morning eveyone Group Hug

I know ive not been about a lot - its just that ive been really unwell the past 3 weeks, as has Barry! Barry was only in hospital overnight - he wasnt treated for swine flu - but htey said he probably had it! He had a little brain swelling and a really nasty chest infection too! He is ont he mend now, but not back to work yet!

As for me, last thursday I went to see my GP and felt well enough to be signed backt o work. But I woke up on the Friday morning feeling really ill, and after another trip to the doctor, I now have bronchitis! So i am not back to work yet either. Ive had tamiflu, and I now have an inhaler, and I am on my second set of antibiotics! Thumbs Down Now i have really sever stomach pains, and may well be back to the doc before the week ends!

It was my birthday yesterday - and i spent the day feeling lousy Crying on a good note though, my head has been great!

Today I have to go to Barrys mums (they on speaking terms now) as it is their anniversary. Then tonight, Chico starts his puppy classes! Really looking forward to it!

I feel a bit stressed, as Barry and I meant to be going to Wales for a long weekend on 16th October! As Barry has been off work, he doesnt get any pay (only about £40). He doesnt work for a big organisation with benefits like I do. So we dnt have a lot of money!

Laura - hope the neuro appointemnt went well!

Eileen - good luck with the catt training. Cats are so smart arent they? lol i laughed when u wrote that cat runs away when u open the door and meows from afar!

DebMomm - Nikoli sounds like he mjust enjoy the engineering programme! Thats fantastic - I dnt even think I could do something like that!

Kat - I have missed u! How are you? how is DBF - u spending much time with him??

Heather - Did that procedure hurt - I was in pain at the mere thought of it! I hope it helps!

Amy - If I only shaved my legs a few times a year - Id have vreated a new rain forest! lol how are you?

Sarah - sending positive vibes your way for the thanksgiving party!

Lynn - THats great u got the "mates rates" as I call it (freind discount). I hate it when decoarating work is being done - but love the result. hope u wont need the inhaer too much longer

alaura - Hope the head pain settles down for u, and u are taking it easy !

Meli - Having ppl staying with u is always difficult, never mind for around 6 weeks. But know what hunny - they have to take u as they find you! I know its a stressful thought that u may be sick a lot while they are there, perhaps asking DH to have a quiet work with them about how difficutl a time you are having right now? I hope it all goes well! thinking about you Flower

As for the shaving thing - with my daughter Rebekah, I am afraid to use razors - she cant do it herself (due to her disabilites) and often wont let me do it! So we use hair removal cream. U just put it on then after about 10 minutes, use the supplied spatula thingy to take it off!

Okay, ill check in later, take care all

gail xx

Good morning everyone-

Gail-It's SO good to have you back! I"m glad Barry is better and you too, but sorry you got bronchitis. That seems to be the way this swine flu mess is going-get the flu and when it's gone you get some kind of respiratory thing. That's what happened to me too and several of our patients as well. I'm still coughing and having a hard time breathing. Hope you're better soon!

I get help at work either today or tomorrow! YIPEE! The hospital never tells me when orientation is over. Sometimes it's 1 day and sometimes 2, so I MAY have my new girl today. I'm so glad to finally be getting someone.

DS#1 is better. He's going back to school today. I'm just glad it was sinuses only and not the flu or something.

Yesterday wasn't my day, but I'm keeping positive that today will be better. I took DH's head off when I got home because the new internet providers messed up and hadn't gotten us installed after he took time off work to meet them. Why can't people just do what they say they are going to do? You would think as many people as there are needing jobs right now, the ones that have them would at least TRY to do a good job! We have our old internet working this morning until things with the new one get straightened out. At least DH is taking care of it and I don't have to.

Gotta run and get everyone moving. Hope everyone is AWAP today!
Lynn

Gail- Wow! You've had a time of it. Group Hug and smooshes. Hope you feel better. Just to amuse you, I figure if my hairy legs look just like my hubby's and he doesn't care, I certainly don't either. Big Grin

Lynn- Whoopee on the new help!

It's morning.I've really got to get it in gear and get the kidddos ready for co-op. Gotta work tonight too (office hours).

Good morning,

Ugh, let me get this gripe out of the way...I slept awful, or more like I stayed awake. I was up from 2:00-4:30...what in the world? Okay, gripe over.

