Good morning -
I don't have my tea yet, trying to drink more water so I'm downing some now. I'm thanking Dr. King for his life and the great difference he made in our world, and also being thankful for another day off. Yesterday no headache but felt weak and shaky, rather down. Figured it was post-drome. Then towards evening started getting the green gunk out of my sinuses again - maybe the infection from last week never went away, and headaches & migraines were from pressure in sinuses? VERY cold here - 15 degrees now - wanted to get out of the house with Danny and have a walk - maybe window-shop in Lambertville (nice antiquey town nearby) but maybe too cold and not feeling well enough. Gack! Rachel's been sick, Adam bouncing off walls, Danny tired of taking care of everyone, cabin fever has set in! Hope you all are having better days! - Megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

Trying not to bounce off the walls. It's cold here again, and I don't want to go out. We also have like no food in the house, so meals are getting interesting.
had a bad HA yesterday- finally not a migraine- but just a headache. It was nice to just have it respond to advil for once! Time to get up and do something productive. |

I was expecting the furnace serviceman to arrive about now, for the furnace's routine service. The twice-a-year visit of the HVAC people always motivates me to de-clutter a little, so there's a clear path for them to walk to the thermostat and the furnace! But the company called and said the man would be late due to some no-heat calls. Imagine them giving that priority over my routine service when it's already over 20 degrees outside! (Just kidding
So I decided I'd take a break from my de-cluttering to check on the forum. After the man finishes, I'd like to go to the nursing home to see my father. Happy Martin Luther King Day, everyone. |

I'll be off the forum until Wednesday night or Thursday -- trip to Nashville to see Dr. Jan Brandes, my specialist. This is my first followup. I have a 3-day hole in my diary/calendar right after New Year's, but other than that, it's pretty well done.
We didn't realize DS had today off at college. He didn't come home Saturday because of the SNOW. They had a couple of inches. He showed up yesterday afternoon. We had abandoned our plans for a visit. We didn't have much time together yesterday. DH was out of town visiting a friend, and DS had dinner and party plans last night. He's sleeping now. He and his dad passed each other at the door. I only got about 20 minutes with him. Gotta go. A little time before I have to go to the airport, but I still have to shower and get dressed and put my mascara in my quart bag (what a pain!) and take the dog on a short walk. Sleet predicted for Nashville tomorrow, with highs around or below 40. Still debating whether to take my heavy coat that I bought in Chicago, or my light jacket. I won't have to be outside much, and on the sleet day, I can arrange not to be outside at all. The heavy coat will be a pain to drag through the airport, so I think I'll go with the lighter jacket and be cold on the way to dinner. A good thing -- the heavy coat is a 14, and I fit in it just fine! See you in a couple of days! I hope they're good ones for everybody! Gretchen in Mississippi |

Good morning everyone! I'm stuck at work today because MLK and Presidents' Day are "flex" holidays at my firm, meaning we can pick which one to take as a holiday (but not both). DBF and I are taking off Pres Day next month to go on a mini-vacation to Olympic National Park. Last year we went to San Antonio. Pres Day falls conveniently between Valentine's Day and our anniversary, so it's a perfect time to take a little vacation.
It's chilly here this morning (30s) but sunny. We're supposed to have sunny skies the next few days. I actually had to dig out my dark pair of sunglasses. It's nice to see the sun, though. I was stuck with bad migraines both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's I took care of with one dose of Imitrex + ibuprofen (that combo is key for me). Sunday I treated with ice, no drugs. The ice mostly resolved it. We didn't get to Ikea or Costco yesterday like we planned, but we did get to Staples so I could buy some binders to file all my health paperwork from last year. Today's pain is about a 2, so I can live with that. Megs, sorry to hear the martian snot has returned. And I hear you on the cabin fever! I was feeling it this weekend since I spent so much time on the couch. Jamie, glad to hear that your HA yesterday was resolved with Advil. Must be a nice change, right? If you have to have head pain, at least it was easier to take care of. Nut, that is absolutely ridiculous that the furnace guy is making you wait! Haha, just kidding. Gretchen, I'm sending you lots of good thoughts so your visit with Dr Brandes goes well! Let us know about it when you get back. Tawsha, glad that your head pain isn't too bad this morning, but not glad that you're dizzy. Being dizzy sometimes makes me feel so much sicker than if there was just the pain. Eileen, I'm hoping Hope everyone is having a good Monday! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ “HOPE CAN GROW FROM THE SOIL OF ILLNESS!” This is the theme of 2008’s National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week in September. I'm just sitting here happy to have the day off, since it's snowy and cold and I'm content staying put at home. I should venture out and take a book back to the library, since it's due tomorrow, but I might just take it back on the way to tomorrow's endo appointment. Snow and cold and staying put are quickly winning. It was below zero when I got up this morning. Around 9:30 it was a whoppin' one degree above.
Today's "project" is typing up my med totals for the year so that I can fill out my tax worksheet thingie for our accountant. Then I'll be ready to roll with that stuff and can sit back and wait for our tax appointment and ultimately my refund. Other than that and the forum, I'll probably grab some reading time. Maybe some poppit. Gretchen ~ good luck with your appointment! Megan ~ hope you can banish the Martian Snot Goo quickly. That really bites when it hangs in there and tries to rebound on a person. Well, believe it or not I'm on my feet. Sinuses a little achy and slight martian presence in the throat, but not dizzy or weak. This is good news, so far
Droolie & Eileen stay warm! MJ glad you're out & the pain is low - sorry you had to go to work! Tawsha glad you're somewhat better too, and hope your son feels better. (Rachel gets migraines too, I THINK but is 17 so won't give me any details.) Jamie congrats on getting rid of the HA. Gretchen have a great trip - we'll miss you! Nut hope that serviceman is in & out quick - guess you'll get more straightening done than you thought! LOL Cleaned up the kitchen - when I'm sick D makes lots of lovely food but the clean-up gets way behind - if it was me I'd be eating out of cans and the freezer but have a clean kitchen when I was done! Oh well. Can't complain the meals have been great. Rachel apparently well enough to go to a movie and then a study session with friends - I took her - out and about in the car for an hour. Bright sun but nice to be out. Going to get the xmas tree out (Gretchen just want you to know you're not the latest - by a long shot!), we have a 3:00 tutoring appointment for Adam so I'm hoping maybe we can get in a mall walk or something - just to be out together! I'll check in this evening. - megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

