Good morning!
I'm popping in real quick to see how everyone is doing. We are doing fine. My guests are still here and I'm getting ready to make sausage and bisquits for everyone. Cooking isn't so bad, I just double the recipe for everything. I woke up with a start of a migraine so I took a Maxalt and once everyone is gone this afternoon I plan on crashing. Thanks everyone for thinking about Paulie. He's doing good. I think he was happy he didn't have to help clean yesterday! Have a wonderful day! Good Sunday Morning!
I had a really good day yesterday. So far so good today, no migraines! I'm going to the races today with my son, my friend and her son at the Texas Motor Speedway. The weather is suppose to be beautiful. I'm looking forward to spending the day with them. I'm bringing my sunglasses and cap to keep the sun out of my eyes. Laura, I hope your medicine helps your migraine. I hope everyone has a blessed and happy day! |

Good Morning,
I'm off to a quiet start today. I brought my laptop to bed. I have coffee and cats with me. Pretty low key. Golden Gate Park was wonderful yesterday. It was too funny. I allowed an hour to drive in. It usually doesn't take that long, but sometimes wieird things happen with traffice, I can get lost, you know they move the park, that sort of thing. But it only took me 30 minutes. I pull into the garage, I'm getting my stuff together and a car pulls in next to me and it's my friend. We're both early!! I did not take my camera. What kind of silly decision was that. I was in one of the most magnificant places to take pictures, the Conservatory of Flowers, there is. Do I blame it on a blond moment or menopause??? Ann was raised in the Bay area and I could not believe she had not been in there before. Besides their permanant collections they had a special exihibt of butterflys. It was too fun to have them fluttering about. We did not stay in there very long as there were many small very happy children screeming with joy echoing off the glass. The de Young was amazing. I can't believe I've not been there before. You really can't see it all in a single day. We went on sensory overload in about 2 hours. They have a neat observation tower that goes up 9 stories with 360 views of the city. Breathtaking. Now that I have done my tour guide duties, please come visit. I was done in by 2:30. I get to go see DBF today. This turn around work of 7 days a week 12 hour shifts working grave yard for 6 weeks is awful. I see him once a week for 2 or 3 hours. It should be done in a couple of weeks. Megs glad your course is going well. I hope you kept the beast at bay when you got home. MJ I'm still trying to figure out how to just push the button between turbo tax and Quicken for everything just to go in and have it be right. There must be someway to do that. Laura it sounds like everything with your company has gone well. Your tired, but it's gone well. That's good. Kelly hope you are doing better today. You've had a long week. I think I need to go to the store before DS gets up. I noticed the milk carton in the recycling and he has pitching early and will want milk with breakfast. Take care everyone. I hope we all have great Sunday's. Cindy |

Good morning, everybody!
I'm going to post this to get my 11:55 am time stamp on it, then come back and tell you a great story! So yesterday I told you about the noise from downstairs where they were working on the apartment. Just after I posted, my DH had just left to go to the store, but he came back in right away saying "Laura, this is amazing!!!" I couldn't imagine what on earth he was talking about. He said, "The guy from downstairs was just coming up as I was leaving to give us this and apologize for the noise." It was a pot of the most beautiful pink and red azaleas you've ever seen. There was also a thank you note from his mother, who will be the one living there, saying how much she was looking forward to being here where it's nice and quiet. She's moving out of her old place because it's too noisy!!!!! He said they'd be done with the work today and really appreciated our patience. How's that for a great new neighbor! That's the good news. The bad news is my migraine came back last night, but that's okay because we went to theater and had a lovely evening together. Yes, I actually made it out of the house for a night out with my sweetie! How cool is that?! Laura, sausage and biscuits! You're making my mouth water. Yum! Heather, glad you had a good day yesterday. Hope you enjoy the races. Cindy, could you loan me a cat? I miss ours (but not enough to get another one, DH is allergic). Your day out yesterday sounds wonderful. Today I'm back in bed, lights low, happy as a clam. Hope you all are enjoying your weekend and hope they find a cure for migraines soon! Take care of yourselves, ladies, and DON'T OVERDO!! LauraSue. (I'm 54, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) MENOPAUSE COUNTDOWN: |

