What's an ide, anyway?

Well, it didn't work to try to sleep off last night's last-minute-right-before-bed-tiny-point-of-migraine-pain. Woke up with about a 3. I had to get Rachel from her sleepover so she could go to work, so I had to wait to take the Imitrex until after driving. Just got home and took it a little while ago - not lot of pain but since I took the Imitrex now I'm spacey and apathetic. And I've got the pressure in my chest the Imitrex sometimes gives me, teeth buzzing and arms aching. I don't always get all these side effects. Ick. Hope it passes soon.

Hope you're having a better start to your days!

- Megs

Good Morning--

Well I caused myself problems this morning. I've been getting away with drinking some coffee in the morning--geez I love morning coffee. Well this morning I used an extra large cup and triggered a mild headache. Went ahead and used the Zomig so am fine now--but I make myself mad at me sometimes!

I'm going to have to spend the day on the computer, trying to get things ready to send to our tax preparer, but after realizing that I was triggering shoulder pain by using my little computer table, you can bet the laptop is in my lap today.

DH is still having twice a day clusters. The neurologist, who I am now officially mad at, didn't change anything, just said the Verapamil hadn't had time to start working yet! I went to this guy and fired him, but he has up to now done a good job with DH. But where is the steroid burst, or other change, he needs to slow or break the cycle--twice daily is a lot of Imitrex injection.

Thanks for the vent--DH never believes I might know what I'm talking about!

Hi everyone,

I'm just stopping by during my in-between time (after the kids' Easter egg hunts and before we leave for my brother's birthday celebration).

Megs, I sure hope you're feeling better soon! It would've been nice if that rotten migraine had gone away while you were asleep!

Tracie, I'm sorry to hear about your morning coffee. Don't beat yourself up about it too much...We all make mistakes like that! I sure do hope your husband gets better control of his clusters soon! Do you think he told the doctor EVERYTHING about just how bad they are right now?

I'm feeling well today. My last nerve block is still doing a very nice job of controlling the pain. It's really nice to have some "normal" family time without struggling through it!

We're thinking about taking the kids to see Horton Hears a Who later today. Tomorrow, maybe the museum (my older son's favorite place in the entire world). I'm gonna make the MOST of this pain-free time!!

I sure hope you all have a nice Saturday!

Jenny--

Yeah he told the neurologist how bad they are. Even called back yesterday. I fired the turkey because he had taken me off all preventives to see where we were, which made sense. But after we saw where we were, I couldn't get him to prescribe another preventive, he was sure I just needed CPAP which I CANNOT sleep with no matter what (even tried hypnosis), and when I would call begging for help as in starting a preventive, his so understanding nurse would say they weren't going to call in any narcotics! Since I had made it clear I don't use narcotics for normal migraines (so did my psychiatrist and another one he insisted I go to), I finally got fed up and fired him. Needless to say, I may be making a few calls Monday to some other neurologists on DH's behalf.

Tracie - big yucks with that neurologist - what would DH say if you scheduled him for an appointment with someone good and talked about it after? Maybe a crazy idea, but I'd say - look, I went ahead and did this. You can keep the appointment or not but this other guy isn't helping you and I want you to have some relief!

I slept for almost 3 hours after taking the Imitrex and I'm a little woozy but I think Fingers Crossed that migraine's gone. We have an oh so rare evening out with friends planned and I don't want to miss it!

Jenny you enjoy that pain-free time up a storm! That is so great!

I'm folding some laundry and taking it slow. So glad to be able to function!

I wanna go to the museum!

I'm sitting here with a beastie nibbling at my eyesocket. Where it came from, I don't know. Probably the weather coming in that we hadn't seen yet. It was sunny and all this morning, but it clouded up around one. I've had my Midrin, and it has settled down quite a bit from this morning. My teeth no longer ache, and my left sinus no longer feels all oogy. I also chased my Midrin with McNuggets and fries, which nicely kept the groggies from setting in, and, well, was tasty. It went well with the episode of Mythbusters I hadn't seen before. I love that show!

I'm going to forum a bit and then do some reading. We've got a book Rena thinks might be good for next year's Battle of the Books, so I'm going to read it, too.

Just a typical, not a lot going on Saturday afternoon. Just like I like it.

There's your answer, Megs!

I did get a migraine during the play last night, but I am showing some improvement generally (knock wood). This week I only had a migraine on 4 of 7 days versus last week 5 of 7. And they were all only one day long. Yay, me.

At the moment I'm slightly nauseous. I never actually throw up, but I frequently feel queasy. My home remedy, which works like a charm for me, is one tablet of meclizine (the generic active ingredient in Dramamine II NonDrowsy formula, available without a prescription but you have to ask the pharmacist for it). Plus 6 oz of ginger ale and four mildly sweet little Bahlsen butter cookies (not rich at all, more like sweetened crackers). Plus sitting still for 15 minutes.

Anyway, works for me, take what you like and leave the rest!

Other than that, doing fine. Hope everyone else is too.

Happy Saturday Everyone,

Meg: I'm glad you're feeling better. I sometimes get those last minute migraines, right before bed. I hate to think that I'll waste an Imitrex since I'll be sleeping. What I tend to forget is that once an actual migraine starts, it doesn't go away unless I take an abortive. I'd like to think that if I could just get to sleep, that the migraine will magically disappear and I'll wake up feeling just fine. But as many times as I've tried it and as many times as it's never worked for me... LIKE NEVER Head Banging , I finally just decided that I would take the Imitrex whenever that happened. The longer I have migraines, the more I'm able to tell the difference between a headache and a migraine. I'm SO glad that Imitrex doesn't make me loopy, as I have had to go to work many a day with a migraine, until the Imitrex worked.

Tracie: I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's cluster headaches. I'm very grateful to NOT have those. I know how it feels to worry about the long term effects of taking Imitrex up to 2 times a day, for days in a row. I've been through that and it's no fun.

Laura Sue: YAY for your improvement. It was just a few weeks ago, for me, when I had a migraine 6 days out of the week. Before that it was 4, 5 or 6 days out of a week. But since I'm made some changes, I went down to 3 one week, and only had one last week and so far Good Luck, one this week. I am SO happy about this. I pray for your continued success.

Everyone else: I hope you all had a great Saturday. This is my last Saturday with my husband before he goes back to work. He's been home for 7 weeks, recuperating from a hip replacement. He drives a truck (over the road) and I usually only see him every other weekend. It's been heavenly having him around so much, and it's gonna be tough to let him go.

Blessings,

Sandi