Neuro went great. We actually accomplised a lot this time around. I changed my triptan to Relpax and added Midrin to the mix too. He changed my rescue med and made sure I had enough to get me through a rough patch in case that arises again. He also gave me the name of the new Migraine doc in town. I'll be calling him today to see if he does IV therapy yet and if he takes my insurance.

Gail-Hooray, you're back! Ick on being sick yet again. You need a break already! Germ gods, leave Gail alone! I loved taking our dog Max to puppy school, it was so funny and we found out how smart he really is. Have fun at yours.

Lynn-Yea! The calvary will be there any day now. I know you're relieved!

Amy-I got the name of the doc and I think you've seen him already. I can't share just yet because of forum rules, but I want to say I've seen his name in one of your posts. He's on Independence in VB.

I don't remember who asked about Smooth Away, but it's a smooth pad that rubs the hair off without pain. We tried it on DH last night and it worked on him too. I can tell there will be more of them in our future.

Okay, I need to hop in the shower and wake up!

Take care!

It's a migraine morning, complete with nausea/vomiting. Good news is that the pain is manageable and I've already taken my abortive. Fingers Crossed

It's a rainy day, so the girls and I may just snuggle up with some princess videos and loads of blankets. The to-do list will have to be put on hold.

Gail, I hope you and DH are feeling better soon.

Lynn & Amy, best of luck for a good day.

Laura, Sorry to read of your sleepless night--so frustrating! Perhaps get a good book today, just in case tonight's a repeat you have something to look forward to.

Best of today to all,
Liz

Well Laura - I was awake from 2 to 4. I didn't know I had a middle of the night buddy last night. Roll Eyes

I can't figure out what is going on; I'm doing my good sleep hygiene. It's a mystery.

Clouds, rain, thunder this morning - another good sleeping in morning.

Gail, I'm so glad to see you. I'm glad Barry was only in for one night. I'm sorry you still are sick, but good for you for finding a bright side with your head!

Lynn, glad DS1 is better.

Amy, LOL at the hairy legs.

Laura, I asked about Smooth Away. I may have to try it.

So the 6 weeks is actually 8. DBf's parents are here through the end of November. Let's add a little more stress to my life. They brought their dog with them too. And boy did my allergies go nuts last night Frowner This is going to be a really long couple of months.

Have to call a doctor, any doctor, probably my PCP today. I refilled my prescription for my Treximet over the weekend and the pharmacist made a big deal about me not taking the Treximet and the Voltaren at the same time. Nice to know that now... too bad I've done that more than once already. So I stopped taking the Voltaren. I'd rather be able to take the Treximet if I need it. So I'm going to see if there's some other kind of anti-inflammatory I can take or if they can give me a different muscle relaxer. The Zanaflex messed me up too bad, and Eileen was right when she told me that taking the Skelaxin was like taking tic-tacs. So I need something in the middle. I'm really tired of medicines. I had a collection of them in the hallway closet, all the different things I've taken in the last year and a half. And I made sure to move them before DBF's parents got here. Definitely didn't need to have them see everything. There's like 15-20 different bottles of stuff.

Gail - sorry you're still not feeling great, and not back to work yet. Birthday Cake Happy Birthday, even though you spent it sick.

Lynn - good luck with your newbie!

Amy - good deal that your hubby doesn't care about your legs Big Grin

Laura - I'm sorry you had issues sleeping. Glad your neuro appointment went well, and I hope the new neuro in your area does IV treatments.

Liz - Group Hug hope your migraine goes away!

Deb - sorry you had a rough night sleeping too.

Well, back to work I guess....

Hi guys -

I read everybody's posts yesterday but was too tired to answer. I'm doing okay. Have to say I'm loving this nortriptyline. So far, can't tell if it's making a difference w/the Migraines, and it's too soon for that anyway, but it has quieted my anxiety way down and it's helping me sleep like crazy. I am having lots of vivid dreams like other folks have mentioned, but that's okay - it's like an adventure going to sleep! Better than tv. Appetite's up a little, but not like a problem, it's more like now I have some appetite after having none for a year.

Had a chat with Rach last night - we called her. She hasn't called once - well she never was much of a phone talker. She was kind of grumpy, but I think that's because it was late and she was writing an essay. She really perked up when she spoke to her brother, which was nice to see! We see her in a week and a half!

Gail good to see you - missed you! Sorry you and Barry have had such a rough time. Uggh this flu is nasty, isn't it? We're going for shots as soon as we can get them.

