Happy Monday!

Yea for the Yankees! My FIL will be thrilled. I don't know about the Giants yet, I went to bed at half time because I had to get up so early for DH's briefing. They are allowing spouses to attend the first day since they talk about stuff that will effect us once he retires from the military. Anyway, I taped the rest of the game and plan on staying away from all media outlets until I've watched it. So, in my brain, we're stilling winning 14-7 LOL

Saturday was great. My Migraine stayed low grade and I got so much done! I went foodshopping, came home and did Halloween decorations with the two of the kids, had a great idea for a prop in the front yard and ran out and got stuff for that, and finally went to get pumpkins with DS#2. We ended up having to take a hay ride to get out to the field so that was a cool surprise. The weather stayed warm all day and the rain didn't hit until midnight. Yea!

Yesterday the Migraine finally arrived so I just laid low and watched football with DH.

Okay, DH is saying we need to get on the road to fight the traffic. Ugh!

Have a great one everybody!

Morning everyone!
It sounds like most of us had busy weekends. Mine was no different.

I WAY over did it on Friday-vacuumed, cleaned baths and then got really stupid and dusted-including the drywall dust from all of the construction. I ended up with a major asthma attack. I still hadn't fully recovered on Sat. so it was inhaler every 6 hours and lay low. I did get some things done like rehanging pictures etc., but that was it. Even that was too much and had another major attack Sat. night. It was bad enough I had DH wake me at midnight so I could use my inhaler and not miss the does I normally do during the night.

I felt better yesterday and didn't have any problems. I ended up running errands and then took everyone to get haircuts, did laundry, packed lunches and cooked a roast for dinner tonight. At least that let me stay in bed until 5 this morning because supper was done. I'm tired today, but feeling better.

The new inhaler has started giving me head pain for about an hour after I use it, but so far, it resolves itself, so I can live with that. I'll be glad to be done with prednisone so I can get flu shots! The last thing I want is another round of flu. We will have 6 extra doses once our staff gets H1N1 so I plan to see if dr./boss will let me use 2 for the boys. At least I won't have to worry about that.

I HOPE this Thurs. will be my last long day. My newbie is doing well enough I plan on leaving her alone Wed. and Thurs afternoon to see if she can handle it. If so, I'll be done with extra long days. YIPEE!

Laura-I hope DH's cough is better and your meeting goes well today.

Alura-congrats on being able to relax some. I'm holding onto that thought for me before long. I hope you are better today. It's so frustrating trying to wait and see if one thing or another is going to help only to find it doesn't and we have to start over again. Hang in there and it will get better.

Dar-We've missed you! Sorry you've been sick and having migmon problems. I hope you're better now.

Meg-I'm glad you're feeling better from your trip, but sorry you got hit yesterday. I hope you're better today.

Gail-I'm so glad you're feeling better! You have had more than your share lately!

MJ-I'm sorry DF didn't get the job. Things are so tough right now!

Eileen-I'm sorry the icy hot got you going. It's so tough to try and help one pain and end up causing another. Hang in there and I hope you're better today.

Hoopsky-I hope you can feel better soon. There is nothing worse than being exhausted all of the time.

Gotta run and get the guys going. Group Hug Heart to everyone today. It sounds like we can all use it.
Lynn

I sure hope y'all are ready for a good laugh at my expense, 'cause y'all are about to get one!

Last Friday, I was taking Sal to a clinic for some labwork. (Teri, the issue is resolved.) I was driving Mary's car. Got pulled by Charleston police for expired (West Virginia) license plate.

OK. The cops ran my driver's license. Now things get reeally odd. I get patted down, handcuffed, & hauled to the county line. Sal gets the car, my purse & my cell phone.

I'm turned over to a Dorchester County sheriff's deputy, & taken to the Summerville Annex of the Dorchester County Jail. I've been arrested for 3 bad checks from 1999 and 2000!

Yes, my friends, I'm now Inmate # 442540! I was one of 3 women who was realeased Fri on personal recognizance for bad checks. Mine totalled about $120. Ida's totalled about $90. Mrs. Jenkins' one check was $30.

The magistrate told DH she had prosecuted one man who was handcuffed & hauled off in front of his small children, and one woman for $9!

I'm going to make good on the checks today, then go to NC to help Mary out. She's in a real pickle with her current job. Yes, I'll drive her car. She has the title. I'll spend part of tomorrow at a NC DMV getting a new title & paying taxes & tags, etc.

Oh, Dorchester Jail is going to mail Ida the 23 cents she had in her pocket and me the 40 cents I had in my pocket.

Morning All!

I had a nice weekend out on LI. Saw the family, got a haircut, got a massage from my little sister, and did some shopping. Lots of fun.

Of course, I obviously totally over did it b/c my head is not a happy camper this morning. I have that wierd swelling ouch in my left temple. Still in denial, but I'm pretty sure this is going to turn into a migmon on me. Frowner Oh well.

