Hi y'all -
(My Dad was born in Alabama so I'm entitled to say y'all once in while!) Maybe some of you are up and out and fast moving and so the thread title may not seem right, but I thought, 10 a.m. EST and no-body's posted yet - I'd call it slow-moving! I'm in bed - I think yesterday's migraine isn't gone yet. (Just posted about that under questions.) Pain isn't bad - maybe 1.5 - 2. But I didn't sleep too well and had a huge flock of starlings tweeting in all the tall trees around the house - hundreds, thousands - at 7 a.m. when I wanted to sleep some more. Reminded me of Hitchcock's The Birds. Was supposed to take Adam this a.m. for an educational skills assessment at a tutoring place that specializes in ADHD & learning disabilities - so Danny took him instead - but I got them both up - ran around and looked for the papers they needed, made coffee and started a dishwasher load. I guess I can take some down time. Probably shouldn't even be on the computer but I'm so bored and tired of my head hurting, it just distracts me to talk to you. Hope you're well and enjoying your Saturdays. I'm going to try to enjoy mine, too, whether upright or down. - Megs |

Hi Megs! I'm up too!
Been up since DH got up for work this am at 6am CT. Yikes. I didn't sleep well last night either with my NDPH bothering me. Been on computer all morning. Forum time sure does make the time go by fast! But I've been in bed the whole time with my lap-top, so it's been a slow morning for me too. Not sure what today will bring. I'm hoping to attempt to meet with a small group of friends this afternoon to discuss a weekly podcast we listen to by Mars Hill. They only meet like 5 minutes away, so it is a short drive for me. So I'm hoping my head improves. DH is home tomorrow. I'm really excited. If my head allows, we're going to Home Depot to use a gift card we got for Christmas. The lamp on my side of the bed has been broken for ages and so has one in our living room. I can't wait not only get new ones, but get out of the house. Yea! Have a great weekend Y'all! Guess what? I feel well!11
I woke up at about 5am, couldn't sleep anymore- been sleeping for the past couple of days... Watched some episodes of a TV show DVD set that we got for christmas Dreaded finding clothing to take with me tomorrow- business stuff- as I've gained weight, and nothing would fit, I thought. Well, my mom had left a pair of pants here when she was down for a vacation- and they're dressy enough that I can get away with wearing them 2 out of the 4 days. I have a skirt with an elastic waistband for another couple of the days, and lots of blazers. So I don't need to go shopping! (Had no money to do so, so this was going to be a Thrift store experience!) Huzzzah! No need to go to the thrift store, although I do need to do another load of laundry! I don't like the shoes I'm taking- I always roll an ankle in them. But, they work with what I'm wearing, so, c'est la vie...unless there's something cheap at payless. I feel proud of myself for being packed before the minute before I have to leave- I have a whole day to go "Oh, crud, I forgot that!" |

Ugh Jamie I feel your pain all the way around. I have no $ for cloths, don't want to spend money on "corperate wear", need shoes, and of course the only time I see things that I actually like for myself, is during christmas when I shouldn't be buying things for myself! LOL
I'm sure you'll be fine. Good going on the packing! I am a last min. packer, but I also am a list maker too. Today is going well. Went to the pound, came home and cleaned the house and now doing laundry! Yippee! I know exciting right! Probably watch a movie later...not sure what yet. Other then that, just chillin with DH and my kitty cats! Hope everyone has a good one! Hi yunz guys! (That's Pittsburgh-ese...)
Jamie, I sure am glad to hear you're feeling better! And no shopping needed--WOO HOO! I hope the conference will be terrific and you won't forget a thing!! You guys and your birds--that gave me a good laugh! We have a hawk that lives in a tree nearby. He makes quite a stir on his own when he feels like hollering...but I'm sure it's nowhere near what a whole flock would do!! Megs, I hope the new tutoring program will be really helpful to Adam! Learning is tough enough without ADHD to complicate things! Kelly, I hope you feel well enough to meet with your friends this afternoon! And momsbreak, sending out happy thoughts that you start feeling better right away, too!! Hey, Eileen! You snuck in there, too! I'm glad you're enjoying your Saturday. Why don't you stop at my house and do a few loads of laundry while you're at it...I can't even open the laundry room door at this point! (LOL) It's a rather dull Saturday here. It's nice to have the whole family here to spend the day together, though! DH and my older son are planning to make his Pinewood Derby car for Cub Scouts today. My son has it all planned out...He's very particular about stuff like this! (Actually, I'm glad DH will be doing the sawing, cause I ALWAYS end up messing up stuff like that!) Have a happy Saturday, everyone! |