I live just south of Birmingham Alabama and this is always a day that the schools prepare for here since Dr. King pastored a church here once. The Civil Rights Institute is here and all schools have field trips to visit it every year. I'm proud of us. We've come a long, long way.
One year when my older daughter was in grade school, she came home and her only homework was to ask, "Mom, what did you learn from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?" I told her I learned from him that the key to changing society is to change the unjust laws. I hold that in my mind whenever I write to Congress, and I thought about it when I signed up for Teri' Initiative. Good day for us here in Birmingham. And no migraine attack today! http://sparklingwithcrystals.blogspot.com/ basilar-artery migraine, MAV, BPPV, migraine with and without aura, cluster headaches, but no tension headaches! W00t! |

Good afternoon/evening everyone. I can't believe how fast this day has passed.
I took my DS to the dentist first thing this morning, not the best of "family" times. LOL We were there for two hours and he still has to go back. Poor kid. When I got home I had a message from Dr. K about my lab results so I should be hearing from him tonight or tommorrow. Then, I got a call from my friend, her daughter is in the ER. She is doing fine now but had a high fever so I took her boys to my house so they wouldn't be so bored at the hospital. She has fantastic and loving kids. They are still here and just chilling out with my kids. Megs-I'm glad you are up and around, just don't overdo it to much! Dar-Hopefully you were able to get some rest after yesterday's migraine. Hope you are feeling better. Jamie-Don't you hate when the food starts to just *poof* go away. All of a sudden you start making the oddest meals and enjoy them because it is all you have. I find myself being quite creative LOL. Nut-I am like you. I find I get motivated to organize when someone comes over, serviceman, friends...always a good reason, at least for me. Gretchen-Even though you may not see this, good luck at the doc's!! Eileen-I hope your new doc is better than your last one!! Good luck tomorrow! Tawsha-Here's to a zero on the pain scale tomorrow!! MJ-That stinks you migrained over the weekend, what a terrible way to spend your days off! Droolie-Ok, you got me. What is "poppit"? Happy MLK day to everyone!
I had the day off of work, but went into the office for a couple of hours. Mikayla was invited to have lunch with the 1st African American astronaut to do a space walk (Dr. Bernard Harris). Since the lunch was at my place of employment, I was able to get caught up on some things while she lunched. I was so happy to see the Packers lose yesterday and the Patriots win. I'm a HUGE Randy Moss fan. Been lucky enough to meet him several times while he was with Minnesota. Hope everyone had a great day. I've got clean sheets on my bed and am fresh from the shower...time to go crawl in and relax Jodi |

I'm back tonight after a week off due to my mom being in the hospital and having some serious surgery.
The kids had the day off - I love days off. We had planned to have lunch with dh but he got slammed at work. Kath wasn't too happy - I took them to lunch but it wasn't quite the same. I had to delay my new sleep routine until dh went to the sleep clinic; he's been snoring with a cpap machine. So I start Friday night. Wish me luck. Deb [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] |