My back pain is basically gone, thanks to little sis. It has been getting better, but I think the massage did it. I just bent over and touched my toes. I haven't been able to touch my toes since April when I first herniated the disc. I'm not counting my chickens b/c I'm sure the disc could pop back out at any minute. But I'll take my back pain free morning!

And, my memory foam mattress is being delivered today Big Grin It's 10:30 and I'm so psyched to go to bed tonight! LOL.

Laura: I'm glad you were able to get so much done on Saturday, and I hope your migmon is all gone this morning.

Lynn: Thumbs Up for new girl! I'm sorry to hear you are having such difficulty with your asthma Frowner I hope you can find some releif. And something to help you get that yucky inhaler taste out of your mouth.

Rebecca: ROTFL. That is crazy! What kills me is I'm sure the amount of money spent to incarcerate and arraign you was way more than $120!!! You have a super story for cocktail parties tho!

I'm going to go poke around the rest of the folders. See whats up. I probably won't make it back today, so be AWAP everyone!

Hi everyone,
I'm working from home today. I had a good day Saturday and was able to get a lot of things done around the house. Then I woke up with a migraine yesterday. I took some Maxalt and then fell asleep, which helped the migraine, but gave me insomnia last night. I think I only got a few hours sleep last night. My sleep has been different since getting off the Topamax. That used to put me to sleep every night. Now I'm trying Lamictal, and it really doesn't make me sleepy. I was able to sleep in a little this morning since I don't have a lot of work to do today. The migraine is better today, but I still have some head pain and I'm trying to decide if I should take another Maxalt.

Lynn- I don't know how you do what you do! Take it easy today and I'm glad your new person is working out for you at work.

Rebecca- That whole situation you went through sounds crazy to me! It seems like there should have been a better way to handle the checks.

Kelly- Thumbs Up that you're getting a break from your back pain! The new mattress sounds wonderful too. It makes all the difference getting a good night's sleep in comfort.

Yep, Monday is here again.

Yay for the Yankees though! DH is so excited. So much so, that he kept me up most of the night. Between that and the cat - I am hardly awake today.

So I did a lot of cooking this weekend....chili and soup, plus, I bought stuff to make a roast and also corned beef! I know Kelly will be excited to hear about the corned beef! We Irish girls love our carbs and high fat meat! LOL

I am starting to think I may have Fibromyalgia. I have had nonstop aches in what feels like the bones/muscles in my hands, wrists and my neck and across my shoulderd, down to the middle of my back. Everything feels like it hurts. I have quite a few of the symptoms, so I'm going to be asking the dr. in a few weeks and see what she thinks. This just kinda started and has not let up. Nothing seems to help.

Anyway, enough whining from me!

Kel - yay to the new bed! So exciting!

Peggy - Thumbs Up on being able to work from home! I so wish I could! Even if I had to forward the calls to my cell...it would be so very worth it!

Rebecca!!! OMG! I cannot believe that! Oh, wait, yes I can! I used to have all sorts of problems with Charleston cops....I got pulled over once for who I associated with 6 months prior, because of his bad habits and because my car looks sort of like his new girlfriends. I was pulling out of the apartment complex where she lived, got pulled over, asked to step out of the car, searched...it was nuts! I am glad you are ok!

Lynn - hope this week goes quick for you and this is your last long week!! Fingers Crossed

Laura - sorry, I didn't keep track of the Giants due to the Yankees, either way - go NY! (which I will never understand since the Giants play in NJ! They just don't want to be from NJ! lOL)

Well, back to the grind!

Afternoon, all.

I'm still waiting to hear about the latest blood results from my doctor. Meanwhile, the pain is getting worse. There is definitely something up with my digestive system. I can barely eat or drink without have additional pain. I'm so worn out by all of this. I did talk to the nurse on Friday. She said that the blood test my doctor ordered this last go around are more extensive and will take a little longer to get the results.

I think I'm going to call doctor's office this afternoon if I don't hear back from them soon to let them know that I'm hurting more.

That's all I have to report. It's really a sad life at this moment. I see my pain management doctor tomorrow. I guess I'll speak to him about this issue even though that's not why I see him.

Hope all have a good Monday.

Hey everybody -

It appears Adam's got the flu. Frowner I've been up & working today and still feeling rather under the weather - now my head's starting to hurt. Never a dull moment... I am trying to take care of my boy without getting sick again myself - neat trick.

Rebecca that makes quite a story, but it must have been scary when it happened!

Laura I was watching the Yankees game last night, but didn't see the end (too late) - my family is thrilled too!

Lynn I don't know, you're idea of taking it easy looks a lot like my idea of getting a lot done... cut yourself some slack, girl!

Kel yay for little sister's magic hands!

Peggy hope you can get a break form pain today!

Dar good luck fighting off the beast - I'm probably in denial with you...

See y'all.

Hi all,

Just have a sec. The boys went back to school after our bout with the flu, but I'm still worried about them! I know I'm still feeling extremely tired and sick to my stomach--I think they probably are, too. It's hard being a Mom and making the "do I send them to school?" decision. Sometimes I'm not sure I've done the right thing! I especially worry about DS9 (asthma), but his doc said he'd be OK to go, unless he seems to be worsening (stronger cough, return of fever, etc.). I'll feel better when they're back home!