Lynn here's hoping your new girl shows up soon!

Amy I hardly ever shave in the winter, but when my legs are bare I do it. My husband doesn't care either.

Laura a friend of mine said all the Moms in her neighborhood stand at the schoolbus stop using the Smooth away in the morning (my kid would not be amused - but of course he's in High School and I don't go to the bus with him anyway).

Liz I hope you can beat that Migraine today.

Deb sorry about the sleep - hope tonight's better!

Meli I'm worried about you! Two jobs, constant Migraines, out-of-town guests for an extended stay, animal allergies too? Hon your stress list is off the charts. Please look for ways to make things easy on yourself. Don't worry about people seeing your meds for heaven's sake - let them accept you as you are - you have too much going on to have to hide things and pretend to be something you're not... just sayin!

Alaura - sorry the beast got to you today, but you have sounded a bit better - hope it continues!

- Megan

Oh, I meant to tell you all, on the smart-yet-annoying-cats vein, our Midnite managed to rip through one of the big screen panels on our front screen porch - the screen door had been ripped most of the summer and he got used to being able to use it as a cat door. Danny fixed it, and then Midnight worked loose one of the screen panels that was old and about to go. Danny fixed that, and so yesterday I discovered the dratted cat managed to totally rip one of the intact panels. He likes to be able to let himself onto the porch and meow at the door - not like there aren't 3 other doors to the house! Roll Eyes

Well, y'all, I'm still recovering from my exciting weekend:

First, our friend who has his sailboat tied up at our dock had a heart attack in our back yard Sat. afternoon. He's better, and even went back to work today.

Then, Sat. night, our workshop was robbed. It's a freestanding building in our back yard, between our house and the creek. DH was asleep in the family room, about 15 ft. away, when the robbery occurred. They took several battery-powered tools and batteries, & 2 rechargers - all under our deductible.

Then, when Sal used the car Sun., she left the windows down & sunroof open. Of course, it started raining Sun. night, & continued most of yesterday. (Sun's out now - will go open car up & try to dry it out.)

With everything else going on in my life, I'm as jumpy as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! Haven't triggered yet, though. Cool weather is nice.

To all who are hurting, Group Hug.

Lynn, glad you are finally getting your help!

To all hairy legs, Yes. (Anyone noticed how many men have naked calves?) Those Smooth Away things are basically very fine grit sandpaper.

May we all be AWAP.

Hi all!

I'm finally starting to feel caught up from a very busy morning at work!

Laura - all this talk about that Smooth Away is making me want to try it! Also considering it pretty much takes a "girl doctor" visit or a very special event requiring a dress for me to shave! I really hate doing it and seeing as I've nailed down my man already, he just has to deal with my stubble. lol Big Grin

Megs - that darn cat! LOL My two Abbys are ganging up on my old grandma kitty. She is like 18 years old, she is skinny, boney, and has arthritis - and they chase her around! Bad kitty! The Abby, Chloe, is the one with the midnight callings - she only did it early last night (that I know of) which is good. The other Abby, Darwin, does not meow unless seperated from mommy cat - really, it is too cute. He is almost 3 and he still cries when he can't find her!

Meli - have you tried Imitrex? I would think that the issues with the Voltaren and Treximet is because Treximet has naproxin in it (Aleve) so maybe if you can try a different triptan (I believe Treximet is the only one with an anti-inflammetory in it currently) you can keep the Voltaren. It's something to talk to your doctor about. Also, about the muscle relaxer - do you take them during the day or just at night? There are others out there that you may like better....Parafon Forte, Soma, there are many. I'm sure you will find one that you like. It took me a while too.

Dutchess - Glad to hear you are doing well on your first week of Topamax! I remember my first week or so - I would wake up out of a sound sleep with my heels tingling pins and needles. It passed after my body got used to the drug. Even now on Diamox I get tinglie in the mornings - more in my hands though.

Deb/Laura - hey, if I had known you two were up partying at 2 a.m. - I woulda hung out with you guys! Between 2 and 2:30 is my nightly wake up time....then sometimes earlier than that and also later. I pray for the nights of only waking up once! They are few and far between.

Alaura - what kind of injection did you get? Hope you get through the day pain free!!!

Alright ladies! The guys are back from lunch and asking me a zillion questions. I'll be back later!