Hi all -
Migraining this morning. Not too bad, just the little beginnings of beasts scraping at my brain. Got lots of sleep and just woke up cranky and blue and with no energy. I just took the Imitrex and I'm lying down for awhile, hoping it goes away. I had a nice evening with Danny last night, watched "Deja Vu" with Denzel Washington which I thought was really good. Still crushing on Denzel Washington after all these years! Adam has a friend over now which keeps him out of my hair. I had a nice breakfast with him, he and I were the only ones up. It's just that his enthusiasm is a little loud for me. Rachel appeared in the kitchen for a brief moment then went back to her room again. Yesterday evening she had a headache and I didn't see her. She works, does schoolwork, occasionally does a chore when we ask her, and seems up for a nice conversation once or twice a week. We have dinner together most nights. Other than that I don't see much of her. I guess that's being 17. I miss more contact. LauraSue I'm glad you got out to the theater. What a nice new neighbor! Cindy I haven't been to SF in too long. I have relatives in Berkeley and used to get out every couple of years. I'd gladly have you as a tour guide when I make it back out again! Heather have fun at the races. Laura I hope your Maxalt helps. Glad you got to enjoy your company. Let's send you beast and mine on their ways, okay? Wow, I have been on the go since 7:45 this morning and just sat down now at 2:50. We went to my mom and dad's church this morning and then out to lunch with them for mom's birthday and they came back here for pie - no, I don't make pie!
The weather is absolutely beautiful. For about 12 more hours and then rain tonight, tomorrow night, Tuesday, Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday and Saturday. We are now having mud slides in the area - they have that stuff in CA, not here! The stress of the day has brought on a migraine - so I'm not going to address anyone in particular. I just hope you all have a nice day. |

Another this and that kind of day for me. Church, lunch at Cracker Barrel, and then some shopping/errands with my mom. I had to get a friend a birthday present, so that's done now.
Laura ~ I've gotta admit that I know just where Paulie is coming from. When I broke my paw, the biggest perk was getting out of vacuuming and dusting, lest I should break something. Deb ~ All those wonderful from scratch things you make, and you don't make pie? Somehow that surprises me. My grandma made the best apple pie ever. I miss that almost as much as her homemade noodle soup with butterballs (which she made me special on a 105-degree day just because it was my favorite). She always had a fresh pie when she made noodle soup or anything else for us. Still warm, with vanilla ice cream. Grandma was never happy until everyone was overfilled to bursting. No, I don't, I am definitely not a baker.
My grandma made the absolutely best pies. She'd try to get me or my sister to make one and my sister would say, "I don't have room to roll it out or anything," which is true, she has the most dinky kitchen and counter space I've ever seen. My grandma would just tell her, "get the stuff out the night before!" Now, how getting the stuff out the night before would increase counter space...I don't know, but we still laugh about that answer. I think it's because baking is like science - you have to have exactly the right measurements; all the cooking I do is just throw in garlic or cheese or maybe some thyme would taste good. The reason I had to make my soup recipe three times was because I was trying to see how much I used of everthing - including counting out the number of baby carrots! I didn't know how much I used, I just threw a bunch into the cuisinart, but that darn Food Network wanted exact measurements!

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone is having a pain free day or on their way to a pain free day. Its actually Monday morning, 8.40am, here in Singapore. I guess we're a day ahead of most of you in the States. I'm starting my day with taking my 15mth old daughter to Gymboree. My 4-year-old has just left for nursery and won't be back till 2pm so I intend to start my first gym workout when I get back, just like the doctor instructed. Fingers crossed I'm motivated by 11am. Surprisingly I did some meal planning over the weekend so we're set for dinner tonight which means I can take the kids to the playground this afternoon when my 4-year-old gets back. Its been 6 days since my last attack. We've still got a long way to go so fingers crossed. Cheers, Catharine |

Hey everyone. I'm here late today. Catharine, since you're taking our Asia shift I guess I'm not so late after all.
So I spent the ENTIRE DAY going back through Quicken because when I downloaded my year's worth of bank info from the power that is the internet, random transactions got dropped so I had to go check all of it against my paper statements. Which I was going to do anyway, but still. Now everything in my checking and savings accounts are complete for all of 2007. My credit cards are a lost cause for the time being, but there aren't any medical expenses on there except for one (which I found the receipt for) or anything else tax-related. So, looks like I might finally be able to actually file. Aside of the fact that it's getting close to the deadline, I'm motivated to file because I should be getting a decent refund again this year, and I will be buying a new laptop with that refund. The laptop I'm using now can then be happily retired. My head's actually been fairly well behaved today, which I think is mostly due to the Imitrex, ibuprofen and icepack combo yesterday. I'll take it. The beastie's starting to wake up though, so I'll be ditching the computer soon for my knitting - I'm currently working on a somewhat complex scarf for my mom for Mother's Day. Laura, your talk of biscuits and gravy is making me hungry! That's one of my all-time favorite foods, but is completely off the menu since it's got all sorts of gluten and dairy in it. I may ask DBF to find a way to make me some I can eat. Heather, hope you enjoyed your day at the speedway without the beastie. Cindy, I'm convinced that no matter how you try to do your taxes there's no magic button. LauraSue, so glad you made it out with your DH for a night on the town. And your new azaleas must be so pretty! Megs, hope you're feeling better after this morning. Sounds like you had a good evening with DH. Deb, I know what you mean about cooking without recipes. I never use exact amounts. Neither does anyone in my family, it seems. Somehow my sister makes amazing pumpkin pie though. Droolie, hope you enjoyed your this and that day. Catharine, I'll just warn you that I'm going to be perpetually confused with the date line - so you'll always have to tell us what time it is for you. I'm going to poke around here a bit and then get to my knitting. See all of you tomorrow. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" "I do not know. Nor shall I worry about it until it happens.
