Good Morning Everyone,

I think we are all happy the weekend is upon us. I know I am.

Ok I'd like to be done with this cold, but the cold has not gotten the memo. Since it's still getting worse each day I think I'll end up going into the doctor today.

The house was so quiet with DS gone last night. He left with his baseballl team for a tourneyment on the North Coast. They will be back late Saturday. Just DD and I. She was in a good mood, took care of herself and it was very quiet around here.

Besides getting into the doctor I have to get some requirements out. The release schedule does not care if I'm sick. I'd ask one of the other analysts to do it, but they don't understand it. Oh well, job security?

Tracie how are you feeling this morning? Gretchen did you go shopping yesterday? Droolie how was dinner last night?

Take care everyone,

Cindy

Good morning Cindy (and everyone else out there!),

OK, cold! It's time to leave Cindy alone!! Devil Yep. It's probably time for you to see the doctor. A little anitbiotic goes a long way!!

It's funny to hear you talk about your work...My DH works in IT also. I always hear about requirements, code, queries--all that computer stuff. I don't understand much about it, but he seems to love it!

I'm doing pretty well this morning! My younger son has dinosaur day at preschool today, so I'm going to help out. They have lots of crafty, fun dinosaur-y acitivities planned! It should be a fun time.

I've decided that I need a vacation. Maybe just an overnight away or something...I've grown tired of all of this cold, rain, and gloom. Hawaii, here I come!! Big Grin (That'd sure be nice, wouldn't it? Wink)

Today it's cold and cloudy - 34 degrees.

I was helping Kath with an english paper yesterday - true to form, she left it for the last minute. I proof read it at 6 p.m. I love my daughter, but she can't write, which is hard for me to accept as a writer.

A lot of her stuff is passive and I've been trying to teach her the difference between active voice and passive voice since 7th grade. She just doesn't get it. I need to find a web site that explains it better.

This is an advanced English class and she's pulling a C-. She can't do things like wait till the last minute. Ok, she had an issue with working on the report at school and saving it to a memory stick in a version of Microsoft Publisher we don't have, but she fixed that; I don't know why she waited.

She's taking AP English next year - she could earn college credit. I got firm with her and told her if she thinks she's going to operate the same way next year as she is now, she might as well change her schedule and just get into regular English.

She's capable for most of the work she's doing; I kinda persuaded her to take the advanced courses because I could see me helping her with the papers, but I never thought she wouldn't learn from my guidance.

Dh told her last night she needs to listen to me, that I know what I'm talking about.

Other than that, things are just normal.

Cindy, I hope you start feeling better.

Hi all. Jumping in here for a quick second.

Here is an update on me. My sleep deprived EEG came back normal. Not really much of a surprise to me though. I don't get easy problems that show up in tests.

In other news med #12 is not doing me a lot of good so far. No side effects after 3 weeks I am only seeing a sketchy improvement - the migraines have been less intense, however there are now more of them Frowner

Haven't been on in a while. I know how you feel Cindy, I am up to my eyes in requirements these days. I hope you feel better.

Jenny - have fun at dinosaur day. That does sound fun.
The admin assistant in my office is from Hawaii. She is always complaining about the weather here.

Deb - good luck with your daughter and her English class. My brother is a lot like that. He is finding that harder to deal with in college.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hey, everybody!

I hope today is great!

Cindy -- it's unfair for a cold to go on this long. I think a quick trip to the doctor is a good idea; it may have morphed into a sinus infection or bronchitis. Have you ever had a shot of Decadron? It's a steroid, and it REALLY dries up the runny/snotty nose stuff. I always ask for it when I'm at the walk-in clinic with a sinus infection.

Jenny -- a weekend away sounds wonderful. I'd like to take mine in early September. It's still very hot here then.

Deb -- I've been through the last minute stuff, too. I like to get things done a day or two before the deadline, so I can proof it one more time when it's cold. I break it into doable parts, so I don't kill myself. DH is the exact opposite. I think he likes pulling all-nighters.

DS inherited from his father, not from me. I tried to teach him how to break a project into parts, but it fell on deaf ears. I was always rescuing him, helping him meet a deadline at the last minute. It was driving me crazy. So I fixed that, not by fixing him (a lost cause), but by fixing me. I decided that I wasn't going to rescue him any more. One night, in the 7th or 8th grade, I kissed him Good Night on the head at 10 o'clock and told him Good Luck. Then I went to bed. I hardly slept, but he got it done without me. And got a high B. From then on, projects were his alone.

I'm lucky that he writes well. But he hates math, so it's hard for him. But I leave him on his own for that, too. I'll proof a final draft for him, but that's about it.

Laurelin -- how wonderful that your EEG was normal. At least you're not dealing with a seizure disorder.

I went shopping yesterday. For 4 hours. I invested a lot of money, but I found a lot of cute things that will also be very versatile. I even found a dress, appropriate for weddings and parties. I don't have funeral clothes, so I've got to look for that. All the pants were size 16 from the misses department. Except the jeans, which were 16W from the Women's department. And all the tops were size Large.