Hey yous guys! (Born and raised in NJ before I moved out west.
My Saturday has started well. I got up at 9:15, which is much earlier than I have been waking up on weekends, and only an hour later than I get up during the week. I'm trying to get back to good sleep habits, especially on weekends. DBF made us some yummy gluten-free pancakes with some dark chocolate chips. One of my favorite breakfasts. Today I'm going to try to get to the downtown mall. I'm out of my face wipes, and have a few other errands there I need to do. They're fun errands, though, so I don't mind doing them. If the weather holds out, I may walk there instead of driving. We'll see how I feel. Other than that, I want to finish knitting DBF's scarf this weekend so I can start my next knitting project. Tomorrow, DBF and I are taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island to go to a great little cafe for brunch. They make some delicious fish & chips (which is mostly in my eating plan) so I'm looking forward to that. It's been a tough week, so I could use a treat! My pain level today is the low end of normal, which is great. I took some Imitrex + ibuprofen last night, and it did the trick. I'm still getting some side effects with the Imitrex, but it works pretty well so I'll give it a few more tries. Hope everyone has a pain free, or at least low pain, day! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine? Why is is that birds all insist on being chirpy at once, especially at o' dark thirty when it's not time to get up? Speaking of Hitchcock's The Birds, which I watched again last fall, I've read that they're in the process of doing a remake. I don't get this. That's one of those movies that they should Just Plain Leave Alone. They shouldn't have updated Psycho, either, a few years ago, either. That was pretty bad.
I'm okay today. I've got some minutes to type up sometime this weekend, and questions to take to the blood doc on Monday to compile from my "scribble" sheet. Other than that, not much is going on. We walked a few blocks to a cousin's house to go to her Silpada jewelry open house thingie, and I'm a bit wiped from the walk, but it's really pretty decent weather-wise here for January, so it was nice to get some air. I'm going to crash with my book later this afternoon and try not to nod off. We came back home to find that my car is still doing the intermittent whirring fan trick, so it goes back in for a look-see on Monday. We also got news that my great uncle Henry died last night. I'm not sure what from. We hadn't seen him in a long while. There was supposed to have been a 90th birthday party for Aunt Viola today, but they cancelled it earlier in the week because he wasn't doing well. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

Well, at least somebody else posted after noon.
I'm doing pretty well on my Good Sleep Hygiene. I'm setting the alarm for 7:30 on the weekends instead of 6:30. The weather is pretty -- 62 and sunny, but my head isn't. The dog took me for my short walk, but I don't think I'm going to take my solo walk. It probably would help my head, but I'm not sure I've got the energy to talk myself into doing it. I need to. I've messed two days this week, and my resolution was for 5 or 6 days a week. It turns out that Sparky has a rip-roaring bladder infection. That explains the shivering and the wee-weeing on the carpet. They gave him an antibiotic shot yesterday, and we started pills today. He's already feeling better. Much more comfortable, and no shivering. He slept through the night and didn't get me up at 3am to go outside. My head has been fluctuating between 4 and 6 all day, no matter what I throw at it. I'm going to take my Hycodan (rescue) and see what that does. Tomorrow is the 25th Anniversary Jubilee at our church. They're calling us Founding Members. We weren't involved in actually organizing the parish (Catholic), but we were there at the first Mass, in the banquet room of the Country Charm Fish House. BOTH bishops will be at 10#30 Mass tomorrow, and we're supposed to sit in a special section. The Knights of Columbus are doing lunch afterwards, and those guys can COOK. Wish us luck. Bishop Latino, the current bishop, isn't that long-winded, but if Bishop Houck, the retired bishop, starts up, I'll be hungry before we're through. He's a great guy, but is hard to stop once he gets cranked up. I hope the rest of everyone's day is great and that tomorrow is wonderful. Gretchen in Mississippi |

Droolie I'm with you on the Birds remake - there are plenty of movies they should just leave alone! Also been meaning to say - I love that you say Hrududu - never saw that outside of Watership Down.
I got clear this was still the same mig after having a run-in with Rachel this afternoon - she is so grouchy and rude lately - I told her to shape up - all right, I yelled. And the head pounding started. So I gave in and took a second imitrex and lay down and now I'm way better. Watched a movie and laughed. And wouldn't you know R shows up all friendly before going out to work... teens! I know, I was one myself. I took my anger out on myself instead of my parents at the time so I'm guessing her way is healthier. Unpleasant, tho. Swallow the nasty medicine, it's good for you... Gretchen hope your church jubilee goes well and you enjoy it! Just wanted to say hi again. Really feeling halfway human at last. - Megs |

I am going to make the rounds yet again! I just can't keep myself away! hehe
I just had to say that I DID make it to my meeting with my small group of friends and that I also made it to church after, which I didn't think I would be able to do at all!!!! So, happy dance! My headache is elevated now, but I don't care. It was soooo nice to see my friends and hold DH's hand on the way out to the car after church. I can only be in the sanctuary during the sermon (I wear ear plugs) b/c the music is too loud, but it was SO nice to be there. So, horray! I got up at 6 A.M., ate breakfast, and took a quick look at the forum. Then headed off to my monthly volunteer work, 60 miles across state lines. As I was leaving there, and turned on my cell phone, I discovered a message on the cell phone. A friend wanted to go with me to see "The Kite Runner" movie this afternoon. So I called her back and arranged to meet her at the theater--I figured I could just get there in time for the movie.
Of course, I had loved the book. And the movie stayed quite close to the book, and was very powerful. So I'm glad I saw it. Then I came home and got on the forum again. |

Hi gals,
I am currently at work. Things are rather quiet at the beginning of the year because everyone is broke, so it's nice. My husband left around 9:30 this morning to help his aunt move. Since I work at night, I stayed home in bed. Wouldn't you know it, no sooner had he left than someone knocked at the door...and kept knocking. I thought maybe DH had left his phone or keys in the house and locked himself out, so I stumbled out of bed, put on some mistmatched clothes (backwards!) and trotted off to answer the door. I opened it maybe 5 inches, and saw it was some kid selling magazines. I shook my head and just shut the door. It's mean, but come on, who keeps pounding away at the door like that...? Our computer has its vent and fan on the top of the case, too. Our oldest cat loves to sleep there because we keep it on all the time and it's toasty. So, she also got sick all over the vent right after that...I turned it off and cleaned it the best I could, then went back to bed! My husband will have to deal with the rest of it because I was not tearing it apart to clean it out myself. Not only has she now tossed her cookies into the computer, but in the past she's also done it into the monitor and had a good time with the keyboard (different malady, different end, terribly funny, but it killed the keyboard)...So now she's nailed the computer which we knew would happen eventually. After that I managed to sleep until 1 PM. And now I am at work, willing the time to move faster... |
