Hey gang -
It's only morning here a little longer. Hope you're all having wonderful Saturdays - it's another perfectly gorgeous day here. We had a guy from the builder here this morning at 8 am - repairing the tiles in our bathroom that were never installed properly in the first place. I'm glad the work is done, though we can't use the bathroom until tomorrow morning - perfect timing with house guests coming, hey? Anyway it got me up earlier than usual on a Saturday - and I've been doing laundry & cleaning since breakfast. Taking a little lie-down break now since my head's a little sore. My left temple feels like it got hit with a brick, many days ago. Like a left-over sore bruise. Not a lot of pain, just there. This is not what I identify as Migraine, or pro-drome, or post-drome, or TTH. Just another one of the many odd-ball variations this disease has for me, I guess. I like this one better than when the tiny gnomes with grapefruit spoons are scraping inside my skull. And way better than full-blown beast attack, of course. Deb (from yesterday) I can't believe head under the pillow would do anything for you in an earthquake - except maybe you could pass out from lack of oxygen and then not feel anything that comes after? MJ so glad the iv went better. It's great to have that as an option now. Congrats on the new blog, too! Friends coming in a few hours. I've done my thing; Danny's cleaning the family room which I can't cope with. (When these kids both go to college I'll sort all that stuff. Not before. 5 years til I have to worry about it!) Adam's hard at work (???) on his room and I have a promise from Rachel regarding the hall bath... we'll see. Anyway, at this point it is what it is. have a great day all. Sun is shining, birds singing, cool breeze blowing through open windows, and the porch swing is up. what could be better? - Megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

Good morning. Here's hoping the shake, rattle, and rolling is done in the midwest. It's a beautiful morning here in Southern California. And, my typical morning headache isn't too bad. This has the potential to be a great day!
I have to change at least half of the fish tank water today. Somehow we got an out of control bacteria growth going. (I personally think it's from these fizzy "fix it" tablets my husband bought but I'm NOT going to say anything! The puppy is doing great. We've started crate training and she is taking to it pretty well. She barely whimpered the first time we put her in there. Plus is calmed her down from a spell of wild puppy behavior. She is so cute and funny and really lovable. Bob, the cat, is coming around more and more so I think it's just a matter of time before they come to terms with each other. Megs, I'm glad you got your tile fixed. Enjoy your company. You're doing well if the kids clean their rooms or any part of the house. My grown sons never clean their rooms and they smell like locker rooms. Take care everyone. Happy Saturday! |

Hey, Megs, have a great weekend with your company.
Another glorious day here as Megs said. Just one of those days that's so perfect it makes you feel glad to be alive. We are off to "theatah" this afternoon. We're seeing a matinee of Macbeth with Patrick Stewart. This is what I live for!! This is why I spend 9 days in bed so that I feel well enough to go. I can't wait. This will be a production and performance for the history books! Of course I'll get a mig, but that's okay, I got a break yesterday so it won't be too bad. Gotta get going. We have to leave early because the Pope's in town and midtown Manhattan is a "frozen zone" for security, which means ground traffic is a mess. I hate the subway, but today it's the only choice! Have a great day, everybody!! LauraSue. (I'm 54, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) MENOPAUSE COUNTDOWN: |

Good morning!
I missed yesterday. By the time I got to the computer, it was 4:30. Made meatloaf last night. That means meatloaf sandwiches today! Hoorah! I also bought a whole pork loin. Cut most of it into inch-thick pork chops, and we're having roast pork tonight with the rest. Now all I have to get is some boneless, skinless chicken breasts, and my freezer will be full of the right stuff. Kroger has ground round on special. I may make a pot of chili if I get a wild hair. I've got some ground turkey in the freezer. Maybe a good time to use it? It looks like the verapamil is doing what it's supposed to be doing -- preventing headaches that I wake up with. I think it's contributing to the constipation, though. I'm almost up to my full dose of Lyrica. I'll make it there next week. Megs -- a bathroom out of commission with company around? You're brave. I need to get several damaged tiles in my kitchen replaced. I've got 12 cracked tiles, but only 8 tiles left over from the installation 7 or 8 years ago. So I'll replace the ones with gouges and tolerate the cracked ones. The tile company insists they can't help because of color runs, but I don't see the big problem if I'm only replacing scattered tiles. Hoopsky -- I understand about things being easier if DH isn't "helping". Good luck with your fish. Your puppy sounds great! Laura Sue -- I'm jealous of your theater outing!. Patrick Stewart would be one of my boyfriends if I weren't married. And I'm watching the menopause ticker. If you're not over all that, you've definitely gotten irregular. How are you feeling? Hot flashes? Mood swings? My transition was very easy, if that's any help. Happy day, everyone! Enjoy the pretty weather. I am. Going to put off all my bill-paying and play in the yard and get dirty. Happy Saturday!!
Megs-Enjoy your company!! That is great that you were able to get the tile replaced, since I live with my general contractor it seems as if all our house projects are "almost finished" LOL. It is like the story of the cobbler kids having no shoes LOL. Hoopsky-Isn't crate training great!! It actually makes them more secure I think. We did that with Capt Jack and it made life so much easier for him and us LOL. LauraSue-Enjoy the theater!! and say Hi to the pope for me MJ-So glad you were able to get down to a 2. Hang in there!! As for me, I have to finish my migraine diary for the Keeler Center this week. Yes, I have officailly mastered the art of procrastination LOL. But I am excited...It is count down time 4 more days before I leave YAHOO. I better get to it.....Have a Super Saturday!!! |