Now I've got to find some jeweled flip-flops and other silly shoes to go with them. I still need a white top to wear with a pair of black gingham crops, and maybe a black one. But people will remember the pants, not the shirt, so maybe a white one will be enough. And maybe some silly earrings. I've got some very nice gold hoops, but they're not obnoxious enough. And some big turquoise earrings that I got in Santa Fe, but not earrings to go with every outfit.

I think my favorite is a pair of lime green and blue paisley pedal-pushers. If only my legs would tan... But with the red hair, I'd only freckle.

Way more information than you needed to know, but I'm SO excited. I even took a break after about two hours and had a diet Coke and a bowl of SF ice cream in the food court. Butter pecan, my favorite since chocolate became a trigger. I'm so pleased that I had the stamina and the attitude to shop. Now I have to decide what I'll wear today. Maybe the paisleys...

Happy TGIF to all!

Hey gang -

Well, it's my "day off." So far I got up at 6 for my business networking meeting Eeker (missed it last week with migraine so I didn't want to miss it again), ran to the chiropractor to get my hip adjusted, cleaned up the kitchen, moved on the laundry and now I'm spending some time hanging out with y'all. Drizzly and gray here but not too cold.

Laurelin good to see you, I've missed seeing you around. Good luck with med #12. Fingers Crossed In sales training they say every No brings you closer to a Yes, so I hope that's true for your meds, too!

Deb I can so relate! Rach is meticulous about her schoolwork, but there are plenty of other issues on which she just won't listen to me. I do remember how much smarter my parents got after I left home, so I'm banking on that happening in a few years. She's in 2 AP classes this year, masses of work, and my advice is not welcome. Roll Eyes When I keep my mouth shut, though, she does occasionally come to me to talk out an idea or critique her writing. Keeping my mouth shut has never been one of my strong suits, but I think I'm learning!

Jenny we had reptiles and amphibians day in 1st grade (x 2 kids) and they included dinosaurs in that. I baked big green apatosaurus cakes - after I did the 1st one for Rach I had to do another 4 years later for Adam - even though I'd prefer a sharp poke to making a shaped cake. After I finished the 2nd one my cousin shared the secret to attaching the pieces without crumbling the cake away, but I haven't been called on to test the theory since! Anyway, enjoy the day. I loved those special theme days with my kids in elementary school. Thumbs Up

Cindy lady you've gotta get better so you can enjoy your California springtime! Flower When we have a bad cold going around Danny makes ginger tonic - fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced and simmered for a few hours until it's strong and the liquid is golden brown - we drink it with lemon and honey and I really do think it boosts my immune system right up! Just a thought. I megadose vitamin C, too.

My excitement today includes grocery shopping. Adam says he wants to come help which is good because I can send him running all over the store for things and he can lift the bags. Did I mention I managed to lock up my hip joint yesterday? No idea how I did it. I could barely sleep for the pain and could barely hobble when I got out of bed this morning. The chiro gave me a good low back adjustment and then I sat in his massage chair and it feels much better, but I'm not supposed to lift much today. Gardening is out too, even if the weather clears. Frowner

Tomorrow and Sunday I'm in a course, 8:30 - 5:30 both days, and I'll have to leave the house by 7:30 to get there. Please cross your fingers Fingers Crossed for me doing it without major fatigue or migraines. Don't know if I'll make it around here much this weekend - I am excited about the course though.

Happy TGIF,

I am so glad it is Friday. Bill is coming home tonight. He has been working a three day. This weekend we plan to take Zach to the Zoo. Other then that "relax" is the mode for the weekend. Today, I have a few errands to run and then it's off to the pool with some friends. It is only suppose to be 75 degrees today, but Zach and his friends will enjoy the pool and it give my friends and I a chance to catch up.

Tracie & MJ-Hope you both are feeling better today Flower

Cindy-Sounds like it is time to go to the doctors. Feel better soon!

Jenny-Have fun at dinosaur day!!

Deb-I rememeber when the girls took AP courses, don't want to do that again LOL. Just kidding. I still help the girls now and again in their college classes. Some day they might realize I actually went to school and I am pretty smart, a mom can only hope LOL Wink

Laurelin- Glad to hear about your EEG. Sorry about med number 12!!
Are you going to try something new?

Gretchen-You make me want to go shopping Big Grin

Megs-Geez-Sorry about your hip!! At least you have Adam to run all over the store for you. Zach does that for me. I love it!!

Everyone else, Have a super Friday!!! I will check back in later

Good afternoon, everybody!

Since I don't work anymore, every day is a weekend day for me! DH still works tho, so that helps me keep track. If he's underfoot, it must be a weekend! Just kidding, I like it when he's around and even on the weekends he's usually out doing something part of the day. He works from home in the morning too, so he's only gone from noon to six or so.

He's down in Fla til Tues visiting his mom and I MISS him! I didn't sleep well last night without him. So fibro fatigue is pretty bad today. And it's rainy and gray. But I don't have anything on the schedule so I can just stay in bed all day if I want.