Megs, I sure hope Adam doesn't have the flu! Ours started with a dry, painful cough and became a low-grade fever quickly. Then the stuffy nose, aches, etc. followed. Hugs!

Rebecca, EEK! What a crazy experience!! I sure am glad they sent back your pennies, though...

Heather, I'll be thinking of you today! I sure hope your doc figures out what's happening with you.

Eileen, I hope it's not Fibro! But I guess at least you'd know what was causing all of your symptoms then...

Oops--I've got to run to the school to get the boys. I'll check back in later if I have a moment!

Rebecca - EEK! You'd think the police had better things to do with their time. Roll Eyes

I've been taking Skelaxin at bedtime the past few nights. I'm thinking it helps makes sure I get at least a couple of hours of deep sleep. I still wake up a batch of times but not for 2-4 hrs of my usual staring at the ceiling. Only one not too awful migraine since I started. Maybe this is the preventive for me??

On the flipside, I have to figure out what to do about the idea that I have high blood pressure (that only shows up when I'm in the neuro's office) Any other time, it's borderline or normal. I think it's the whole white coat syndrome thing, but how do I prove it? The neuro wants me to talk to my GP's office. The gp's office won't touch me with a 10 ft pole because my drug allergoes are so bad.

Hey Amy - prove what your BP is away from the white coats by getting a cuff and keeping a diary - take your BP on waking, while working, after exercise, various times to get a norm and keep recording it for a week or so. When I had a couple of high-ish readings in the drs office, they asked me to do that to see what my pattern is - it's a much better gauge of what's going on than an isolated reading.

Good Evening,

I'm watching my dogs try and settle their "territory over a bone and toys. It's so funny to hear one of them growl. It means so little!!

It's been ages since I've posted. Not really sure why as I read every day. But I'm trying to correct the error of my ways so to speak.

DH is out of town until sometime next week. He is a union health and safety officer for an oil refinery. The refineries close down production units each year for prevenative maintance. When this happens they work around the clock 7 days a week to get the unit back up and running. So he went to another refinery to help out. They always need extra help during the turn arounds.

It's been very quiet here. For the most part I have enjoyed it. The kids are both off at school. I've had some stuff to do, but also alot of time to myself. I'm trying to work on my sleep pattern. It's bad. And it's not helping my head.

Gail please remember that no matter how sweet and cute your Chico is, he needs to have boundaries and reconzie you as the boss. He will be alot more fun if he behaves for you.

Lynn I have to agree with Megs, your idea of relaxing is what I'm lucky to get done in a day. I had two quotes I wanted to share with you:

quote:
"I did nothing. And it was all I hoped it could be".

Tao De Ching
quote:
By doing nothing, everything is done!

Your health is more important than a clean house. If your DH wants the stuff done right now, he can do it or it will be there when you get well. Please Lynn you've got to get off this roller coster you are on.

Laura how did your briefing go on retirement? Well I hope.

My word Rebecca I cannot believe what happened to you. It sounds like they thought you were armed and dangerous (ice tea at 50 paces). How truly biazzare. You know you can't even get a cup of coffee with that 40 cents!!

Kat, I'm doing a happy dance for you and your sister's work on your back. How often can she come visit you or you visit her? Your weekend sounds lovely in general.

Peggy I'm glad you are able to work from home. You've been so busy the break must be nice. Like my boss said "Enjoy it while you can". He's always right too.

Dar I would think you would avoid that river in Egypt (denial). I think you need to make different travel plans. I'm shocked you found pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. I would have thought you'd come home with hay bails or corn stalks.

Eileen your cooking over the weekend sounds tasty. I thought of making chili, but being here alone, it sounded like alot of work!!

Heather did you get your test results? How awful you are in such pain. I do hope relief is found for you soon. You've been through so much

Oh Megs I'm so sorry Adam has the flu. It's misserable. Please don't let him go back to school too soon. Piper's kinda acted like it was gone and then came back within 48 hours. I do hope no one else gets it.

Jenny I'm sure the doctor would not have had the boys go back to school unless they were ready, especially with the asthma as a complication. My sister has asthma and is very upset she can't have the vaccine, she also has diabetes. And even though she is a nurse in a public health clinic, she can't have one. Get them to bed a bit early.

Amy it sounds like you need a new GP if they don't want to work with non-migraine issues. At my old neuro's office my BP was always high. It was never high at my PCPC's office. Get one of those home things or test it a few times at a pharmacy that has the BP machine. It might be fine.

I'm leaving this weekend to visit my sisters in Medford, OR. This is the first time in ages we have met without husbands or children with us. Should be fun and interesting. We are also having dinner with a long time family friend we've not seen for ages. All three of us were in her wedding in 1967!! I think the last time I saw her was at Daddy's funeral 14 years ago. I will say I wasn't in a very chatty mood that day.

Well I will sign off for now. I'll try and be better about hanging out with everyone.

Cindy