Hi Guys--
It's a gorgeous spring day here. I just came in from the barn where DF was showing Waco, the horse she wants to sell to a potential buyer. I decided to not ride today. My shoulder is still sore, today inside the actual shoulder rather than outside muscles. 2 days riding plus working yesterday meant 3 days of hard use, so figured probably needed a day of light use. Megs--Enjoy your complany! MJ--I'm so glad the IV worked and you got some relief for at least a while. Hope it's still staying down. I always have a nasty reaction to phenergan (and reglan) so have to use zofran too. It works really well, huh. Hoopsky--Our "puppy" just turned 1 year old. Too bad he still thinks he's 3 months old. He's a Sheltie and still considers himself a lapdog but a wiggly one. I know you're having a ball with yours. Puppies are so much fun! Thank goodness, otherwise, like kids, they'd be too much work. Gretchen--Anytime you run out of dirt your way, I have plenty to dig around in! I never get around to doing much with it anymore. Laura Sue--Enjoy the theater. Patrick Stewart as McBeth! Easy to imagine and gives you chill bumps!! Valerie--I hope the monster stays away. There's never any fun in having to go to work with him tagging along. I'm fighting a baby h.a. today. Still an excedrin one though. Will probably take a couple and lie down awhile. That often works and we're going to have a grandson fix tonight. I went out and bought some cute little granddaughter clothes last week. Tracie |

Morning all! It's still (barely) morning here, but like my mom says, barely is good enough. I'm still doing pretty well this morning, so I'm taking it easy and not overdoing it. Had a little bit of trouble falling asleep last night but I'm otherwise ok. It's yucky and rainy and cold here though. I heard rumors that it's snowing elsewhere here, so I don't know where our spring went but hopefully it comes back soon!
Megs, hope you enjoy your time with your company. And glad to hear your tile repair is finished, though the timing isn't necessarily the best. Hoopsky, good luck cleaning your fish tank and getting rid of the bacteria. Sometimes those "easy" fixes just make things worse! I won't tell your DH though. LauraSue, enjoy the show!! Sounds like a blast!! Gretchen, I had a lot of trouble with constipation while I was on verapamil, too. Sounds like you've got all sorts of yummy recipes going on though! Dar, I'll be thinking of you at the Keeler Center this week! Good luck! Tracie, hope your shoulder starts feeling better soon. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has trouble with the anti-emetics. I think you may have mentioned the Zofran to me before - I was very happy when the nurses offered it as an option and I jumped at the chance! I'm glad it works for me. My stomach's a bit wonky from the IV drugs yesterday (it was like this last time too) so I'll be sticking close to home today. Hope all are well, and enjoy your Saturday! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" "I do not know. Another gloomy, rainy Saturday here. It's 54, just cool enough for the furnace to run.
We just saw "Expelled", a Ben Stein documetary about intelligent design. He makes a point to say it's not creationism (and it's not), you don't have to be regligious and the intelligent designer isn't necessarily God, unless that's your belief system. He interviews scientists who have lost their jobs in academia all because they believe in intelligent design. The specific universities the professors came from seemed to want to distance themselves from intelligent design as if it were something "bad." I highly recommend it. Megs, the pillow on your head in bed will protect you from anything falling off the wall. And we have a big, ole heavy picture hanging above our bed! That would've been a surprise if that had fallen on us! LauraSue - I love, love, LOVE Patrick Stewart! I think he's the reason I became a Trekker! I love the version of A Christmas Carol that he's in, I just love him! Have fun. |

We've got a fairly decent day, weather-wise, excepting when the wind kicks up. We did the whole errand thing this morning. The easiest was a jaunt to the library to pick up a book on hold and take a couple back. The other three involved Lowe's, which was way overheated, Wally*World, which was a zoo, and Costco, which wasn't much better. The worst part, though, was the driving from point A to B to C to etc., since I lost track of how many times we got stopped short in front of or cut off. We are glad to be home.

Gretchen, Yeah, two months gone. Lots of hot flashes waking me up at night and during the day. Wearing layers so can peel off as needed. No big problem with mood swings, thank goodness, since the migraine roller coaster is more than enough. Everybody, Patrick Stewart is the sexiest bald 60 something I've ever had the pleasure to watch! He is just electric as Macbeth. It was a fabulous production, the whole cast was superb. I'd forgotten that Byron Jannings plays King Duncan, and he's one of my favorite NY stage actors, another real smoothie. So yes, it was a blast, and yes I got a mig, but so far not too bad. Happy Saturday night, all! LauraSue. (I'm 54, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I left too early this morning to get on here. So I am just catching up. Let me add the Patrick Stewart is so sexy and LauraSue you are so lucky to see him in anything.
MJ I'm so happy to hear you got in and were able to have so quickly IV treatment and it's helped. It was a long day at the races. Rather cool this morning. Kept the kids fed and watered. DD did well. It's a lot of walking on concrete and frankly I'm sore. While I don't have a migraine my neck hurts. I need to see the massage therapist early in the week. I'm using heat and it helps, but it only helps so much. Take care everyone. Cindy |

The good news: my head is still doing pretty well, more than 24 hours after the IV. The pain is starting to creep back up, but still lower than it usually is this time of day. Yay!
The bad news: I've been having some unpleasant GI cramping all day. Worse than after my last IV. Not intolerable, but I'm ready for it to stop. The flat-out weird news: it snowed here today. Not enough to stick. We've been having seriously weird weather though - rain, sun, snow, rain again. It hailed yesterday, which I mostly missed in my drug-induced nap on the couch. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?"