I actually practiced the piano yesterday for about 10 minutes. I haven't felt like doing that in ages. I'm going to try to practice every day while Andy's gone. Between the fibro and the migraines, it hasn't been as enjoyable lately as it usually is. But I've had to let so many things go due to my health, I don't want to give this up too. I'm hoping I can work it into my normal routine without paying too much of a price. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Fingers Crossed

I've played the piano since I was 5, so that's nearly 50 years. (Ohmigoodness, I can't be that old!) I play both classical and rock, Broadway musicals, too. It's a lot of fun when I'm feeling well enough. I used to say it kept me sane. I'm sane enough now, but still enjoy it.

Gretchen, sounds like you bought some great clothes. I'm so happy for you!

Everyone have a good day, okay? (Hey, ticker is at 1mo, 1wk, 1day!)

LauraSue.
(I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.)

Good Morning All--

Cindy--Your really need to get to the doctor. I think that's how I ended up with pneumonia.

I feel a bit better today, am at least not running a miserable fever so far today. And ain't revenge sometimes the greatest pleasure. I called Patient Affairs at Scott and White this morning and complained about not receiving even a rudimentary examination by the ER doctor (his name was on the discharge documents). I pointed out that I was willing to try his unique IV concoction right up until I started having my standard reglan psychosis. Then I just needed to get home and get myself sedated because I didn't trust him anymore!! And--since I had pneumonia and he never noticed, I had good reason for my lack of trust. I pointed out that my fever went up at 5 am and he'd seen me not 12 hours before, so he should have been able to pick up on it!

Laura--it's good to hear you were able to play the piano a little. That used to be one of my greatest pleasures. I haven't touched mine in years. The last time I played my bifocals made it impossible to read the music and see the keys at the same time.

Gretchen--how great to spend a day shopping. That was how I had planned to spend yesterday with my best friend. On Wednesday we figured the migraine would be gone by Thursday (assuming it stayed true to form which of course it didn't)

The Doctor called. I have really low potassium, so as if high dose Levaquin wasn't bad enough now I have to take those potassium horse pills. What am I saying---I don't have a horse that would consider taking them for me. And--the doc is fussing about me drinking more. Geez I thought I was drinking a lot.

Aren't we all just having fun mornings.

Deb I know longer help the kids with homework. If they need help, they get tutors and we pay. Piper does not have time for one anyone and usually doens't need one. She manages her time ok. She has 3 AP classes this year (bio, english, psycholoy), last year 2. They take so much time. Garrett will let me or Piper proof work, but she will not let us proof any of her stuff. It's very frustrating.

Gretchen what fun yesterday and how wonderful to reach such a great goal. The reward was well deserved. Kicky shoes and jewlery is fun since it can stay with you through the next round too.

Megs can that ginger root thing have say, gin added to it???? I slept poorly last night. While I know alcohol really doesn't help, it just sounds so relaxing for a "health cocktail"

Jenny my son still has these giant plastic dinasours (he's 16 and 6' 4") that he loved. And he learned his computer skills on a 3D Dinasour program!! Have fun today. Megs would love to see that cake.

I called the doctor promptly at 9 and they told me they could see me Monday. Ok. So my insurance has a 24/7 nurse advice line, called them. She said she would help me figure out if I needed to be seen or not and direct me to the correct type of care. Ok. So after a series of very appropriate questions (Tracie I think my over the phone interview was more comprehensive than your ER exam) she said I should be seen with 18 hours. I should call my doctor to be directed to an urgent care center. So I called back and now I have an appointment for today. I may have to wait a bit, but that's fine. I'll take my kniting.

LauraSue I hope you can continue playing a bit more every day. The piano seems to give you great pleasure.

Megs take it easy at your course this weekend. Maybe a cushin or something for the chair. They are always so wonderfully comfortable.

Laurelin 3 weeks isn't a long time for the med to kick in. A bit longer may be necessary. Glad the EEG is normal.

I really do need to try and work. I've got tea with honey and lemon in it. My country boys are playing in the background. The cats are keeping me company. I have no excuse.......

Take care everyone.

Morning all. I thought I would stop in here, though most of my update is with my post in the Support folder, if you haven't seen it there already. I'm hanging in there. I called out of work today, mostly as a "mental health day" (like my mom and I used to call it when I was in school), but as the day goes on my head pain is cranking up faster than usual. I'm about to take more Imitrex, fat lot of good it will do. Frowner

The radiology clinic called about a half hour ago to see if they could move my appointment earlier. I guess they got booked up with a lot of emergencies, so I'll be going about 45 minutes sooner than I would have, which is fine with me.

I'm going back to the couch with more drugs. I'll check in later. Hope all are well. TGIF indeed.

Oh oh, school called - Nikoli has "a headache and a fever," otherwise known as a migraine.

First one at school. The nurse didn't want to believe me that kids can run fevers with a migraine, but I convinced her. I walked into the nurses' office with a bucket and she laughed and said, "You know what comes next!"

He's on the couch with a bucket and an ibuprofen in him. I hope we caught it in time.
