...

My kids have re-discovered the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. They think it is the most hilarious thing ever. I think I've read it about 12 times since last night...

DH brought me flowers last night. The kids and I snuck into his car and left candy and valentines on his passenger seat--just a little surprise to let him know we're thinking of him today!

Oh, and I put a bunch of silly valentine toys in my son's lunchbox today. He should get a kick out of them!

Lothianjavert, feel better soon! Let us know what your doctor says!

Laura, glad to hear your DH is coming home! It's always fun to pick up someone you love at the airport!

Eileen's ear ringing--go away! Devil She has no time for you today!

Cindy, enjoy your visit!

Gretchen, enjoy your dinner with DH tomorrow!

Deb, sounds like you've got a terrific dinner planned. Now when you finish eating, could you come to my house and cook it for us? Big Grin I sure hope Kath doesn't have anything wrong with that tooth...

Have a great Valentine's Day everyone!

Hi all -

Good to see you this morning (probably will be afternoon by the time I get the post up). I stayed up too late last night - had to, because I was doing an Adrenal Function test and had to collect the last sample close to midnight. Mad Woke up with head pain at 6 am, rolled over & went back to sleep - Danny got R out to school Thumbs Up and Adam is home with strep. Thumbs Down Pain on and off this a.m., not sure yet where it's headed (pun intended) - but I canceled the lunch seminar.

Danny is helping out a florist friend, doing deliveries today. He'll probably get paid in flowers - so I may have something pretty to look forward to, even tho it's not in the budget. Flower I've got to get out to the pharmacy in a bit so I'll get some chocolates for him & the kids. That's about all our Valentine's excitement - too close to our birthdays to do much!

Happy Heart Day Lori, and everyone!

Jenny I love Alexander & the Terrible, Horrible, etc. My almost 13 y/o still refers to it when he's had a bad day.

Deb - good for you baking a cake - your lentils, etc. sound yummy to me!

Gretchen congrats on tucking in your shirt! That is exciting. I hope your scalp loosens up!

Cindy have a great time with DBF, and don't feel like a slacker! You west coasters extend the morning for us, so we don't feel behind!

Eileen I hope that ringing goes away! It's a pretty, chilly day here - is it like that where you are? Nice to be out of the soggy mess of yesterday and I hope yu get to enjoy it.

laura - sorry the puppy got stopped but glad he's moving again. Great to have your DH come home on Valentine's. And I'll check out the movie.

Rachael - I ditto what everyone said about the doctor - and so sorry you have to drag yourself in when you're feeling so lousy. Take care of yourself!

Root for my little flower today - I'm hoping it doesn't have to start back at the beginning - but we'll see.

Oh, tomorrow is my neuro appointment - wish me luck!

- Megs

Morning everyone, and happy V-Day! Heart

Last night was not a good night. My migraine had been hovering around a 4 most of the day, but spiked up to a 6 a few hours before bed. The nausea was pretty bad, so I took a promethazine tablet (which only works about half the time for me). Unfortunately instead of knocking me out, it made me extremely shaky. I did my half-hour relaxation program, which relaxed me, but I didn't fall asleep until after 2:30 am. I slept somewhat restlessly and dragged myself out of bed at 8:45 this morning. Last night was one of those migraines where my head was extremely sensitive to touch - it was on the right side and I sleep on my right side so that certainly didn't help things.

I considered calling out this morning, but I really need to save my PTO for a few trips coming up this year and in case of severe migraine. *sigh* So here I am.

HR puts together a Valentine's Grams thing on V-Day - they sell the grams (a giant pink sugar cookie from Costco) for $1 each and donate all proceeds to the American Heart Association. Then one of them (usually their intern) dresses up and they hand them out to the office. This year the intern is dressed up as "Valentino", a cute puppy dog. So far I have three from DBF and one from one of the women who used to work on my team. They did cheer me up, though I won't be able to eat more than half a cookie at a time without risk of making my migraine worse.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - DBF baked me brownies last night. He found a gluten-free and dairy-free brownie mix at Whole Foods, which he made with my rice milk and egg substitute, so the only bad ingredient in them was sugar. He bakes the best brownies, and I've been sad to give them up! The new mix he found is very tasty though, so as long as I don't overindulge I can still have brownies!

That's all from here. I'm going to try to stick it out through the day - we'll see if I can handle the pain today. Can't take any abortives until tomorrow, but tomorrow I'm going on VACATION and I can't wait!!! Big Grin

Happy V. Day yall!

Hope those of you that are not well GET BETTER SOON!! Flower

Well Im starting to see a living room take form, less boxes and more things put away! Slowly but surely! I told my family last night that Im feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to keep up the normal housework, unpacking and all the extra back and forth driving, and that they need to step it up a notch and help out more!

We all are struggling to adjust to new house and schedules. Even the dogs are all messed up, and leaving messes Devil But we all will settle in soon enough!

MJ PLEASE tell me the name of the brownie mix your DBF found! are they totally MSG free? or just gluten and dairy free? Anyway let me know so we can check it out down here.

My son and I both are doing the Test diet for eliminating MSG. I am checking out the book: "Battling the MSG Myth, a survival guide and cookbook" by Debby Anglesey. It has made a marked difference for both of us, we both noticed the biggest difference after almost a week on it, we fudged quite a bit on the move weekend. We both felt not so good, tired, headachey, and sores in mouths or sore throat!

Has anyone else read this?

Anyway gettin long winded, sorry~! Have a great day yall! Group Hug

Tawsha, not only is it MSG-free, but it has no gluten, wheat, nut, egg, dairy or bean. Very friendly for the migraine diet! The brand is called The Cravings Place - amazon.com link to the mix is HERE.

We've also tried their pancake mix - also delicious! Amazon.com link to this mix is HERE.

We don't buy these online - our local Whole Foods and local health food store both carry them. Hopefully you'll be able to find them by you - they are really delicious!! Big Grin

I haven't read that cookbook, but I have eliminated MSG from my diet. Hasn't made much of a difference for my head, but my digestion is better. There's no benefit to eating MSG so I'm fine with eliminating it!

DBF and I are putting together our own cookbook of tasty recipes that are ok in my diet. One of these days I'll start submitting them to this site so Teri can post them, and you guys can try them if you like.
